  • @iFryTube
    @iFryTube 4 месяца назад +2

    "Let it take you out to sea" I've heard everything but this.. because if you get pulled too far out, you may not have enough energy to get back to shore and that's key.. keeping your head up and keeping your energy at all cost.
    Know the signs of rip current to begin with, what to look for in the movement of the water.. sometimes this wont even work but it helps. Another thing is by a float that comes with a strap so it's attached to you. Read the safety instructions too. You can also put a whistle made for water rescue in your pocket if you have one, make sure its secure. Safety in numbers. If you have any children, even if it looks absurd, make sure they have something on their body like a lifejacket/pfd.
    The beach is a pretty safe place but you're also touching mother nature. It's the same as going out to the wilderness, you dont know what you're going to run into. A bit of caution and education goes a long way. You can also go to beaches where lifeguards are stationed. They'll not only see rip currents but make sure you dont go in. Look for beach flags too, they're symbols of current, sharks, storms, etc.

    If your from inland and going to any beach, make yourself familiar with the flag meanings and dangers of currants and rips. I have had this happen in California. I didn't know it was called a rip tide. A strong current flows from the beach to the sea taking you with it. You see the shore recede. Eventually you can swim parallel to the beach. It does not require any strength or endurance. Just remain calm.

    How did they drown?? Could they not swim?? Rips will pull you out a little ways, but don’t pull you under. Literally just floating on your back until it’s calm is all you need to do. And most of the time, once you reach the end of the rip going out…the current & waves will push you back towards the shore. I don’t see how people just panic and drown themselves. I know it sounds insensitive, but how does survival instincts not kick in?? I guess people react differently, but I’ve been pulled out before and my instinct was to float on my back when I couldn’t swim out of the current.

    To all who visit Panama City Beach: Go swim at St. Andrew’s Park in the “The Jetties” it’s a literal lagoon. Your toddlers will be safe there too and you can see all the ocean life in there. Your safe from the gulf by a huge wall of bordering rocks. Xo!
    I went to the main beach in my mid 20’s and I was up to my knees and I had to climb out on all fours….and it wasn’t even RED FLAGGED. I never went back in that part and I lived there for 20 years and the only place I will ever swim is the Jetties or Ecofina creek.

    The legislature should pass a law treating red beach flags like red traffic signals so they mean STOP! Not simply 'be aware'. It costs taxpayers thousands of dollars to rescue folks that ignore the red flags. It should be a $200 fine against anybody who goes into the water when there's a red flag flying from the lifeguard shack. That will cut down tremendously on these rip current drownings.

    Never underestimate the power of the ocean. I always enter the water with some sort of floatation device for worst case scenarios. Swim pallell if caught in these currents.

    Precisely why you should never go in the ocean ever for any reason at any time.

    They must have panicked and drowned…. Most can survive a rip current ad long as you swim with it and then once out to sea 🌊 parallel with land until yo can get in 😢 so tragic , and unfortunately preventable . These poor kids , strange that both died, i wonder if they accidentally drowned eachother 😢😢😢

    Why was it important to say the children were from different relationships. There is zero reason to even bring that up, what on earth are you sleazy reporters thinking

      Far from "sleazy," it's absolutely relevant. Facts just don't matter to people anymore!

    There needs to be an orientation that all tourists have to go when they arrive to a new state. Sad news
