Having a legal market available with a variety selection of different strains and strenghts would probably lower the number of consumers with those bad side effects. While not having to fear criminal prosecution would probably increase the number of people seeking help for health issues.
As a German, I have to say that it was very long overdue. You cannot prevent consumption. It is better that consumers do not get dangerous substances in their cannabis from street dealers.

Just treat it just like you would alcohol or any other controlled substance around minors. Keep your edibles in the same place you would keep your alcohol or adult toys.
No partial legalization. Legalize it all the way. Nobody should ever be in trouble for having weed or having a certain amount of weed. And people should be totally free to grow it in their yards.
Correct. Nicotine is almost as addictive as heroine. Alcohol is also much more addictive. Both tobacco and alcohol are also way mor eharmful than cannabis. Cannabis addiction is a psychological addiction, and can be overcome more easily. The risks are more on the psychological side.
The appeal to nature fallacy has no place in the modern discourse about drug policy - Btw Cannabis is also a "cocktail of chemicals" with THC and CBD being the most prominent of the bunch, but just because something is naturally occuring such as Opium doesn't mean it's safer than human made chemicals with LSD being one of *the* safest drugs in existance. @@lemonade_ib
I don't know how anyone, and the CDU can argue legalization increases crime. Legalization helps to combat Weed as major source of revenue for crime groups, while also making it safer for the consumer, as there's less of aa risk of it being mixed with other drugs, making a risk of overdosing.
@lefermier10 alchol? And bad for health well suger, fast food, processed foods, red meats, television would you like all of that to be made illegal as well? Just as bad as weed if you abuse it. Such a silly comment just say anything if you have no idea what ur talkinf about
@militant_pacifistYou are not living in Germany, are you? There is no single bus or train station that a smoker would respect. There is absolutely no law enforcement, just random stickers. I have autism and the smell drives me crazy and because of it, I avoid public transport as much as possible.
To clarify this and other comments here.. Yes it is forbidden in train stations and there its also somewhat regulated definitely heard people (like those working there) telling others to stop. Bus stations etc. is almost impossible and to ban it in Parks (someone said its already illegal i never heard of that nor have i ever seen someone doing something about it) is from my point of view just cruel, as it's one of the best places to smoke (again in my opinion). I think we can't just look at ourselves and say "I don't ever want to experience this because I don't gain everything from this" public spaces is for everyone. Someone can be loud someone can smoke someone can pee somewhere and it'll smell bad... it's something we deal with in life and are minor issues so just because something is slightly annoying, doesn't mean it should be banned. We can always move to a spot we rather be as we always do with things we don't like. As long as it's open air and away from (most) children I don't know why it should be bad. Someone who never drives will also find a lot of inconveniences because of it but it would be ridiculous to say it should be banned where I live because i personally don't like/need it.
@@SonnyDarvish You should deal with this irrational problem yourself. What about the smoke that comes out of car exhausts or the smoke that comes out of a restaurant extractor fan. What if these smells "drove you crazy". Should the whole world change to suit you. Cannabis is a natural substance, a plant, a herb. The smoke from cars ,engines burnt vegetable oil etc is definitely more toxic and unavoidable when in built up areas. Far worse than the scent of a herb being burnt.
Next in the pipeline : psilocybine. There re already approx. 20 companies listed on the Canadian TSXV stock exchange that are developing products from psilocybine (magic mushrooms). Many are aiming at offering micro-doses eg. small doses that only alters very slightly the perception and senses. Some mainstream newspaper are already telling about the benefits of psilocybine. Im 40 years old and weed has been available all the time, in every country I travelled to. It's absolutely normalized in pop-culture, movies and so on as well. The older I get the more I get annoyed by the argument that legalization would send a wrong signal.
I just can't figure out the math. 3 plants are allowed while 50g maximum at home for personal use is allowed. Even as a complete beginner you can easily harvest more than 50g dry weight from one plant.
I'm a specialized posthumus cleaner, meaning I clean apartments and houses after the deceased. 8/10 it's a suicide/accident-overdose. 8/10 the cause is alcohol (paired with depression.) 0/10 was caused by weed. The rest are the elderly. If you have questions I'm glad to answer.
That is not true. I support legalization, but like alcohol, there should be restrictions to smoking while driving and like cigarettes in the U.S. at least, there should be no smoking designations at certain places. Those who smoke and drive are causing carnage. They are either over chilling to the point of causing major backups as they crawl through the streets. I am talking up to 20 miles under the speed limit. Then there is the smoke itself. It smells like an overripe dead skunk and the smoke that billows gets non smokers high and puts even more people at risk. Like alcohol, smokers are impaired when they smoke. Common sense needs to be put into consideration as well and unfortunately will have to be put into law at some point because some people don't have it.
This is the 4th or 5th video article with interviews of the same people that I’ve watched, and not once, amongst all the justification of the decriminalisation of weed, is there even a single mention of alcohol and the way it is managed and kept away from minors as much as is possible. Weird.
Cannabis is NOT addictive. Period. And it has an incredible list of health concerns that it treats without side affects! And any doctor that says otherwise has not done their research! Period. Congrats Germany!
Just to be clear it not physically "addictive", if you stop you won't go through withdrawal. No shaking and sweating it out, or dying like with alcohol.
@@thomasjamesbailey1209 Also not true. There is sweating, being nervous or a bit angry, more difficulties to sleep and a decreased appetite. It's not for long (even as a heavy user usually this only lasts for a week), but it can be unpleasent at times. Ofc it's not nearly as bad as with alcohol or hard drugs and depends on how often and what strain you smoked.
Do we really need to state the obvious anymore? You could count on one hand the amount of people who have died directly from cannabis consumption. Meanwhile we are talking millions upon millions who perish from alcohol.
Who care what “message it sends to kids” first this is an adult world not one catering to children and second what messages does legal tobacco and alcohol send to kids? None obviously.. that’s just a Prohibitionist scare tactic.

