Suga himself said when he first knew of RM predebut years, he was really popular and NOBODY wants to go against him.
Purrr and they still don’t 😍
@@jungkuki._.3666 Right? He was what? 14? 15? Imagine now, after a decade of continuously perfecting his crafts. Namjoon is probably unbeatable.
@@brightiris honestly RM,Zico,Top,Suga are some underground rappers no typical kpop rappers would like to challenge.
@@rikhmjustsomeguywithmousta4971 Probably even some underground rappers would think twice to challenge, their background is underground for YEARS before becoming an idol. Add Winner Mino too.
@@brightiris aah yes
i love joke cause in many ways is just RM being in his cocky game, the lyrics are not cohesive and all over the place cause he was mocking other rappers who tried to drag him for not rapping "fast enough" lmao. the amount of wordplay is crazy, that's why it's kinda hard to translate it perfectly from korean to english.
hopefully you'll check god rap and monster, both from his first mixtape as well. the two songs sample j. cole's god's gift and grown simba. and his collab with krizz kali is amazing too!!
love your reactions, keep it up!!

You know the feeling when you finally found a reactor who's actually passionate about the reactions he does and not doing it for views? 😌
Native speakers have said there is no direct translation to some korean phrases and meanings so sometimes English only gives a shadow of what the true meaning is. So I agree and have been working to learn Korean because I'm tired of not understanding some of the phrases.
Oh Namjoon confuses everyone with how wonderful he is with lyrics and people think they get it but then realize they didn’t and there’s more to it he’s so dangerous with his wordplays, but I’m not surprised since he wrote/writes creates the majority of BTS songs. Are you going to do his two mix tapes RM and Mono?, he was a underground rapper who had older rappers fans and afraid of him when he was just a young teenager like 13/15 or such. He’s been creating since he was young.
It is such a shame when translations are weak and don’t really fully reflect the lyrics of the song. I believe there is a better video translation of JOkE but I don’t remember it.
@@jacque1in ohh nice
One of the saddest things in life is that I am not a fluent speaker of Korean. I will never know the roots of the true linguistic wordplays that Namjoon spits. Missing out on some Shakespeare level treasures, I'm sure.
This reminds me about that episode of "problematic men “ and Jackson Wang was there as a guest, RM was a regular. But they asked them to freestyle about each other. Wang didn't feel confident (not that strange as Korean is not his native language) but he was saying alot of times to RM to be kind and don't ditch me. Anyway RM found a rime quickly.
Another time and other gig on a live stage he was in asked to rap battle someone in English!
RM is no joke.
💜🇧🇷💜RM is no joke! He is The One and only Rap Monster!!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜and this song is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
RM is a big Drake fan, so "First name Greatest, last name Ever" was a tribute. Drake was actually thrilled on twitter, iirc.
Been waiting for this one tbh
11:19 that's why a lot of ARMYs read several different translations. Lyric videos are great for getting the meaning and the music together, but there's a reason why lyric breakdowns by bilingual ARMYs are so precious to us.
There's a video that does translator notes in the subs and explains a lot of the references.
Like Lee Kun Hee, he was comparing these rappers posturing like they're a big important person in society (like a Samsung chairman) but they're not.
Yeah the cool thing about the lyrics in this one is basically that they mean nothing. They serve no real purpose. He basically made this to show that he is able to rap very fast if he wants. Because there were other rappers that said he wasn't a real/good rapper because he didn't really rap that fast prior to this song. And the lyrics mean nothing to show that just because you're fast doesn't mean you're good because your lyrics suck lol
Yeah, the whole "lyrics mean nothing" thing is bull. He may have said the lyrics weren't written with purpose, but do you really think he's capable of writing anything meaningless? Even he is wrong once in a while. 😄
@@flyushkifly what do they mean? I mean yeah he makes references and stuff but I do think he says says a lot of intentionally random stuff that doesn't necessarily have a meaning. But feel free to correct me on that
@@joezaster4978 well, I guess it depends on what level of meaning you're looking at. For example - and this is just of the top of my head -
Surface meaning: "bibbitty bobbity" are nonsense words.
Reference meaning: "bibbitty bobbity" is the spell the fairy godmother used to transform Cinderella into a princess for a night.
RM's deeper meaning could be: the only way other rappers can rhyme is with 3 syllable words that make them seem cool temporarily but have no originality or depth.
Here are some other people's analysis of it:

