Watch our first day in Arkansas: ruclips.net/video/otT3nM-AcDA/видео.html Safety is our #1 priority and we want to stress that this adventure, and all future adventures, will be done responsibly and with the health of others in mind. Here are the steps we are taking everyday, including in these videos: 😷Masks and face coverings. We wear these anytime we are near others outside and especially indoors. If we don’t have a mask on in a video, it’s 99% because there was no one around. ⏰ Exploring early. We normally start at sunrise anyway because of less crowds, but especially so with COVID. We have been starting our days before sunlight so we can limit our interactions. 🧼 Washing and sanitizing our hands, especially after touching anything outside of the van. 🚐 Being in the van 95% of the time when we’re not filming. The adventures we share are a small sliver of our lives. We are staying in the van all day everyday when working and the only time we leave is to do laundry, get gas, or go to the store. 6️⃣ Keeping our distance. We are trying to stay at least 6 ft from others, which truthfully isn’t always possible (and then we make sure we cover our face).

I like your videos in more ways than can be expressed in writing. Down to the way you interact, and even look at each other, makes us understand that you really like what you do.
We only went to Arkansas once when I grew up but it is so amazing how much more spectacula nature was in Arkansas because of the Ozarks than Mississippi, where I grew up. I think I learned to value nature by what we lacked as it was mostly flat and featureless. I now live in Seattle your former home and the site of so much spectacular beauty. The scenery in this video was great!
Arkansas is one of those states that has really surprised us in our travels around the states! Washington is loaded with beauty! We miss it so much! Thank you!
I used to live in Jasper Arkansas and my soul stayed there when I moved away. You guys are the most watchable of anybody that I've seen posting about the area and doing travelogues. Very intelligent, likable and knowledgeable people. You really made my Saturday night. Great post. The three times that I backpacks the Buffalo National River Trail from South Boxley to Pruitt still stand as my greatest experiences in the wilderness backpacking or otherwise. You should really go check out Lost Valley too. It should be your next trip and you should do a post only about if alone. It is truly a magical place.
Thank you for saying that! That really means a lot to us! We’ll definitely look into that backpacking trip. We’d love to do more out there. We had a great time and was really surprised by Arkansas. We kept saying to ourselves “why didn’t we come out here when we lived in Texas?” Thank you and thanks for watching!

Should have done Lost Valley while you were in the area! One of my favorite hikes in Arkansas. There is a cave in the very back with a 35' waterfall in it.
Awesome video! Scenic Hwy 7 is beautiful. Yrs ago we drove it all the way from Hot Springs to Harrison. Spring and fall is Spectacular! So many overlooks, parks and views to see. Right before you get to Jasper is the overlook for Arkansas’s little Grande Canyon! Then there is this fantastic Restraunt right there too with the best views! Along the back porch is lots of hummer feeders and in the summer it’s a sight to see. Even in the fall you will see a few hummers, known to winter down in the valley below. Not hungry? Stop anyway and have coffee and Pie! Amazing in house baked delights. Then north to downtown Jasper Square. Great places to eat there too! They have the Elk festival there each yr except this yr, the China virus has cancelled so many events! Boxley valley and some towns back towards Fayetteville are adorable places to stop. In peak elk viewing season, you will see photographers lining the fence lines clicking away! Another great ride is from Fayetteville Hwy 23 south to Ozark on interstate! ITs called the Pig Trail...again in the spring and fall the views are just gorgeous! Quiet a number of places to stop and take photos. Like you said there are so many things to see and do in the whole Northwest Arkansas area. The state does a lot to keep up the state parks all around here and other parts of the state. Cave tours, there’s a book that has the map of all the water falls in this more northern part of the state. It’s a photographers heaven too. Hey I hope yawl visited the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville while you were here! It has International collections and art from one end to the other. Thank you for all of the tips Betty, glad we were able to hit up a few of these in this video! We will be back to explore more 😄 We visited the trails around the Crystal Bridges museum, but didn’t go inside, but loved all of the art on the outside!

