Dang, I see the tail camera has a great view of the tail chase and rejoins. The selfie stick also has great perspective with the acro. I should have done this years ago. I hope I can keep up with editing. Thanks for the inspiration.
@stoldrag85. Yeah those 360 cameras are great for capturing video. You’ll quickly get use to editing.
As always high Q, Wheels in the Sky. ✌️
@mpschaefer1. Hey MP. Thanks. I think I get my engine back next week. Can’t wait to get back in the Rocket!!
Best RV video I’ve seen. Amazing camera angles and editing. As new RV7A pilots my son and I really appreciate your hard work here. Great balance of sound and narration too.
Hope you do more videos soon!
Thanks for those kind words. And, congratulations on the RV7A. I predict a great summer ahead for you and your son.
The camera angles, POV, etc= FANTASTIC perspective, as is the flying...especially inverted/rolls. GREAT stuff....and I know the airplane I want to buy!
@Tommy Nikon. Thanks Tommy. It looks like I some how missed your comments 2 months ago…
I was using an Insta 360 One X2 camera. It makes videos easy, just turn it on and fly.
Every time I see a Rocket for sale, I want it. They’re not that much faster than the RV8, but they climb better. really helps in the mountains. Thanks for watching
Are you kidding me?? I cannot wait to get a RV after watching this! So cool.
@marzandtheman2133. Hey. Thanks. The RV’s are just great. Then after that get a high wing for back country. That’s what I’m doing right now up at Johnson Creek Idaho.
Soon as I get my airline job I’m buying a RV or a Rocket. Those just look like too much fun.
I was super excited when I received the notification that you had a new video. Awesome video that captures amazing aviating. I’ll wear this video out in anticipation for the next one. 🤙🤙🤙
Thanks RV Junkie. I’ll get to work on the next.
Having fun and fun flying. Like the narrating as well , good style.
Thanks MP Schaefer. I appreciate the comments. Thank you for watching.
Another excellent video. Thanks!
Thanks Robin. I appreciate that.
Batman!
You'd blend in the squadron right now with Mustache March. But in a few days you'd be back leading the pack now that you're mustache life! Another solid vid, keep up the great work.
Thanks Splint99. Y’all keep watching and I’ll keep videoing.
My boy and I have watched this quite a few times. Funnest edit yet, so fun!
Hey Mike, good to hear from you. Thanks. Hey, I moved. Me and Joe bought hanger E in the toy box .Just go about 100’ south of my old place, then turn left.
Great video as always, extremely inspirational. Good team, well synchronized. Guessing most if not all ex-military. Please keep the videos coming!!!
Hi Vlodek. Thanks for those comments, because often when I’m trying to put together a video, I want to quit- thinking it’s just not that interesting. But if I can convey just a little bit of the enjoyment of flying, then I’m happy.
Yes, all ex-military, not a requirement, just worked out that way.
@@WheelsInTheSky I understand how you feel about building such a video. But for individuals that are into aviation or those that have the dream/desire to fly one day, these type of videos are priceless. For them/me they keep us motivated and help us to stay the course to one day realize our goals. I have lost count how many times I have wanted to give up. A video like yours, is all I need to recharge my motivation and keep pushing to one day have my own working airplane (and I'm almost there). So please don't quit, keep making the videos. They help more than you get credit for and realize. CYA
@@Vlodek9 Thanks for that input Vlodek9. As long as people seem to enjoy, I’ll keep trying to capture the excitement and share.
What kind of plane are you working on?
Another brilliant video :) Great job Wheels!
Thank you Ed. Much appreciated !
Totally cool video! I like the pole cam on the wing!
@Ed B. Thanks. Yeah, having a big selfie stick on your plane is a lot of fun.
Thanks for the bumpy ride.... That was fantastic....
Dear Shannon. Great to hear from you. I’m so glad you came along. I remember you said you didn’t care for that little plane I took you in when I first got my license (a lifetime ago). It’ll be smoother next month. . I hope you’ll come fly with me more now.
