Thanks for the video bro. I lost my keys a few weeks ago and have to do this. Although my ignition barrel can turn over without the key, I can't start the car lol. I'm going to have to try this. Hopefully I don't have no security relearn bullshit either. I had to swap PCMs

If my key gives 6.03, how much resistance should I get?

Bro you said a temporary fix? Or is it better to use the wire you made?
It's a fix not a temporary fix it's just a bypass is what you're calling it your key puts out so much resistance and you got to read it with that meter that he had on it you find out that resistance and then you go on down to radio shack if you don't have a bunch of computer boards laying around like I do where you can salvage them, you string them together and you put it in there like you showed you one thing goes in one hole one the other, hell little black baby with half brain knows that one, no I'm just kidding man that's how you do put one end of the wire and one hole and one in the other after you figure out what your resistance is you put the probe on each side of that little thing on the key turn on your multimeter to ohms dial in the resistance at 2Kor4k boom there it is.
im late on here to post but u had some speaker wire that u you solder the resistor on. Where did you connect those wires to?

Andres Torres I'm assuming they are asking for the reading on your key.
I replaced my lock cylinder thinking that was the issue. NOPE! Here is what I have, the car will turn over but acts like its not getting fuel. The security light comes on for a few moments then turns on. The red led on the dash blinks continuously. After a while I can try it again and it will start. When I listen for a click within the engine bay of I try it then it will turn over. Will this solve my issue maybe?
If your engine turns over then it may be another issue. But I'm not entirely sure.
MrYo12891 .....turns out it was my ignition relay. $14 dollar fix.
delta3garcia was your car not starting like in the video mine doesnt start I deleted vats but im still having the problem it eventually starts back up 15-30 mins later but im getting tired of it and when i do start my car (when it wants to) usually takes me 2 or 3 times and it starts are u saying the relay got rid of the absolute not starting problem like in the video?
What if my key is smooth on silver part like no ridges at all

Okay I tested my ristance on my key at 20k and it reads 0.68? Is this a correct reading and at 200k it reads 0.07?
john doe it's been a while but I believe from that 20k reading you would need a 600 ohms resistor. every key reads different hence why I needed a higher resistor