Hello Adventurers😊😊, Arkansas and that SPECTACULAR mountain scenery is just beautiful. The hike along that ledge was really cool too. The breakfast, Ohhh that cinnamon roll with syrup, I wander to somehow go thru my phone to snatch it hahaha😊😊😊😊😊!! Southwestern Arkansas is really nice too, especially Hot Springs, ARKANSAS which is within the Quatchita Mountains and so many hikes to explore. Highway 7 from Harrison to Hot Springs is also beautiful scenic byway, im wondering if you drove that way. This was a great video and really enjoyed it as I too have explored Arkansas. Looking forward to the next video.👍👍👍👍
It’s soooo gorgeous there! And I almost had to steal that cinnamon roll from Adam 😜 We did visit Hot Springs and while we didn’t film a vlog there, we will have some Instagram stories to share later this week, so stay tuned! Super pretty out there too!
Great video. "Do you wanna goat back" LOL that made me laugh! My wife and I love hiking that area. Awesome places! We have hiked nearly all these places many times.
🤣 KIDing!! One of my favorite would be Indian Creek Trail. I have done several videos of that trail on my RUclips channel. We also like Lost Vally Trail. There is a side path off on that trail called Armadillo Falls. There are two caves I found at the top of the trail. Check that video out on my channel. It’s an awesome hike. I made it to the top where Tim Ernst says in his book that it’s not accessible. But I made it! Really awesome. Hemmed in Hollow is another one of our favorites.
We really wanted to do hemmed in hollow falls, but it was dried up that day and we ran out of time, so figured we’d save it for next time. Can’t wait to check out the others too!
Smart move taking the alternate route to Whitaker Point. I've gone to and from the trailhead in both directions, and the other route is indeed very steep as you heard. It's a lot easier driving down it than up it. Also the best time to see Whitaker Point is early morning at sunrise. You will have the whole epic view to yourself, no lines. Most people don't show up until an hour or so after the sun is up. And if you want to avoid making the hike early morning in the dark, do what I did and hike up the night before and camp at the top overnight. So worth it.
Oh ya that would be a great way to beat the crowds! Getting up early is always our number one tip for people to beat crowds. We follow that rule most of the time when it fits in our schedule. Camping out there would be fun too! Thanks for sharing and watching!
What!?! French Toast cinnamon rolls. My mind is blown. I need to find some of these ASAP. I think you two did just fine picking your adventures for NW Arkansas, but you are right there is not shortage of cool sights. I struggled mightily trying to narrow it down when we passed through a few years. We settled on just exploring the Buffalo National River so we could canoe and do the Goat Trail too. Let me caveat this first. I thought the area was beautiful and would easily go back. However, we had a really, really rough go when we were there. Camping was miserable between the high humidity and insane amount of flies and gnats. Same issues on the Goat Trail and the kids we just not having it on the way back from Big Bluff. That was a looooong trek out. The biggest disappointment was the canoeing or shall I say lack of canoeing. I signed up with an outfitter but apparently didn’t understand that they do not run all sections of the river during a given day. I signed up for the family friendly section but when we arrived they weren’t running it that day. The only section they were doing contained up to Class II rapids and I was not comfortable taking the kids out on that since it was likely we would dump at least once. That is the section I would choose but not with the kiddos. If you get back there and want to canoe, the prime section is Ponca to Kyle’s Landing. It goes by a bunch of the tall bluffs and you stop along the river and hike to Hemmed-in Hollow Falls.
It was SO good! And we know the feeling of weather, bugs, and other circumstances putting a damper on a place. We didn't share much about how hot and humid the Midwest was for us, but it was pretty tough in the van and we had to get hotels pretty often, which wasn't ideal. We hope you can go back to the Buffalo National River and have a better experience, we loved the views out there!
Well done... Goat Trail is the best..love that uphill walk back to parking lot. Bakery in Jasper..👍 Hawksbill Crag (craig) Is Arkansas's most famous place to hike... Well done on explaining your stops..spot on. Come back and float the Buffalo River... epic. Happy Thanksgiving 😊.
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Goat Trail was a ton of fun, we loved the bluff at the end and the river views. Floating the river sounds like a blast when it’s warmer hahah!
