  • Our boat was parked 17 years ago. Time to get it running again.
So far my son and I have replaced the water pump, and we tested the fuel pump, and it’s good. We had to replace the power pack due to no spark, and all that we have left to do is rebuild the carburetor.
Let’s get this 38-year-old Canadian-made Johnson running again!!

excellent. btw- the manual says not to soak carbs because there are some glue-like substances holding in some of the parts. Great vid. It helped me. thanks👍👍

Don’t forget the fogging oil when dry starting after it has sit.

Do you happen to have the part number for the kit you used? If not, do you remember where you got it? I just bought the same engine and it has the same problem! Hoping to get it fixed soon!

Great work! How do you use the manual primer thing before start, is it two pull-push and then let it sit in pushed position? I have never understood the correct startup procedure. Some people say you should leave it half way in when you pull the rope also

      Good morning
Sorry for the late response. On my Johnson outboard, you pull out the primer. The pulling out action sucks fuel from the carburetor bowl, and bypasses the carburetor injecting the fuel just behind the carburetor, between the carburetor and the cylinder. Pushing in the primer reloads the primer with fuel and a second pull will send fuel up the line to the engine if the first pull wasn’t enough. Hope that helps.

Do you have a link to the fuel hoses or part# or size used? From main to fuel pump ---> to elbow....elbow to carburetor...

Good morning. I do not. This work was completed last year, and my memory gets sketchy before last week. Sorry.