@@WheelsInTheSky oh certainly I would! 😁😎
The videography / scenery is fantastic...
Hi Amir. It’s amazing to have such scenery to fly around. I hope to start doing videos of flying in the backcountry soon. In fact in Colorado right now looking at a plane that’s capable of landing in the backcountry. Thanks for watching. Talk to you next time.
Love these videos and love your chill mustacheod cowboy style
Hi Andy, thanks. Had the mustache since I was a baby ! Glad you enjoyed it. As long as people enjoy them, I’ll keep doing them.
Love that Rocket!
Thanks Tom, I bought it 1 year ago. It’s been a joy.
Amazing videos! Great use of cameras and love the mountains
@Dani Nofal. Hi Dani, thanks. Those mountains sure make it fun to do videos.
Loving the 360 out in front
Hi Gavin. it’s nice to have that perspective outside the cockpit. thanks for watching.
Awesome from KCCR!
Thanks Ron. Nice RV6 you’ve got
Very cool!
Thank you mtcondie. Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.
awesome vid
@mast3rmind777. Thank you for watching. Glad you liked it.
Nice. Thanks.
Hi Drummond. Thanks. Good to hear from you.
Nice. Love the commentary.
@Elk Circle. Thanks. I appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
@@WheelsInTheSky How you integrate the 360 view into the video makes it especially fun to watch. Keep it up.
@@elkcircle7245 Thank you. It’s people like you that keep me trying. I’ll get my butt in gear and post a few more videos shortly.
Thanks for the ride. I could ride shotgun with you anytime. Awesome flight 👍👍😎✌👊
Hi RECKEM. Thanks. Glad you liked it.
Great job with video
Thanks Gary, It’s about time to do another similar video. We flew an unplanned 3 ship this morning. I wish I’d had my camera, it was a blast!
Thanks for watching, maybe I’ll see you at Oshkosh!
Once again, great views of my house! LOL. Thanks!
Ha, send us a smoke signal next time we’re over head.
@@WheelsInTheSky Looks like you had a little fun with an F-22 over my house!
@@MarcusZabo lol. I’ll ask the other guys if they know anything. My plane has been done for maintenance for several weeks. Hope to be back in the air this week!
very cool
Thanks Bill
Another fantastic video- thanks for sharing! For smoother slo-mo shots, set your 360º camera for 60 (or better yet, 120 frames per second if it’s capable). Then you have the option to play back normal speed, or very smooth slo- mo when you want it.
Thanks. I’ll do that next time I plan a slo-mo. I usually try to stick to 30 fps just for storage space.
Молодцы ! Очень красиво !👍👍👍
@Alex 005 Thanks Alex
I would love to talk to the owner of the "super RV-4" great video yet again!
Hi Devin. I call it “super” because he uses a bigger engine. You anywhere near Utah? Or, let me talk to him tomorrow, see what he says.
@@WheelsInTheSky We'll be out your way this October headed to the high sierra fly in. I'll do my best to link up with you guys. it may be a 3-ship of RV-4's along with me.
@@devinalbrecht5176 That would be great. I’ll have to look into that fly in.
you sure know how to enjoy flying
Thank you Amir. Actually, I’m not sure how much I know anymore. But I do enjoy the flying. Thanks for the compliment and for watching.
Great looking flight. Was out doing the same in my rocket this morning. You also have your headset on backwards. The a20 seems much more comfortable to me with the L and R cups on the correct ears. Please do a video on you camera setup. I need to put some on mine.
Ha. I do a lot of things backwards. I’ll try to pay attention. I know during that flight I hit such a big bump, I hit my head on the canopy and knocked my headset off. So hopefully I put it back on right then. I’ll get to work on a video showing camera mounting. Thanks for watching. Love to see a pic of your Rocket. Chwheeler1@gmail.com
Wheels i love your videos. Your mic can be swapped to the opposite side. I see it all the time with my first officers. 😂
@@titanhank1 I obviously need a good f/o to help me. I’m retired, down hill from here !