@@flyushkifly I know don't worry
I don't know if RM likes to freestyle now, but he and Suga (and some of the guys who now are producers at BigHit) used to do it a lot while trainees. J-Hope said he learnt to rap because the other guys would be rapping about everything and to diss each other. He kind of fell into it.
(Edited for grammar - English is not my first language LOL)
This song is crazy. The beat is sooooo good🔥💜💜💜
I've been waiting too! Joonie spits bars!

I REALLY LOVE IT 😌

Always happy to see you analyze the references! Are we in for the full RM mixtape experience?
Also, yes, his rap energy! We need rapline concert experience for more than just one subunit track per tour
Yes the full mixtape

YASSSSSSSS! So excited for this... actually saw this notif first but just as I was about to click it, I saw the MFBTY one come up and I got so excited because they're so underappreciated so I had to watch that one first but I'm here now let's goooooo!!
this song was made in response to people saying he’s not a good rapper bc he rapped
slow in his previous songs lol
he’s trying to say that fast rap doesnt matter if it doesnt mean anything. (he reiterates this in several songs)
also, there are some double & triple entendres in all these verses that are lost in translations. if you look in doolseybangtan’s translation blog or muishramblings’ translation blog, you can get way more context for each verse
This is probably the most genuine and well done reaction for this mv of rm. Others just don't give proper credit for this masterpiece. Love your reaction 👊
Thank you so much
I really really enjoy your reactions. I also don't have a problem when you start researching or something in the middle of it, 'cause this feels more authentic to me than other people who cut every 2 seconds and just care for the views. Keep it up!
I'm so slow with catching up with these reactions! 😭 But love the fact that you at least saw a translated version of Joke! His whole RM Mixtape is fire! I personally adore Monster, pretty sure it has boom bap beats and I'm a sucker for those. Kudos!
Some lyrics don’t translate as well but at the same time they were not meant to have a lot of sense. He still managed to use a lot of wordplay between the languages and if we don’t understand korean we are not going to get them through the translation
He made the song to mock the people who said he didn’t have flow or rap skills since he debuted with bts. That’s why he changes his flows frequently throughout the song. To my knowledge he was making fun of the people who think rapping fast with ridiculous lyrics and no meaning is what defines a good rapper.
In some parts in the song he would just fill the spaces with lyrics just because it sounds good, not because it has meaning
I actually love this mixtape as much as mono. Namjoon has grown a lot since his first mixtape and mono is like a safe place for comfort. Every time i feel like something is stressing me (like college) i listen to his mixtape and his voice does wonders so i’m really thankful for it☺️💜
Namjoon loves drake so maybe that is a reference
I feel like i would really love if you listen to the rapline mixtapes. When i was baby army it made me realize how different their styles are and how their mindset changed since then ☺️
The "thing" that gets me about this rap is THERE IS NO HOOK! Rap Monster...thank you Hitman Bang PD (who gave him the nickname)...it's also a reference to a rap he did in his underground days.
As far as I understood RM made this to the jabs like: bts rapers can't rap they don't have flow, etc....also the.lyrics are intentionally not so cohesive, the main point was to make as much flows as possible. Armys correct if i am wrong
Yeah. But I think the lyrics don't make sense to clown other Rappers that just rap very fast but their lyrics aren't good yk?
Pretty much.
@@joezaster4978 yes, you are right, the lyrics are at the same time flexing his skills and mocking other "rappers"
"Jokes" lyrics make sense guys. It doesn't have like.. a theme or message per se, that's why he said it's without meaning. But his lyrics aren't just random or senseless." Just what I found on twitter, I would have to look for the thread on it.
@@neondream03 yes, i didn't say lyrics didn't have sense, i said they were not so "cohesive" intentionally
Suga is the Eminem of Asia without any doubt
But rap mon here is like Eminem father 🔥🔥
YESS! 🔥🔥🔥I swear the first time I heard this I was Jungshook 😱🤣 This man have like 4-5 flows on a 3min song...also the references he makes aren't that well translated because it's difficult to translate some punchlines or phrases korean rappers have in english but you can clearly see it was a diss track to other rappers ...But man I'm inlove with this agressive Rapmon 😎💕💖
Btw this song has an MV and if I'm not wrong there's also the MV with the lyrics 💜 (Personal Opinion: I think RM might be the best idol rapper, DON'T HATE ON ME!✌💜🤣)
Here the MV! 💕 I think you didn't find it because the title is in korean and it's on their 2nd channel ..💜

