- I've finally gotten my teleprompter from the Padcaster campaign on Kickstarter. Here are my thoughts on the whole debacle and the product itself. It was a long time in coming but honestly I'm a patient person and was in no rush to get it. I'm excited to have it in my hands and will be putting it to use regularly.
Ironically I call my review series "Better Late Than Never" reviews and it has never rung more true!

I got mine about 2 months ago. I've played around with it but finally used it for real on a short piece. The main thing I don't like about it is the ghosting on the text. I've used lots of "professional" prompters over the years and NEVER had text ghosting. This must be due to a cheaper glass. The other thing I really find disappointing is that there's no way to have an "operator" controlling the speed of the text while watching on a second monitor. The prompter seems to ONLY be for selfie shooting, with the on-camera person controlling the stop start and speed of the text. If you're shooting a person who, say, is holding a product, they either have to set the exact speed and stay with it, and never go off-script, or have someone else controlling, which is what professional applications always do. The Elgato prompter is fed from a laptop, so there can be an operator. Other than that, it's nice, works as it should, nice case and certainly worth the money,.
I'm going to have to agree with all of this. I like the simplicity of it and its compact size. It's definitely not a professional, studio grade teleprompter. It works for what it is and I'm content with that.

LOL, same problem as I had - one of the bolts had damaged threads because some clumsy person had not managed to enter the bolt correctly into the threads. I removed both nuts and found a similar bolt from an old GoPro camera to fix it ☺
Thankfully I kept working that out without breaking it!

I didn't own the original from a few years ago but I heard it was smaller. That's all I really know, sorry!
Are you able to attach an ND filter to the 67mm ring? How do you go about making this happen with an ND filter and the Padcaster?
Entirely depends on the ND filter. I have 67mm ND filters from Moment and they are threaded on the outside so I can attach the padcaster mounting ring directly on the ND filter.
I ordered one too. Question, will this work with screw on nd filters?
As long as the ND filter has threads on the exterior!
Whats the furthest away do you think you could stand from the teleprompter ans still use it?
I suppose it really comes down to how good your eye sight is! Haha. But probably no more than 10 feet. You'd have to start increasing font size and it would get ridiculous to use
I have the same problem with the remote not working on my pixel fold. Did anyone ever figure this out?
Josh Apter has acknowledged the issue and has asked their app developers to work on a fix. So perhaps one will come in the near future!

Pixel user here- the remote doesn't work for me, either. :( start and stop would be nice, at least... otherwise the unit looks and works as advertised.

I received mine two weeks ago. Very flimsy plastic, no instructions. The remote does not work with my Pixel 7.
It's certainly on the thin side but I also don't think you want a ton of weight hanging off the end of a lens. And yeah I'm still waiting to hear about the remote + pixel 7
remote doesn’t work with amazon fire tablet either.
The lack of instructions- or an instructional video is disappointing. It would be hard to argue that they didn't have time to make one. Also, no go for the remote her either on my Pixel.