I'm sorry I forgot to wish your beautiful pup a happy birthday ,so Happy belated Birthday Kona 🎈 Wishing you many beautiful long hikes and lots of treats🐶🐾 Our weather in Southern Ontario has been very rainy/ foggy and now the rains turned to snow❄️😊🍁
I felt that comment so much about "why didn't we come here more?" The older you get the more you might find yourself saying that. Just have to remind yourself you were probably having fun when you were younger, it's just your priorities were different. It's sometimes hard to look back and not feel like you might have missed out, but it's easy to forget all the OTHER things you did right? Only so much time. Can't wait to get to this state someday.
Absolutely! Our life looked A LOT different before we moved to Seattle in 2016. We didn’t hike or do much outdoors. We wouldn’t have appreciated Arkansas then like we do now!
My brother and I stayed in Eureka Springs one night after floating the Buffalo this summer. That's a cool historic town with Victorian architecture. There are caves nearby including the Oynx Cave, the oldest toured cave in Arkansas. They let you tour the cave on your own. I recommend doing a float trip with Buffalo Outdoor Center between Ponca and Kyles Landing on the Buffalo River in the spring. You can do an easy side hike off the river to Hemmed In Hollow, the largest waterfall between the Rockies and the Appalachians. The Lost Valley trail is an easy trail that has a massive rock shelter (Cobb Cave) with a waterfall next to it. There's a cave above that waterfall with another waterfall inside of it. The Mulberry River is another great float trip with more rapids (class II) than the Buffalo. We rented sit on top kayaks at the Turner Bend outfitter. I also was up at New River Gorge and Fayetteville this year, and I am going to Red River gorge in Kentucky this summer. I recommend checking out the Big South Fork national river area of Tennessee and Kentucky. Cumberland Falls, Twin Arches, Yahoo Falls and Arch, Pickett State Park, the Honey Creek trail loop and other great trails with natural arches and big rock shelters.
Eureka Springs is so awesome! We went there on a day we weren't filming and loved the architecture! Hemmed in Hollow was on the original plan, but it was dried up, so we hope to visit when the waterfalls have water next time because it looks so cool! Thank you so much for all of the suggestions! So many cool spots on this side of the US that we haven't touched yet!
My backyard. In the Buffalo River area, you should hike the glory hole, Hemmed in Hollow (the tallest waterfall between the Rockies and Smokies), lost valley and eden falls, and then venture west to White Rock, and up to Eureka Springs, and spend some time on Beaver Lake before hitting Devil's Den state park, . NWAR is stunning all year long, but spectacular in a rainy, colorful spring.
We had planned to do glory hole and hemmed in hollow, but they both were dried up (from reviews we read), so we decided to skip them for now. But they looked super cool! Eureka Springs was also awesome, we went there on a day we didn’t film and the architecture is so beautiful! Thank you for all of the other tips!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Absolutely! Go to Hemmed in Hollow and Glory Hole in the spring when it's been raining. you'll hear the waterfall at hemmed in hollow a mile before you see it.
Again, you have made my palms sweaty with those down the cliff shots! Love the goat pun and the terrifying rock you stood on, Adam! Now I have to head for the kitchen after watching you eat those rolls! Stop already!!!! :-)
Great video guys! That one rocky outcrop looked like you could just give it a push and it would fall over. My stomach always does a flip if the trail is narrow and there's a steep drop off, don't have a head for cliff edges , makes me bit dizzy. Travel safe and take care.
Narrow trails freak me out too! Thankfully it was wider than expected and since no one else was there, we had lots of space to move around. But it is still a bit freaky!
If you purchase the Arkansas Waterfall book you’ll have lots of options to choose from. There’s some amazing hikes in that area. You picked 2 good ones to start off with. 🥰
Enjoyed your videos on my state and glad you guys had a great time! Never seen a goat in the ghost trail but when I hiked it in October I did see a wild hog. If you're ever in the area again go check out Hemmed-In- Hollow. As someone else mentioned, Richland Creek is another great area with lots of trails and features to check out too.
Oh wow! We did hear some animals making some weird noises in the woods, but couldn’t figure out what was happening or what it was haha. We really wanted to visit Hemmed-In Hollow, but heard it was all dried up, so it’s definitely on the list for next time!
