I love the way your b roll clips are all purposely composed in a way which would make a great still image Simon. That rowan is something special indeed
Great intro. Your happiness is infectious. Hope things work out well for you man. Chicken fungus and now beef fungus? Meaty! Love the reference back to Lucy; that was a lovely video. You need to photograph those red berries. How often do we see red in woodland photography? The mushrooms also are still woodland. Details on the small scale in the woodland milieu.
I like the warm and almost meditative-like style of your videos. This really calms me down and motivates me, to shoot more through the heart than the head. :)
The trees at the start look like they are dancing, gorgeous shots. Chat about fungi when you feel like it, it is interesting. There are loads of those seashell white ones in our local wood, they fascinated us when we first came across them, hadn't ever seen them before.
That middle image of the Rowan, the one with the rock at the base - I really like that one, Simon! Your beautiful pup is so much fun to watch during the video.
Love mushrooms and ferns almost as much as the trees! The bark on that birch tree growing into the oak tree with the beefsteak fungi was gorgeous. What an assortment of patterns, textures and colors including your matching red shirt! Did you notice the 'face' in that Rowan tree with it's long nose pointing upward?! Yes, we call them Mountain Ash where I live as well (Washington State in the US) and now I have a greater appreciation after seeing your images.
Have to agree with Jamie the Rowan is something special, I studied Horticulture in Scotland and the Rowan was always one of my favourite trees, last year I found many growing along the Fundy shore here in New Brunswick but nothing as special as that. Thanks for sharing.
I really enjoyed the mushroom element, I’ve never seen anything like the beef steak mushroom, yes a little weird & freaky 😂! It’s a great extension to learning about your beautiful woodlands😊
🇨🇦/🇺🇸... Hey there Simon! I've been just playing catch-up on your videos and it is nice to here that, FINALLY, you are publishing a book! (I remember needling you about it.) Congrats on that, bro!!! 😀
Another excellent video ! Upcoming secrets, impending books and both the fungi and the additional info are spoiling us on top of the excellent photos. Top stuff and a lovely watch on a Sunday :)
Why was the mushroom the life of the party? Because he was a fun guy! Sorry about that, couldn't resist. Thanks Simon, I have been photographing mushrooms and fungi for years. I find them fascinating but difficult to shoot. They always seem to find the darkest, wettest park of the forest to hide. Glad you are going to feature them more often.
The image at 4:30 is beautiful, I love the little Rowan tree! The Rowan tree at 13:20 is so special, would look great with some fog! I think the composition at 14:22 is my favourite so far, it sure is such an interesting tree!
Lovely chilled out video made even better because I’m out right now wandering local park lands and I stopped on a bench to watch this episode, all very chilled 😌
Wow!! Your videos just keep getting better and better! Just magical images. Love those last images of the Rowan tree (Mountain Ash here in the Pacific Northwest). And as always your intimate knowledge of the woodlands is so refreshing - scenic photographer and expert botanical teacher all rolled up into one. Thanks to you and Meg for an outstanding lesson!!
great post! Earlier this week, I was viewing another post from another fellow from the UK who talked highly of you and your style of shooting trees and how specialized you have gotten. I don't think I have heard another photographer on You Tube talk so enthusiastically of one of his peers but I am sorry his name has left my memory(I am sure you know who I am talking about). As I have said before, you are one of my favorites so you and Meg have my attention from the USA!
thanks Simon , feeling inspired to go looking for some Rowan myself , have a free day tomorrow . lovely video once again and brilliant images as always
Another great video Simon. Beautiful images and description of the scientific names of the fungi and the fruit (perfect). I believe that the fruits of Sorbus aucuparia are eaten by birds that disperse the seeds. Congratulations from Brazil.
Great stuff! Maybe on your next trip there you can get some fog. I think that a focus stacked image with some of those ferns in the foreground and the rowan tree as the subject would be great! Thanks for sharing with us!
Beautiful shape to the Rowan. Thanks for sharing the multiple compositions and inspiring me to continue to enjoy all seasons in the woods. Your last few videos have motivated me to get out into my local woods over the last week and not worry too much about the conditions, which haven’t been great. As always, really enjoyed the video and look forward to the next one (and the book). Will you be taking pre-orders? Thanks Simon.
What's up Simon? I was checking out the last Adam Gibbs Pod Cast, and he gave you really high compliments on your photography. He feels your work is similar to his. That my friend says a lot. I think he's one of the best out here. Anyway my man, you keep up the good work you do, and stay tight with your work. Peace!
@@MartijnKrop Hello. What I was referring to was something he did last week which was more like a live chat than a Pod Cast. I'm still a novice with computers, and I'm sorry for that. What he did was to talk about some of the shots he's taken in the pass. While going over a shot he thought about Simon and how well he composes his shots. From what I can tell, Adam really likes his work and decided to give a shout-out, sort of speak.
@@MartijnKrop That's alright my friend. What Adam did was to read of a list of questions sent in by viewers over a live stream. Everything he said was positive. Peace, my friend!
Thanks for this video It's still interesting to see how you can still found something new to learn about forests, and sharing this knowledge to us. Hope you'll have better forecast next time you'll come here :)
Hi Simon. Wonderful video, thanks. Beautifully shot, and very articulate. 👍. Can I ask recommendations for good woodland in the Yorkshire Dales? Esp videos you’ve done from there. I’m heading there this week. Would be very grateful for any advice- thanks!
