Back in Germany and training for war in the same vehicles that I remember from 20 years and more ago. It really is time that we Brits modernised our battle-winning equipment. Even well-trained and motivated people have their limitations.

They had a prototype upgraded warrior which lockheed Martin had developed and tested which included a new Turret and gun and improved armour . Their factory at Amptill had been upgraded to do the work then the government changed it's mind and scrapped the program and went for the US Ajax .

Yes. It gives a whole new point to what we did in BAOR all those years ago. What a pity we threw it all away and all the support services that went with it. Where are the medical services, stores and maintenance that we relied on then. It’s no use saying we can have NHS doctors and facilities a) you have to get people there and b) you have to have them. I think the support for the forces is a shambles on what was available in the seventies and it was starting to slide down the slope then. For the war we are now building up to we need more personnel, viable equipment and adequate ammunition but one has the strong opinion much of the money has been spun off to politically organised accounts as covid has clearly shown us exist. We Brits probably have the best trained military in the world but we need to invest in quality with quantity. We were once a globally operational fighting force like the US. Times have changed and we need to change to put us back up there with the best because more often than not, as shown in two world wars and with Ukraine, we are the first to stand against threats to us and our neighbours.

Adding armour to the hatches would possibly make them too heavy to open and close quickly and easily.The incident I think you are referring to would have happened anyway as the hatches on the struck tank were open.

Challenger 2 is the biggest disaster of brittish tank builders. If you use google translate and read ukrainian battle reports and feedback's from elite forces like Azov, then you will see that ukrainians are in panic from Challenger 2, they are highly unreliable tanks constantly braking down and simply lacking motor power. Tank is good for deserts and paved roads but it is too weak for ukrainian terrain. That is why ukrainians are using leopards, mraps and every single battle machine there is, except challenger!

If you use google translate and read ukrainian battle reports and feedback's from elite forces like Azov, then you will see that ukrainians are in panic from Challenger 2, they are highly unreliable tanks constantly braking down and simply lacking motor power. Tank is good for deserts and paved roads but it is too weak for ukrainian terrain. That is why ukrainians are using leopards, mraps and every single battle machine there is, except challenger!