Oh wow! I did the Goat Trail 3 weeks before you did! I wanted to make it to Whittaker Point too, but we ran out of weekend after doing other hikes. I’m hoping to go again when the leaves are peak.
So weird seeing the trees that stripped of their foliage yet you both were hiking in shorts or tank tops. Was it unseasonably warm or is this normal? Hawksbill Crag looked lovely, like a mini Trolltunga. Funny to hear how you felt about not having visited Arkansas when you lived in Texas - I feel the same about Scotland now. Grew up in North East England, about 85 minutes to drive to the Scottish border and barely visited. Now I'm kicking myself being stuck at the other end of the country!! Those cinnamon rolls looked amazing ❤️
It was the perfect weather! Highs in the 60s and not too cold at night. We aren’t sure what is normal there, but it has been mid 70s most days here in Austin since we have been back (except today is cold and we are loving it!) Isn’t it crazy how so many of us try to go far away from home to travel, but there are usually amazing adventures close by that we ignore? It’s exciting to experience the places close to home and realize you’ve been missing out!
Several years ago we met three young men on the trail to Hawksbill Craig. Two of the were pushing their friend in a wheelchair to the overkook. Quite a feat.
If you want to explore Arkansas, I highly suggest getting any of Tim Ernst’s books. He’s created beautiful books of different trails, waterfalls and beautiful sceneries in Arkansas.
The second hike did allow dogs (we should’ve mentioned this), but Kona doesn’t do well with other dogs, so after seeing the decent amount of cars, we decided for our sanity she should stay behind haha. But we agree, drop offs and dogs don’t mix well! Especially if Kona suddenly saw a squirrel 😅
@@AdventuresofAplusK I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback and she "loves" squirrels as well......would not be good. I take her trail-riding most mornings. I ride my mountain bike and she runs along side, but a couple of weeks ago she saw a wild hog she wanted to "play" with and she jumped through a barbed wire fence.....really lucky to have only received a few cuts and scrapes, but I learned my lesson.
If you want to see elk in the east check out the Oconaluftee area of Great Smokie Mountains N.P. it's on the south side. They show up in the field by the visitor's center daily. Like you said dawn and dusk are the best veiwing times. They elk there are Roosevelt Elk.
I have been to Hawksbill Krag three times and never got a picture of me out on the Krag. My wife was with me once but wouldn't go close. I left her with my camera at a good spot asked her to take a picture. When I got back, she had zoomed out to the point it just looked like a was standing on rock. Another time I took my drone with me, but it was too crowded to fly it.
@@AdventuresofAplusK You will have to go some day for Adam’s benefit since the Breaks are also called the Grand Canyon of the South!! Check it out at www.Breakspark.com.
That is the area up and around the old Goat Trail as y'all call it. That trail was originally a Osage trail. White pioneers would normally not take that trail into the valley as cattle, pigs, and wagons obviously not traverse that trail.
So nice. Its funny I lived in Austin right in Steiner too & I never visited Arkansas either. It looks beautiful!! We moved to Chandler AZ & I noticed in ur AZ vlogs that u were brought up in AZ lol small world ☺️

Hi William! Thanksgiving was very nice. We are back in TX for a while and spent it with my (Kathryn’s) family, who we are living with. We hope you had a nice Thanksgiving too!
One of my oldest friends randomly moved to Rogers a few years ago... I was like “why the heck did you choose Arkansas??” I’m getting an idea... great vlog as always friends!
If yall ever come back through Arkansas I highly highly reccomend flatside pinnacle and also mtn magazine. Both are part of ouchita national Forrest and are absolutely gorgeous
@@AdventuresofAplusK flatside pinnacle isn't pinnacle mtn some people get em mixed up, great for dispersed camping and back packing. Eagle rock loop is epic
Hi! Which trail are you referring to? For Centerpoint to Goat Trail (Big Bluff), it's all downhill to the bluff, which is easy, but the way up will get your heart rate up a bit. The actual bluff wasn't scary in our opinion, but if ledges make you nervous you may not enjoy it. Whitaker Point was pretty easy in terms of elevation gain. The rock at the end is a lot wider than it looks from the side angle and we saw folks of all ages and abilities out there enjoying it! Hope that helps!