5:55 Yes he is definitely calling them all out
And yes he really did mean that. 😄 he went there.
Love the intro💜
Yessss, been looking forward to your rapline series 😊 peace and love ✌️
RM has been rapping since 2007. He started i. The underground scene. He was intimidating others since before he was 14. I love this song and watching people get to see his genius. It's even more amazing seeing someone who knows the genre and what they're talking about. RM originally wrote this literally as a joke because other rappers were saying because he's an "idol" he wasn't a real rapper, real rappers can rap fast etc. He has such a beautiful and talented grasp of writing and lyrics and wordplay and how to mesh that all together into something outstanding. The cyphers are a really good look at the rapline of BTS it definitely shows off their individual styles well. The thing about them though is that even though they all have differ styles when you watch the 3 of them in their concerts and it's just them they fees and flow and support each other amazingly. I hope you also get to hear and review Ddaeng.
RM specifically made this song to give a finger to his haters, particularly other Korean hiphop rappers who's been dissing in the him that he's a faker and can't rap to save his life. No one's dissing him once this song was released.
I'm pretty sure he sampled this beat?
I think there were quite a few songs on his first mixtape that he sampled from different places, hence it only being on soundcloud...
Just googled it and it's from a song by Run the Jewels called Oh My Darling (Don't Cry)
But yeah, I love his first mixtape, not enough people have listened to it in its entirety, rather than just the ones with mvs, because I love so many of these songs! 💜
Yeah I figured that usually that's the protocol for mixtapes in general is to do some fly ish over a famous or popular beat and he did an excellent job.

Reaction to Do You ,, Rm. Is really nice to
RM is an artist i respect alot
You gotta check his mixtape titled RM (joke is one of its tracks)
It was amazing and also his new one mono was incredible.
His collaborations withliki nas X (str) , Walle , Warren G, krizz kaliko, FOB , Honne and many korean artists
He is very very talented from childhood and was famous in ug hip hop seen.
Writes and raps in 3 laguages , is amazing lyrically, and has a big hand behind the formation and success of BTS
He was the reason behind the group formation. He is very very imp . Behind the success,
I admire him alot.
This is carrying many phrases, double triple meanings and rhymes both connecting eng and korean . You'll know more how he is a lyrical genius along the way.
He is very good at lyrics like that.
He is known for his work in sk music scene . Esp. In hip hop
So abt Korean hiphop scene ... RM aka rap monster was active and famous in underground rap scene since 13 14 year old , he had a big fanbase then as well and they were upset when he became an idol ; he is called son by the biggest k hiphop artist tigerJk who he has collaborated with also RM calls him dad as well
His RM mixtape is on bts soundcloud and he is the only k hiphop artist to ever make to spins ww hiphop albums list that year and till now
His 2nd mixtape mono is a beautiful masterpiece recently released, you should check both out, as well as his collaborations
He has 161 track credits on his name and mono has 116 itunes 1 as first and only Asian artist
You are absolutely right about the translation.
Thankyou for your reaction. I love that you want to try and decipher the lyrics. I hate it when people just watch his MV and dont care to go back and read the lyrics, because namjoon is all about wordplay. Its not just about rapping really fast, you need the wordplay as well. I love his wordplay, its intriguing to me. I also really love his mixtape Mono its a masterpiece, i recommned checking it out😉.

Hi Monq. The original track is Oh My Darling by Run the Jewels. Thanks for the reaction!