Cannabis should be absolutely just as legal and easy to obtain anywhere as alcohol currently is. In every single state. No exceptions. It's so easy: As legal and easy to obtain/use as alcohol currently is. Why hold relatively benign, often healing cannabis to any sort of irrational, stricter double standard than perfectly legal alcohol?...........
Waiting for this since 20 years now. Ive had 4 House searches, spent thousands of bucks for lawyers and spent over three years in prison because i Love a plant
As someone who doesn't smoke or drink anything, weed is safer than cigarettes and people who are high are calmer and less likely to commit crimes than people who are drunk. So if cigarettes and alcohol are allowed, it makes sense to allow weed.
500 members splitting 3 plants and allowed maximum 1/4 oz each? Also if you grow 3 at home are you violating the law for possessing over 50g? What a nightmare to enforce or even follow this law.
the 3 plant rule applies to individuals, not the club. If you are at home, I'm sure you're fine with that much weed. If they catch you in public with over 25g, you can get in trouble.
Who would you rather meet on a a street, a bunch of guys drunk looking for a fight or a bunch of guys high looking for a biscuit? Johnny Vaughan said this live on the big breakfast show UK!
I used to be pro marijuana legalization. Then it became legal in surrounding states where I live and was de facto legalized because the police aren't going to enforce what is now considered a petty crime. Now the seaside town where I live smells like an absolute garbage dump. Every single block of it. The fresh ocean breeze is nothing but weed stench now. Lord knows what would happen if it is fully legalized here. I want my fresh air back.
Should be legal everywhere. Alcohol is drug and legal. Not even expensive, can be bought everywhere, but we are not drunk all the times, just because it's legal.
Alcohol is alcohol. There are differences between beer, wine, tequila but basically it's alcohol. The problem with 'drugs' is that the word is used for totally different substances, from weed to cocaine to magic mushrooms to chemical-based substances, etc. When folks and medias and politicians are talking and thinking about drugs they can as well mix them all, for them they're all the same. That's a problem.

The most dangerous thing about weed is criminal prosecution.
And paranoia and anxiety. Don't get me wrong I smoke but defo effect some ppl

Having a legal market available with a variety selection of different strains and strenghts would probably lower the number of consumers with those bad side effects.

Just treat it just like you would alcohol or any other controlled substance around minors. Keep your edibles in the same place you would keep your alcohol or adult toys.
Legalise it more and more please, especially in the U.K it will hopefully chill people out
No partial legalization. Legalize it all the way. Nobody should ever be in trouble for having weed or having a certain amount of weed. And people should be totally free to grow it in their yards.
I have heard tobacco is more addictive
I have heard the pope wears a funny hat
And that is right.
Correct. Nicotine is almost as addictive as heroine. Alcohol is also much more addictive. Both tobacco and alcohol are also way mor eharmful than cannabis. Cannabis addiction is a psychological addiction, and can be overcome more easily. The risks are more on the psychological side.
It's also much more natural, a leaf, alcohol is chemicals and cigarettes is a cocktail of chemicals.
No drug should have been criminalized. We should have strictly regulated them from the get-go. Like motorcycles, light aircraft or skydiving.
I don't know how anyone, and the CDU can argue legalization increases crime.
Legalization helps to combat Weed as major source of revenue for crime groups, while also making it safer for the consumer, as there's less of aa risk of it being mixed with other drugs, making a risk of overdosing.

Nice move Germany. As a non-smoker I’d also go further and restrict any smoking in public places. At least transport stations, parks, etc.
@militant_pacifistYou are not living in Germany, are you? There is no single bus or train station that a smoker would respect. There is absolutely no law enforcement, just random stickers. I have autism and the smell drives me crazy and because of it, I avoid public transport as much as possible.
@@SonnyDarvishnow that's just BS XD
Parks? That's too much. If not parks, then where would it be used?
Illegal dealers are a gateway to harder drugs, cannabis is not.
I hope this will come to Denmark soon
In South Africa we got something similar for personal use but hasn't gone through parliament yet 😢😢😢
The population is being prepped. These products will very likely follow the same steps as cannabis : first for therapeutic ueses, then legalized for the masses.

I heard that's a job people only do for a few years because it's often depressing, but I am interested: How to get the job and what's the pay?
Beer was my gateway drug to cannabis. Germany should ban beer for being a gateway drug.
Alcohol is more dangerous and can cause carnage, weed smokers avoid carnage 😆
Weird.

Use among minors has actually declined here in Washington state since we legalized weed.