Great flight again though it looked a bit 'buff and rumpy' on occasions. I love the tail chases and the great shots of the shadows as well. Clearly the flight was well briefed, could you include a bit of that in your videos? GA flying in the UK is back on as from next Monday - yippee! Cheers to the team as well.
Hi Watchfordpilot, That’s great flying is starting up over there. Do you have some good open countryside to fly in and others that want to go fly together?
Good idea on including some of the brief.
Good to hear from you.
@@WheelsInTheSky Hi Mr Wheels, yes got a plan. I'm part of a group of mainly former RN pilots and once we all get back current that will be on the cards,,, once the wx improves ;)
@@watchfordpilot That’s great. If you ever happen to snap a few pic’s, I’d love to see your machines !
Also super excited on notification of a new video😁. With an inverted dive like you displaying, does the speed not run to well within or close to Vne? These RVeees are so clean.
Hi Stephan. I must not have hit reply last night. You’re right, you can build speed quick. I just try not to get my nose buried and I keep the back pressure on it. Nice to hear there a people that enjoy watching. When I first posted, I thought, ahh, nobody wants to watch this.
fawesome.
@NT4XT. That was a fun day, even with the high winds.
I love your videos! What is your aviation background? Did you start off in the military? If so, what did you fly?
Hi Patrick. Thanks for watching. I started civilian, then military then airlines. Flew the F-16 and did some T-38 instruction in the USAF. Retired from the airline a couple years ago. Now just trying to enjoy my “golden years”. Glad you liked the video, they’re fun to make.
As someone else already pointed out, your channel name is hard to find. And this is a gem of a channel! By far my favorite. I'm curious about your attachment rod for the wing tip. If you have any info on what you use, i'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Hi Mazda, I remember you from before, thanks for watching. I’ll have to figure out something about my channel name. I know some friends type in “Wheels F1” and it seems to work. I never really thought much about it as I figured nobody would be watching.
I’ll try to put together a quick video this week end on what I did for my camera setup. In fact right now I’m putting the same camera set up on a Cessna 185 I just got. Can’t wait to start flying into some backcountry airstrips.
@@WheelsInTheSky that’s what I’ve been telling friends to search for. Wheels f1 rocket. Looking forward to future vids. Thanks for the reply
@@FRANKN7 I haven’t forgotten. Just busy doing annual on Rocket. Plus I got a 185 a couple weeks ago. If you give me an email, I can send you some pics on my camera mount , so you do t have to wait on me doing a video.
@@WheelsInTheSky Thanks! mazda.ebrahimi@gmail.com
Might be time to consider changing the channel name. I found it nearly impossible to find. Happy to finally be here.
Hey Will. I’ll certainly put some thought on it! Glad you found it, happy to have you watching.
awesome... Love from Australia.. what is that white stuff on the ground.
Hi Dave, I don’t care much for winter time, but it does make for some nice flying. Glad to have a friend in Australia watching !!
Can you guys do a video with an Echelon formation 7 RV's? I remember seeing a video of 8 P-47 Thunderbolts flying in Echelon formation before they flew into Germany for ground strafing attacks.
That would be cool. If there’s 7 of us up on a smooth day, I’ll get a pic. On a ruff day, I’d be embarrassed to post! Lol
Nice video as usual !!
How many cameras do you have on the plane?
And why do we not see on the left wing the support for that camera? Thanks
Hi Dave. Thanks. 2 to 4 cameras, but I don’t usually run them all at the same time. The camera on the left wing is a 360 camera and those digitally edit out the pole the camera is mounted on. No editing skill on my part. I just push the start button! I may do a video on attaching cameras to my plane. Although, I’m still a newbie.
@@WheelsInTheSky yes please on the wing camera set up. Us sea level FF pilots want to do the same. Cheers.
@@RobinMarks I’ll get to work on it.
Headset on 180*. You can swap the mic side to side
@alexgriffith7680. Hey Alex, good eye. Yeah, I tried it backwards a few times. Seemed that the top of the headset sat further back on my head and didn’t touch the canopy. I don’t have much clearance.
But now I think my seatpack chute has collapsed enough I can wear it right.
