JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA - Today we’re in the beautiful and historic city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, along the Red Sea coast. I’m hanging out with my friend @misho_baeshen and we’ll be going to eat some of the best seafood in the city, exploring the old town of Al-Balad, and finishing with some local favorite foods for dinner.
Thanks to Hisham: / @misho_baeshen
Here are the places we went in this Jeddah food tour:
Al Basali Seafood Restaurant (goo.gl/maps/eqv3xRXNys2CzbMB7) - First, the main food mission of the day is to eat some of the best seafood in Jeddah, and so we’re heading to the historical area of Al-Balad to eat at Al Basali Seafood Restaurant that’s been open since 1949, for three generations! They specialize in locally caught seafood from the Red Sea and all seafoods are displayed in a cabinet so you can see what you want to choose. Along with crabs, shrimp and lobster, one of the greatest fish from the Red Sea is a najel fish. The fish was deep fried and seasoned afterwards with a light blend of spices. The entire meal was fantastic, everything fresh, nothing overpowering the delicious seafood. I also really enjoyed the rice, which Hisham mentioned is only eaten when you eat fish.
Al-Balad - Is the historical center of Jeddah and also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Walking through the narrow streets, it’s truly magnificent to see the preservation of the old town and how it’s still functioning in everyday life. We stopped at a museum and for a quick cup of Saudi coffee while we explored.
Olfat Al Halawani (goo.gl/maps/Hp2AGJHYWRsAYwfU7) - Motabbaq is an Arabian food that’s influenced so many similar dishes around the world. To make it, they slap out thin dough, fill it with a combination of herbs, eggs, minced meat, and spices, wrap it up into a packet and cook it over a hot plate. When you eat it, you sprinkle it first with lemon, and chase it with a green chili. It was fantastic, highly recommended, and it’s especially famous to eat in the evening in Jeddah.
Lamb head mandi - For one more night snack we stopped at a restaurant to eat lamb head mandi, a dish where the lamb is falling off the bone - quite literally falling off the head - it’s then chopped up and sprinkled with cumin and salt. Each bite melts in your mouth, from the tongue to the cheeks.
Jeddah is an incredible city to visit in Saudi Arabia with an exciting food culture!
Thank you to Visit Saudi Arabia for arranging my food trip to Saudi Arabia!

There's some Arabian people in my city here in America, very polite people
@@jaxthewolf4572 of course!! they out of their territory!
No they are not.
But if you’ll stand in the street holding a crucifix or a Star of David you’ll be stoned to death by those friendly people 😂
There's some very racist and angry Indians on here as usual
I love Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 I worked 5 years in this country ❤people are so good
My friend khalid he is a good friend
Where’s the work now ??
Jeddah is one of the beautiful places on Earth. People are very hospitable. Your video makes me miss Jeddah. I worked there for 11 years. One of the place I called my home because of the people. 🥰🥰🥰
Welcome to Saudi Arabia.. It’s your home.
Maraming Salamat pare! As you know Saudis also love and respect Filipinos so much, like family too. Before the Spanish colonisation of the Philippines, you were a Muslim country called Maharlika, just like Indonesia and Malaysia - and we are long lost family members. I hope all of us in the Middle East remember this when meeting wonderful Filipinos.

I spend 14 years in Jeddah and it's best food city after Istanbul in the world.

@The_Gambler10 it's all about your food & restaurant selection.
Garbage Restaurant = Garbage Food 🙈
@Abdul Salam Buriro Don't pay him/her any mind. He was on another comment trashing this video. Hate has to go out its way to find a spot with people and force themselves to be known.
@Fight authority you are here again full of hate for no reason! Get a life!!!!
@Fight authority ---- I will not report your comment. Every one should get to know you. We will just replace your name with 'FOOD" in your comment. That describes you perfectly

Whoah the guide's a descendant of Abu-Bakr? That's wild! He's a very important figure in Islam 😄 This was a great video Mark, I loved the guide, he has so much personality. And that baked flat fish looked incredible!
Very Quickly before I get ready for work:
I LOVE Saudi Arabia excursions with Mark : This one in getting to know Jeddah's freshest seafood from the Red Sea incorporating the Saudi Arabian area. The Fresh fish is incomparable including the Al-Balad pre-salted Fish food from the salty Red Sea. The Najel Red Fish is the "Star of The Show" as Mark puts it. No marination of seasonings needed. The Basal-Onion Based Restaurant is over 75 years old and Mark has the privilege of being escorted the entire day my a gentleman from Saudi; Misho Baeshen. He was incredible on showing Mark how to collect the wonderful seafood in his hands with the incredible Basal-Onion Bread and the spices to mix in with the very flavorful rice....It is only 8 AM here in Las Vegas, NV. But I DO NOT want any eggs for breakfast. I want what Mark is eating!
I hope you get paid for this commentary
his name is Hisham not Misho lol
loved reading your comment 💜
Legend has it that one day Mark will eat a meal so good, he will lean all the way out of the frame.
I love how this dude is always smiling 😂 it tricks me into being happy for some reason

I did not know until this video that I love Jeddah-style food !!!
Haha
I never thought that Saudi Arabian food can be so delicious just by looking at it and well prepared and well deserved to be eaten. That's so Good to see. And the way it's prepared.
If mark is happy we are all happy
Thank you Mark for sharing amazing street food video with us ❤
The respect that you give to the different foods and the different cultures is the reason why you are famous Mr Mark Weins. You are the best. May your tribe fill this world❤
Thank you for bringing us along with you on this amazing tour.
Ugh, this looks epic! I so love that Mark always seeks out fresh seafood, even in places I wouldn't expect. That fresh fish, fried simply and dashed with those spices, and then dipped in tahini... c'mon now 😑 I've never had fish this way and now I absolutely need to!
A good episode, and Mark's style is good..but the Saudi person spoiled the episode with his frequent contact and gossip with Mark
If his role was limited to a simple explanation and a few appearances, it would have been better