Ohhh! You mentioned Disaster, have you seen his battle with Oxxymiron, a Russian rapper? It happened a couple years back and it was goooooooood 😎
Yes I did I think I've seen all of his so far but I may be mistaken.

Its my favorite!
Just had to jump in here and say I used to watch URL & Queen Of The Ring all the time but I fell off it this past year. My favorites were (URL) Loaded Lux (vs Calicoe was a classic), Murda Mook, & Aye Verb. (QOTR) favs were 40 Barrs & Couture. As for freestyle I only use to watch when Eyedea (RIP) or Supernatural would battle... yeah I'm that old. Great reaction as always.
Whaaaaaat, this one? YES PLS!
Seeing the comments about the lyrics not meaning anything...I assume the talk is about the bibady babidy part. Right before that part, RM literally mentions rappers who can only rap 3 syllable words sounding like...bibady babidy, etc.
Ahhhhh is this targeted towards like the mumble or trap style?
A Mashup would be amazing
Yes, I agree, some words in Korean don’t translate the same as English. It does loose its meaning a little bit, and like you said, you do have to read between the lines. There’s a RUclipsr that translates or explains the meaning in a lot of their songs, especially if it’s difficult to understand because of the language barrier. It’s DKDKTV, he’s really good at explaining the verses and putting them in context. You should check out his videos.
I don't think DKDKTV have done explained videos for the old rap line material. I keep asking them to but they ignore me 😭
Highkey ARMY 😂😂😂😂 yeah your right!
I also suggest you to read translation from various sources so that you can comprehend the meaning. A lot of korean-english army blogs who did that such as wisha, doolset, colinhs3, muish (thatsgreat ones), amino etc. Thanks :)
RM is pure genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The wordplay in this song is insane on the link I sent I recommended referring to muish ramblings and to check the description box with the link to the wordplay.
He's doing lines from artists he likes and taking those rappers down that don't rap.
BTW these translations are some of the bests out there. They used context very well even though the wordplay wasn't explained in the video they had in the description box and you can get the detailed wordplay in there.
Love it
Check for RM predebut song... He's strong
can you react to the cyphers?
I know this is not that related to you but there is a reactor named Teddygreyonstuff, and he made a reaction about this song (yesterday). It irked me cause he was like straight up hating on this track (and RM too like using being a BTS member as the reason to say that we were hyping this track when this song based on him has "no substance" ) and kept on taking the translation as it is. Also dissing some reactors for "gassing" this song.
So I revisited your reaction to clear my mind cause the whole 18 mins of him reacting was really frustrating, and he was like straight up beefing with the song. So as always thank you for your reactions.
No problem lol, done people may it may not like it. The FACT that he would diss people who do is stupid lol. People want others too follow their way of thinking when actually they are just upset that someone would seem opposed to the way they feel. It's natural.
In any case, The Song Is DOPE
@@MONQTV
But still we give people the benefit of the doubt, this song is fire for me because of the reason it was made. But it irked me so much that he was saying that he is a "student of hip-hop" but proceeds to be a dumb person.
As always thank you, you are the best BTS reactor I have watched because you acknowledged (acknowledged their love for hip-hop and their understanding of it) them, listened without prejudice and reacting with open mind and honesty.
Again thank you for reacting to BTS, I am looking forward to your reaction of SEXY NUKIM by BALMING TIGER ft RM. The song was dope but there were no subtitles(you can refer to some translation channels for the mean time)
Of course your right about that, but some people don't want to take the time out to do that unfortunately lol
Thank you Sooooo much for all your kindness and I'm glad you're enjoying the content.

Hey HipHop Sunbae, I was wondering if you heard the whole controversy going on lately in the Hip Hop community about what Snoop said on the Breakfast TV interview (in regards to his top 10 and Em)? There is a short video clip of the interview of Snoop speaking to Charlamagne and the other host. And then there's this video talking about Royce Da 5'9" response and how it caused a division among fans. It was surprising for a lot of people coming from Snoop but there were also some people who said it's just an opinion. What bothered people was the tone in which it was delivered. If you could watch or react (second video is Kxng Crooked's thoughts on it, someone I respect in the rap game):