@WheelsInTheSky love the videos, trying to figure out where to mount my new 360 cam. Keep up the good work
@alexgriffith7680. That’s great you got a 360 camera. I just got a new one also. Haven’t tried it yet. My Rocket has the engine out right now.
As soon as it stops raining I’ll put it on my other plane and test it out. I’m hoping that new 8k makes a big difference.
Another fun video! What airframe did you fly in the Air Force?
Hi Holden. Thanks. I was fortunate to fly the F-16 at Hill AFB, Utah.
Thank you for your service, Sir!
These are great airplanes to fly on a RV 6A and by the way what kind of camera system is that in the back I love it could you please let me know
Correction I own a RV 6A
@Terry Sauers The Camera is an Insta 360 X2. I did a video a while back on how to set it up on an RV type airplane. Let me know if you have any questions.
Very awesome scenery, us florida pilots dont get to see that very often. In case I ever get out that way, what airport is that?
Hi Scott. Morgan County (42U). NorthEast of SLC. Pretty amazing scenery. My Rocket has been down for over a month. Annual, smoke system and some minor repairs. Hope to be back in the air shortly. Thanks for watching!
@@WheelsInTheSky I have built an RV6A and RV8A and have 180hp that gets me 200mph+. How much HP and speed do you get from your rocket, it looks amazing, and do they do anything different to help prevent flutter from higher speeds. I am ordering my next RV in a week, wondering if a 540 would make a rocket out of the RV14. :-)
@@ScottJohnson-hi7vv Hi Scott, that’s a lot of building! My Rocket has 275 hp and I don’t think I get much more speed, around 200 kts. I think the extra hp helps me in the climb more than it does top end.
That RV14 will be awesome!
Nice flight. Where do you guys fly out from?
@Farhan Khawaja. Thanks Farman. We fly out of Morgan County airport- 42U
I’ll join you one day if I get my own plane.
@@farhanfouadacca I hope you do! Where you located?
I live near Toronto and rent Cessnas out of Brampton airport.
@@farhanfouadacca That’s great. Must be some amazing places to fly up there. Stay warm!
So, what did you fly in the military?
@BellyUpFish. F16’s at Hill AFB then T38 instructor at Laughlin Texas. Had a good time! Then airlines, Northwest/Delta. I can definitely recommend the military, not so sure about the airlines.
@@WheelsInTheSky Ah very nice! I was civilian, wish I had done the military thing and I can agree with you whole heartedly on the “not sure about the airlines.” I made it to the regional level before I realized it wasn’t for me.
Nice flying. Great videos! Makes me miss my 6.
@@BellyUpFish At least you figured it out! By the time I realized that I’d rather do something else, I was in too deep! So I took a year off! That was great!
@@WheelsInTheSky Golden handcuffs! I still look up when I hear a jet go over, but I typically wonder what hotel they’re headed to see.. 😆
@@BellyUpFish Lol, that’s exactly right !!
Alll it takes is money to making this happen and what fun it would be in either aircraft
Hi Bernard. Yes, money or time. For me, both. But I’m supposed to be in my golden years. I’ve waited and saved my whole life. The delayed gratification is now over. So I just want to share the delight for those who are still waiting their turn. So they can see what awaits them in retirement!
Thanks for watching. If you’re anywhere nearby, come out to our airport.
I’m in the process of buying a flying F1. It would be great if I could pick you brain a bit.
Sure. I’m not an expert. I bought mine 1 year ago. I have a friend who built his. But glad to help if I can. Chwheeler1@gmail.com
It was all good except for the cameraman. The camera should have been held with the airplane as a reference ie: using the instrument panel for the reference and NOT the horizon. The effects of the aerobatics would have been more exhilarating as in the past I did the same thing with my cameraman holding level with the airplane and not the horizon.
@Bill B Hey Bill. Yeah, I agree. I think I tried once, but in the 360 mode I couldn’t find a way to turn off auto stabilization. Maybe I need to add a GoPro looking forward and for rolls use video from the GoPro. Good point, thanks for the input.
