I use to go a lot to the small lagoon back in the day. Once I spend a few hours in the bathroom cuz I got chased by a pack of large dogs, probably not there anymore it was more than 10 years ago
Hi. I really appreciate your channel since I’m new to kayaking and fishing. I bought the Garmin echomap 64cv for ocean fishing per your rec. But I wanted to try lake pyramid. Is my Garmin ocean fishing fish finder useless for a lake or can I somehow make it work? Thanks.
The 64cv is totally fine for Lake Pyramid, and it's a great unit overall. By the way, that lake is around 300' near the dam. I would set the cone angle to the widest (i think it's 24 degrees) for shallow water, then adjust as you work deeper water. If you turn the A-Scope on, the diameter of the cone will be displayed on the bottom of that column. Really, the biggest benefit of the "3" freshwater series is that it'll have contour maps of the prominent lakes, but Pyramid is non included anyway. On that of that, the Echomaps have the Quickdraw Contour feature, which enables you to create your own contour maps as you paddle along.
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 Thanks so much for the tips! That's super helpful! I just used my Garmin only once last year inside the Redondo Beach harbor (I had no idea what I was doing. Lol.) I was with my son and turned around when the waters got a bit choppy at the mouth (I think you gave ample warning. Haha.) I live near Redondo, but would you venture out to MDR or try Redondo again if I just want my kid to get on to some fish - any fish? Seems like lake fishing (Pyramid) is much harder to catch fish, but I figure it's safer with a kid? Thanks again dude. Keep up the good work!
@@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305 Yeah, I have a tandem. Takes 2 to 2 1/2 people, up to over 700 lbs supposedly. I tried it out with 2, 2 1/2, and me only, and it seemed ok. (I do pretty much all the paddling though, ha ha.) My son's in 3rd grade.
Honeybadger this marvin , how are you I hope you are doing well . I been watching your videos and I was wondering if you were interested go fishing in Newport Beach to make some conpany this coming weekend on 6/7/22
Btw, I noticed that your YT channel background picture is of Morro Rock. We had a very, very, difficult trip up there a few wknds ago. Video should be coming soon.
Castaic is so awe fully over regulated. I fish there ridiculously often and between the police, rangers, lifeguards, and entree staff it is difficult to enjoy the public lands we are taxed heavily for. The lower lake is poorly stocked and over fished which makes the crazy pricing even more of a scam.
i have to admit - i don't fish there much at all, but i definitely got a similar take. is there a lake in that area that you like more? how about Pyramid?
Castaic is the closest to me which keeps me from trying other spots since moving here but I have been really wanting to try Piru, Pyramid, Qual, Castac(Lebec), and Casitas. Where do you like around here? @@honeybadgervoodoooutdoors7305
Lol I went to swim there no donut floaties allowed period. I have one with a cup hoalder. damn. In a way it's sad. In other lakes they do too much mayhem. Find the balance ..The lifeguards dont' want to have to look under the float. Oh but if you are in a speedboat go ahead scare all the nature away or jetski.
@@Frank020its so silly and un American. on memorial day i watched the lower lake staff tell an inflatable kayaker to get their boat inspected and the kayaker tell them the upper lake inspection told them to go to the lower because it wasnt necessary. they held this person at the gate for 30minutes causing major traffic and many cars to give up and leave the line. this person just ended up just leaving. the staff is just a bunch of lib Karen muppets patroling and trying to mess with normal people trying to enjoy a public lake. they literally never enforce waking others or 5mph in 100ft radius to a beach in use or hunter harassment of fisherman. they mostly just try to phish for alcohol. they have no respect for classic American enjoyment of a lake including swimming, fishing, or drinking a beer.
Ridiculous pricing in Castaic trust me it sucks they will always harass you in that lake one thing or another I was raised in the area and they actually have a sheriff station up on the upper Lake we have to have our presents everywhere now don’t we including your relaxation places freedom gone in America
nice the fishing arm is on the right. the water ski arm is on the left. I'm leery to launch due to all of the big fast boats. Thanks
I appreciate your videos bro. Thanks.

i hear you. i like personal freedom (and responsibility), and i generally choose places that aren't as crowded at Castaic.