That's NOT the Goats Trail! Y'all call it that now but that's Uncle Frank's Trail. That was the old Osage Indian trail. There is an old Osage village near the place where cliff hangs out over the river.

I'm probably not going to find anything undiscovered along a public use trail. What I'm going to look at first are topographic maps and a geological index.
@@AdventuresofAplusK that’s fair! My boys are the reason I’m into camping and hiking so I rarely go without them... Anytime I’m scouting campsites and trails, that’s a requirement for us ☺️
We totally understand! If Kona wasn’t so reactive we’d definitely want her with us on every hike! But unfortunately she makes hiking extra stressful 😬 We love her to death though!
There are a lot of areas around the Buffalo where dogs are allowed. Generally, where they are disallowed is either for the protection of the dog or for the protection of the wilderness and wildlife in the area. David, if you’re interested in seeing the area, there are several resources on the NPS site and other local Buffalo River sites that suggest some beautiful trails, campsites, etc that are pup friendly. 🙂
I don't like this pattern.. Blue mountain Cafe is permanently closed as well. So sad seeing all these businesses closed down just a couple years later.

Lake Ouachita i recommend if you come back! Really any lake here is just breathtaking!
We really want to go there next time!
Great video. "Do you wanna goat back" LOL that made me laugh! My wife and I love hiking that area. Awesome places! We have hiked nearly all these places many times.
Lol! We meant to say “I am KIDding” after to keep the goat puns going 🤣🤣 Arkansas has some awesome hikes. What’s your favorite?
@@AdventuresofAplusK This is a video of how to get to the top of Hemmend in Hollow. ruclips.net/video/r7hjWGwC9b0/видео.html
Brunch looked really good Hike looked fun definitely will visit!
We highly recommend it!
Never thought about going to Arkansas. Jasper is gorgeous!
We hadn't either, even living so close to it for a while. And we were missing out!
Thanks for making my Sundays, Fundays!
Of course! Thank you so much for watching!
Thank you, this video was awesome!
I'm still so happy you came to my state I'm so proud of it!
We love Arkansas!
Another amazing adventure! Hope you both are staying healthy and safe.
Thanks Ronald! We’re safely in Austin now and staying healthy. We hope the same for you!
I love all the sights in today’s video!!!! Reminds me a lot of Letchworth State Park in NY!!! One of my favorite places!
Oh wow, we just googled that park and it looks gorgeous! That one waterfall there is HUGE!
impressive hike! Beautiful scenery!
It is gorgeous there!
Its very nice!
Amazing
Goat big or goat home! 😂😂😂
Kona is such a cute dog 😍
Hahaha 🐐🐐🐐 yes!
She is such a cutie! ❤️❤️
Bakery in Jasper..👍
Hawksbill Crag (craig) Is Arkansas's most famous place to hike...
I'm sorry I forgot to wish your beautiful pup a happy birthday ,so Happy belated Birthday Kona 🎈 Wishing you many beautiful long hikes and lots of treats🐶🐾
Our weather in Southern Ontario has been very rainy/ foggy and now the rains turned to snow❄️😊🍁
awww she says thank you! Ooo enjoy the snow! It’s getting chillier here in Texas, but no pretty snow haha
That is amazing! We camped right by it and were so bummed to miss it!
Again, you have made my palms sweaty with those down the cliff shots! Love the goat pun and the terrifying rock you stood on, Adam! Now I have to head for the kitchen after watching you eat those rolls! Stop already!!!! :-)
Hahahaha it isn’t an adventure without food! 😜
❤the Ozark Mountains 😊
It’s a beautiful state n so underrated
If you purchase the Arkansas Waterfall book you’ll have lots of options to choose from. There’s some amazing hikes in that area. You picked 2 good ones to start off with. 🥰
Very nice! We would love to come back when waterfalls are flowing!
Pretty cool views along those valley ridges. Too bad Kona couldn't join you. Be great to see the area there in spring or summer.
We wish she could’ve too! She technically could have for the second hike, but she doesn’t do too well if there are lots of doggos on trails.
