Love the candy dish candle! What a great idea! I love to make candles. I use the large craft sticks to hold my wicks. They don’t roll around like the straws.
Hi Julie dear! I am loving these videos! You have so many ideas for “ making” !!!! I am into crafts as well as thrifting. Love this wooden stocking idea!!! I love fabric ! Stockings came out beautifully. Love the wrapped canes!! And candle making .. got me excited with ideas! Lol . Beautiful candle See you tomorrow have a good day tomorrow ❤ x
Julie, I wanted to give you a tip on making candles. I worked in a candle factory for many years. You don't wick the candles until after you have poured the wax into your container. What you want to do is pour your wax in and as it cools slightly you will see the bottom begin to get slightly soft, that is when you want to wick your candle. The wicks will stand up by themselves at that point because the wax is forming up and hold it still. Also, to have a smooth top on the candle you want to reserve a bit of the wax. After you wick the candle wait until the candle begins to look formed but is still soft to the touch. Then take your wicks and lightly move them in a circle which will create a small well. Take the reserved wax and pour it over the top of the candle. This is called topping and it gives you a smooth finished look. This way you need nothing but the wax to hold your wick in place and you don't have to struggle with sticks and straws to make them stand up. It will make your candle making process much more enjoyable. Love your channel and look forward to Thriftmas every year. Merry Christmas!
Sooo pretty! That is a $30 candle! What a gorgeous gift. I have been wanting to try making my own candles. Have seen them done in thrifted tea cups too which are very pretty. I have saved some of my favorite containers from prior candles. If freeze remnant, the remaining candle wax will break up and pop off leaving you a perfect container for a new candle. Can't wait to try now. Feeling inspired 🤗
Wow! Your hands went from see-through to tan. Either is beautiful, as is your beautiful mind. I have learned so much from you. What? Stacking. Yes, STACKING. Now we have places for new things. fun!😊 Earsatz from Houston
I used to make and sell candles. The best way to keep the wicks straight, I used wooden Chinese stick ,roll the wick around the stick until it reached the container. When wax sets up remove stick and cut the wick.
Hi Julie, that candy dish with the candle turned out so pretty. It would make a nice Christmas gift. The stockings are so rustic looking, I love how you did them. The candy canes turned out as well. Great job on all of them. Thanks for sharing with us. Oh, and I love the wall quilt.
Very impressed on your DIY skills! I tend to collect things but never get around to working on them! All of your Good Will finds turned out so pretty! Love these videos!
Like them all but the QUILT is my favorite! Thanks for showing how to make a candle. I have made them before and melted crayons in the wax to have a colored candle. Looks nice once it is done. It is beautiful!! Thanks for sharing!!
Julie, I am enjoying the Christmas videos and watching you create! The candy canes you wrapped are sweet. Stocking and candle both great too! You appear to be having fun with "thriftmas" as are we!
All your diy's were beautiful. Hard to pick a fav. Thanks for showing us how to do a candle. I wonder if you wanted it sented, could you put like vanilla favoring in the wax.
Oh Julie just gorgeous your videoing is like something straight out of a Better Homes and Gardens Magazine everything looks so lovely well done to you ❤
That candle turned out so pretty! I also loved the ornaments you wrapped. When you bought those I thought I would have passed on them, but aside from the candle they are favorite lol! Gotta think out of the box 😊
Hi Julie! This was a great video. Thank you for your time, effort, and willingness to simply share the truth. ❤😊 The wrapped candy canes diy was fabulous! I didn't expect them to turn out that way! Love them!! Also, I have that exact same Avon dish with the lid 😅 I found it at a thrift store for 1.99! I never consider making candles out of things like that. It came out gorgeous!! I use mine for cotton and qtips. Anyway, I Loved everything. All of it. Thank you again 🙏 Your friend Kristine
Julie, I just LOVE your DIY videos. The way you take the time to explain the instructions so clearly is amazing. You must have been a teacher at some point in your life. The items you present to try and replicate are actually doable! What a concept!! Here is wishing you and those you love a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. ❤😊
I just pour a little wax in the bottom and then set wicks in and let them dry. If you pour the wax when it is too hot it will collapse and make hole in candle.
That just goes to show you that you can have a beautiful home with some creativity and thrifted items. Enjoying your videos and wishing you a blessed holiday season. xoxo
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And i just love it all. Great job all around. The candle is so outstanding. It does look very high end. And yes you would pay twenty or even more for that. Great job, you truly are clever with the make overs. I loved them all ❤❤❤
Julie, it’s hard to pick a favorite because I love them all. But I love the Santa ornaments and the candy canes. The candle you made is gorgeous. See ya tomorrow ❤️🤍💚
Julie you do such a great job on all your DIYs. You style them and all your thrift items beautifully. That candle would make a gorgeous gift. Have a blessed evening. Marion
I think I would have glued the material on the stocking first and after it dried just cut round the edge. That way, you're absolutely certain that it fits right.
You need white chalk to trace out your sock pattern 😊 That will just brush off.
Thank you! ☺️ and I actually have some of that in my sewing stuff lol. I should have used that.
@ThrilledThrifter it's easy to forget when you have lots of stuff going on. I couldn't have a channel, I'd be a complete wreck 😅
Everything is lovely, Julie! And the candle is so pretty! I don't think I can pick a favorite.