You're filmed carrying your tripod. Does this mean you actually have 2 tripods with you on your roamings? Heavy load, if so. Your videos are always enjoyable.
Great images Simon, I really like those Rowan trees, I wish they were here in Florida unfortunately they're not heat tolerant from what I understand. I've been keeping my eyes open for mushrooms to photograph though. :-)
Don't think I've ever seen a b&w from you, I assume that's a conscious, artistic decision but I'd be interested to know why? I'd have thought some of those tones and textures would really suit it? Nice work 👌
Simon, I'm wondering, since you find yourself encased in ancient woodland most of your time, have you ever had any strange maybe spooky experiences in there. Like feeling you are being watched or maybe not alone..? I love the woodland too and I can feel a connection while in there but not In a bad way thankfully...🤔. Great video again and thanks for the steak 🥩
I appreciate that you posted the alternate tree names at the end of the video. When you first started showing the Rowan berries and leaves, I thought they sure look like our Mountain Ash trees here in BC. I also want to comment on the bouldery creek that you show at 2:40 ..... that is an image that I would love to have captured.
Excellent video, I always learn something when you describe what you see in your compositions. Look forward to your next video. Also put my name down for a pre-order of your forth coming publication, regardless of when it comes out. As always best wishes...
Beautiful video Simon, but be careful about eating any fungi you might be tempted to try. I ended up in hospital for 3 days after eating what we thought were mushrooms. Very sick does not describe it - we could not even keep water down! 🤢🤢🤮🤮
I wonder how much Simon spends on dog shampoo each month. Fascinating story about the beefsteak fungus. I love shooting them. Actually, all fungi on living things are parasitic. Their mycelia thread throughout the host organism and leach nutrients from it. The "mushroom" is just the fruiting body; the majority of fungal mass is hidden within the host.
The pulsating autofocus of your video camera is quite distracting - how about setting it to manual when doing a piece to camera? Great content otherwise.
Hello, Simon! I found your channel from one of Nigel Danson’s videos and I love your work, and I appreciate your honesty and creativity. Very much inspirational. Subbed and followed on IG 🙏🙏
Lovely painterly feel to the image with the rowan sapling at the start of the film. I'v tried beefsteak fungus but as the name suggests it tastes nothing like beef! I was quite disappointed. I actually believe that a well composed woodland scene with soft light and shadows is as equally beautiful as a scene with fog. The rowan images were a fine example of this.
Excellent... Thank you
I get such a kick out of watching Meg cavort in the woods - she obviously enjoys herself immensely!
Nobody takes better photos of trees than you there always stunning
Thank you very much indeed ☺️
them last three images are insanely beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! those woodlands are stunning !!!!!!!!!!! take care n GOD BLESS !!!!!!!!!!
Whenever I'm heading out to a North Yorkshire woodland scout, I watch a couple of your videos, just to get me in the mood!
The ecological aspect really adds something to your story, I think its a nice addition :-)
She is a good girl, and pretty too! Such a sweet companion. I'm loving all the splashes of red and orange into today's shoot!
I’m not sure if I watch your videos because of the stunning photos or Megs adventures, but whatever the reason just love your work 💜
I love to watch Meg run thru the water .That waterfall was small then Meg got into it and it was bigger than what I thought. Good video!!!!!
1st class as always Simon. 👌
Great Simon Baxter Video, Thanks for sharing
Lovely images, Simon. I’ll never tire of wandering in woodlands. It’s so peaceful and healing. 👍🦘🇦🇺
I agree with you Peter. But I'm struggling with the mosquitos and heat this year.
I love the way your b roll clips are all purposely composed in a way which would make a great still image Simon. That rowan is something special indeed
Your now even more professional mate amazing
Thank you so much for each of your videos. You are a wonderful guide through the beauty of woodland. Your pictures are phantastic.
The fungus is a very important part of the woodland and as such makes a sensible extension for woodland photography.
Fantastic woodland and nice shots! The red fungus looks really toxic.👌😍
Relaxing and full of information. Thanks
Even the B-Roll is outstanding. Blessed Woodland. Thank you, Simon! Perfect Video
I love the 2nd image Simon, so beautiful - I hope you are well, always enjoy your videos.
So many beautiful images
Thanks again for a beautiful video
Chaos into art! That’s why you are the tree whisperer. Thanks for sharing. All the way from Michigan.
Glad to see the freaky fungi fascination has persisted Simon! Brill video - and agree, rowan is just divine! 😊
Wonderful shots of the Rowan tree, especially the 2nd. I quite liked the mushroom shots - more of that would be great...

Gorgeous compositions buddy, that Rowan tree it’s stunning!
Must say, it's a really nice forest to! Great work.

Very good images Simon as always ( but your standard is so high...) Thank you for the names of the trees and mushrooms , hope youll' do it regularly.
Always nothing short of inspirational. Lovely, wonderful stuff
Regal Rowan and marvellous mushrooms, what’s not to like! 🙌🏻
Worth the wait.
Great shots, thx for sharing your expertise

Such a beautiful location to photograph! Would love to stroll through there even without a camera. You certainly did get some lovely photos though.
Hi,I think the fungi is great,I have spent hours shooting them. Love your work keep it up for all our sakes.

I regularly find red deer in my woodland but can't get my camera up quick enough before it's turned tail. And I forget to switch off power saving.
Lucky your woodland floor is covered in beautiful ferns, here it’s poison ivy and the odd venomous snake :-)
