Just wanted to say, I think your videos are some of the best online. I’m planning on going out via Ventura Harbor Wednesday for the first time on the ocean. Keep up the good work!
To me ur channel is the best, you show us where to launch how to launch where to fish +++, for me i live here in the stick when i take my kayak to the ocean looking for where to launching is very helpful for me
As always love your videos. Sucks we can't get out this Friday but that's what happens sometimes. I'll be out there this Sunday as long as weather permits. If anyone wants to join you're more than welcome.
LTrain knows. have him show you how he won the 65th annual Honeybadger Biggin' Bass Tourney last year at the Quarry. he's got it wired. we call that spot the "Quarry" because many big Rockfish have been winched up from that spot.
Conditions for opener was very nice and calm until noon. Had the whole place to myself. Limit on Chucklehead (1 LOL) on the first drop. Rockfish are all chunky.
nice! remarkable about the Chuckleheads. if you had asked me, i would have said that they are the most plentiful Rockfish in Redondo. so - how many 35" Lings did you catch?
Chuckleheads are the strongest Rockfish I've caught so far. They give a good fight and the larger size, 20"+ rarely suffer from barotrauma, even from depth of over 300+ ft. I did went back out on Wednesday to target Lings, but I didn't get any love.
thanks for the kind words. when kayak fishing at that depth, anchoring is impractical, if not downright impossible. you need to figure out which way you're being pushed around (usually wind, sometimes current). then, you point the nose of your kayak into that momentum and pedal/paddle a bit every few seconds. that essentially keeps you in place over the structure. it's a lot of work, and having some kind of pedal kayak is a huge advantage. good luck.
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305that makes a. Lot of sense. Dang so im guessing with a small boat its even harder since youd have to keep kicking the engine in gear
well, with a small boat, an anchor might be feasible, although i'm not familiar with small boat operations. i'd imagine you'd go past the mark into the wind (or current), then drop the anchor and let the wind drift you on top of the spot. or, you could go past the spot, then drift fish over the mark, then rinse and repeat.
@@mrcrazypyro not sure about that, lol. but, i'm confident that the people we paddle with are solid, non-panicky people who aren't going to flee the scene if he comes to collect.

@@alwaysfishing8465 what? you are the King of Lings here in Redondo. the rest of us mere mortals don't stand a chance :)
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 LOL I was just lucky, at the right place at the right time.
@@alwaysfishing8465 nah, when you're at the right place at the right time on multiple occasions, it's more than luck :)
Very informative, thank you. I learned things I can apply to NorCal where I will be using my kayak.

more than welcome. generally speaking - the further up North you go, the rougher the conditions tend to get.
Dope videos bro, learning so much. When you rockfish out of redondo in the 150-250 depth, are you just drifting? Or are you anchored up

Hey there, what time does the parking lot open at King Harbor by the launch spot?
i think it's as early as you want. if you get there super early, the kiosk "arm" will be up.
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 thank you sir! Just got bait and now heading to the lot at the moment!
@@mr.donster3129 my pleasure. parking can get expensive. sometimes you can partially offset the cost by getting receipt from one of the shops.
Just got here. 7AM. The entrance was open and someone else in the lot told me that the parking fees begin at 8am
@@mr.donster3129 Any luck? (:
Was just wondering, you still planning that Central Coast trip? The TaxMan has made it know that he’s still home there... near shore too!
yes, still going. and yes, the landlord scares the s*** outta me :)
Hey as long as we pay our taxes, im sure he"ll leave us alone
