So, that's the reason why Blueberry Hill sounds so good even today? It's actually a blessing that a phenomenal show like that, was recorded.

I've always looked to the raw outtakes and live performances as a way to not only imbibe that creative energy but as a way to recognize my own and to envision it in a better, more sophisticated and produced form.
Listening to Led Zeppelin wrestle with new ideas that eventually became iconic landmarks in the sonic landscape of Western Rock n Roll has been a priceless education. Never mind that I have bought and paid for each studio album at least ten times each in my lifetime.
It is important for people to hear real music in its own time rather than be confined to just the official release, which is a static photograph. A live recording is a living, breathing quality whose nuances of emotion and energy change with perception over time revealing new dimensions.

People who buy boots already have everything legitmately put out by the artist. I'm one of them, and is everybody I've ever met who buys bootlegs. Because of the hyper-expense, I've focused on Zep and Elton. Through their careers I've bought both of their entire catalogs in every format available - vinyl, some cassette, CD and CD again (after they fixed the sound on CDs after awhile). I don't copy and redistribute, but I have used them to "treat" fellow fans who haven't heard this side of the artists. So there is no financial hurt to those artists, but yes I can understand the artistic and control aspects of both artists. For example, one highlight of my concert going life was seeing Zep in '77, but the shows in Maryland were mediocre sounding at best and the performances were just OK (for them!). So from that tour I found the best boot in terms of both audio quality and musical performance (Listen To This Eddie, recorded in LA). With Elton, I bought two that were him on a couple of solo tours because he was in his prime vocally and he just flat out plays more withoiut a band behind him. Remember, he did attend the Royal Academy. I don't think this approach hurt either artist financially whatsoever, but I'm not an artist so I can't pretend to feel what they feel as far as artistic control.

It no one is bootlegging your band that means you’re not hot. It’s a free form of advertising for bands. A real fan buys everything!
If you’re not getting bootlegged than you’re a boring band that’s not in demand.

That Floyd bootleg sounded way better than some of the cassettes I used to buy from Camden Market in the '80s. I had a Zeppelin at Knebworth one that consisted of pissed blokes shouting and a ghastly noise somewhere in the distance.

Bootlegs are/were the lifeblood of music, something beyond the control of record companies and artists themselves. Professionally produced bootlegs don’t really exist in the same way today due to torrents and downloading - and thank God for that. People who d/l torrents of live shows of their favorite groups already own everything officially released. Record companies have been influenced by bootlegs and many have been officially released by big names such as Neil Young, Bob Dylan and many others.

Major issue in the music business of the 1970s. And of course, computers were around during that time, but nobody knew that computers would make this issue mostly irrelevant.