Gorgeous views! But I have to say when you showed the “feet” views with the drop off, I got a bit nervous! 😂 Another great place to visit!
Hahahaha probably not what you wanted to see after texting us that day worried that we fell off 🤣
Nobody ever comes to AR. Glad you guys made it and hope to see you down here again:)
We wil definitely be back! 🙌🏼
Oh wow! I did the Goat Trail 3 weeks before you did! I wanted to make it to Whittaker Point too, but we ran out of weekend after doing other hikes. I’m hoping to go again when the leaves are peak.
We would love to go back in more of peak fall conditions!
We aren’t sure what is normal there, but it has been mid 70s most days here in Austin since we have been back (except today is cold and we are loving it!)
Isn’t it crazy how so many of us try to go far away from home to travel, but there are usually amazing adventures close by that we ignore? It’s exciting to experience the places close to home and realize you’ve been missing out!
Several years ago we met three young men on the trail to Hawksbill Craig. Two of the were pushing their friend in a wheelchair to the overkook. Quite a feat.
Wow that’s incredible!!! 👏🏼👏🏼
You guys make semi-lockdown sweeter!😃 With all of your amazing videos. Safe travels!
We are SO thankful for our van and the great outdoors to keep us sane!
If you want to explore Arkansas, I highly suggest getting any of Tim Ernst’s books. He’s created beautiful books of different trails, waterfalls and beautiful sceneries in Arkansas.
Thank you so much for the recommendation! We will have to check it out!
Wow, awesome views !!! I was thinking "bummer, no dogs", but with those ledges / drops, I can see why.
Oh gosh that is so scary! Glad both of y'all are okay!
Love Arkansas ❤️
It’s so pretty up there!
We were so surprised by the beauty!
You should see it when it snows.
If you want to see elk in the east check out the Oconaluftee area of Great Smokie Mountains N.P. it's on the south side. They show up in the field by the visitor's center daily. Like you said dawn and dusk are the best veiwing times. They elk there are Roosevelt Elk.
Awesome! Good to know! We haven’t spent much time in that park. The one time we tried it was a madhouse! So many people
I have been to Hawksbill Krag three times and never got a picture of me out on the Krag. My wife was with me once but wouldn't go close. I left her with my camera at a good spot asked her to take a picture. When I got back, she had zoomed out to the point it just looked like a was standing on rock. Another time I took my drone with me, but it was too crowded to fly it.
The horseshoes River bend in Buffalo River reminds me of the Breaks Interstate Park in southeastern Kentucky & southwestern Virginia
Ooo we haven’t been there, but we love the horseshoe river bend!
@@AdventuresofAplusK You will have to go some day for Adam’s benefit since the Breaks are also called the Grand Canyon of the South!! Check it out at www.Breakspark.com.
Wow! Decades ago and here I see sights I know like myown hand.
In the 1820's my family pioneered this very valley.
That is the area up and around the old Goat Trail as y'all call it. That trail was originally a Osage trail. White pioneers would normally not take that trail into the valley as cattle, pigs, and wagons obviously not traverse that trail.
Hope you guys visit my home state, Louisiana one day. New Orleans is nice and our swamp and marshes are pretty 😁 cool vid
We definitely will! We have been to New Orleans before and the food is SO good!
O M G ! Did you say butter pecan latte YUM (drooling) 🤤

A more (the enjoyable) hike to the Big Bluff is down the Sneed's Creek from Compton.
Is the trail safe for beginners?
@@AdventuresofAplusK Thanks for the info. :) Hope to visit soon. Great video btw.
That's NOT the Goats Trail! Y'all call it that now but that's Uncle Frank's Trail. That was the old Osage Indian trail. There is an old Osage village near the place where cliff hangs out over the river.
We want to take our dog and looking for places to hike in Arkansas. Did Whitaker Point trail allow dogs?
Yes it does
Mention of Tudor's Biscuit World in WV!
We went there a couple months ago and it was awesome!
Whitaker Point - The church cemetery’s porta potty is pretty decent if your in a desperate situation!😂

No dogs=no interest for me but beautiful shots!!!
We spend 99% of our time with Kona, so it's kind of nice to get a break from her sometimes haha. She's a handful! 😅
