I'm another backer who ordered the Parrot Pro upon seeing Gerald's video. It is late February and I haven't yet received it. Making it even more annoying is that the product is carried by large retailers such as Amazon and B&H. Josh should have first shipped it out to those who had misplaced their faith in him and bought based on a hope and a prayer. Josh likely used the Kickstarter money to order the necessary parts to manufacturer the prompters. There is no good excuse that those of us who supported this mess are having to wait to get the prompter AFTER those who bought thru the big retailers got theirs. Hopefully, Josh will sell his business to some outfit who has the necessary experience and treats customers right. He's made so many mistakes and created so much frustration along the way that I would never order another of his products again.
I hope you get it soon! From the last update, it looks like they’re processing the last of them so it should be shipped I would expect.
As far as returning business to PadCaster, I completely agree with you, and I will never purchase from them again. I think there is some merit to Gerald update video talking about how the purchases were beyond their capabilities to provide, but it doesn’t change the fact that it was handled extremely poorly. The refusal to be a part of the community message board, allow it to be put on to retailers websites, and the general lack of concern over the consumer made it show the true colors of how they view their customer base.
It is now March 9 and still do not have the Parrot Pro, which I ordered months and months ago. I have written off this purchase as a bad decision and just hope that the lesson I've learned through this debacle is worth the money as that's all I have to show for it. I definitely sent the shipping invoice for shipping cost that I received a few months ago. A week or two ago I e-mailed the company, asking for an update as when I might receive it. That query has not been answered. I am waiting for the El Gato to become available and will purchase one of those as soon as it does.
I've been happy with mine. I think the price was fair. Apart from the delayed delivery, the only other irritation is the need to remove the rings to use the lens cover. I don't notice the ghosting at all when I'm recording. App and setup was fast. It's my first teleprompter so can't compare it to others. But it does just what i need, albeit several months later than expected.
Yeah having to remove the rings is a real pain, but I've grown quite fond of it. Since I have a small studio, it's helped a ton having something that doesn't need it's own tripod.
I saw another video and he had that issue with the phone showing but he figured out that you can tilt the tray down to click and that gets rid of the issue and lets you use up to 24mm lenses. Thanks for the review by the way, I'm still waiting on mine.

I purchased one but after the 6 months of poor communication and issues, when I got the message saying now I've gotta pay an additional $50 to ship the item that was it for me. I wasn't gonna give any more of my money to this company. So I rang up Amex and got my full refund and bought the elgato prompter.
Crazy to hear it mostly only works 35mm+ as my main shots are 24mm and 16mm. Big big yikes
Yeah good choice doing that. I wish I would have gone with the Ulanzi version that another commenter mentioned.
I’ve just received mine, and there is a crazy amount of ghosting.
How can this pass testing?

There's definitely ghosting, but I've gotten used to it after a couple read throughs so i can't complain too much. what bothers me the most if changing my focal length and not having a lens cap.
The ghosting is horrible. Really not a fan of this thing at all.
@@NeonShores Ask them for a new one. The replacement they sent me (free of charge) does not have any ghosting.
There appear to be two Parrot Pros in circulation. Some people have been given old stock.
I also purchased after Gerald's recommendation. I don't blame him for the campaign issues. No way the delays could have been expected. But, I'm disappointed to learn the ghosting will still be an issue and it'll require a minimum width of 35mm (full frame). I often like to use my 24mm in the studio. And also, it looks like it can only hold a phone, not an iPad. So "Padcaster" seems like a misnomer. I guess I'll be keeping my Desview T3. Edit: still haven't received mine.
Hey Sky, cool to see a familiar face as I'm also in FTF! And while I knew the size would be limited to a phone, I am definitely disappointed in the focal length issues. I know a lot of creators that use less than 30mm like yourself so I think that's going to be a problem. Hope you get yours soon, and would love to hear from you what you think about it!
I am also a backer but have not received it yet. I'm glad to hear that it didn't turn out to be a terrible product so I'm more optimistic. One question I have, did Padcaster send you an e-mal to let you know the item was on the way, or did it just show up one day?

For shipment, I got an email on January 30th saying the shipment is on the way and it was delivered on February 5th. The last update we got was that there was just 200 left to go through so I hope your ships soon!

Just coming back to share that I finally received mine in the mail Tuesday. I ran into the same issue you did with my phone showing up in the actual recording if I use a 24mm focal length (Using a Canon RF 24-70mm). The only way I can avoid that is by zooming in to 30mm and above, or going from full frame to super 35 mode (using a Canon R5C). I saw another RUclipsr mention in his review that if you drop the tray as far as it will go then that should solve the issue, but it did not for me as it can only go but so far.
I can admit that I did take it apart and try to see how low I could get the tray to go, but putting my phone on it looked incredibly insane. Like you mentioned, it isn’t a dealbreaker but I will have to be mindful of the spaces where I would be recording. Once again I appreciate the review, I just wanted to come back to share my experience so far with my testing
Good video. Still waiting for mine to arrive. Been a huge disappointment in terms of the experience. I'm worried if it'll work properly with my camera.

I have the same issue with my Canon 35mm prime lens that you showed. It can't handle the weight and cannot be used with the teleprompter. That in itself would be a deal breaker for anybody who doesn't have another lens to use with this thing. Did you find a workaround for that?
I FINALLY got my shipping notification yesterday.
Ulanzi RT02 Universal Teleprompter is definitely better in built quality, size and pricing 42 usd only. Can be used with a smartphone camera, laptop camera & of course DSLR
I do wish that I went with Ulanzi, but had backed the Parrot Pro before Ulanzi released theirs :/
@@freakytechreviews That's how a lot of us feel given the way things worked out, plus the original cost and adding shipping charges of the Padcaster. It's even more annoying to know that it was made available via retailers at the same time we got ours, and what's worse is that some Kickstarter backers haven't even received theirs yet. I don't enjoy piling on, but this was a big mess. Still love Gerald Undone, though.

I'm looking at getting one, but I've got the V2 and noticed a magenta colour shift on my multicam shoots. Have you noticed any colour issues?
screen looks tiny and even with a 17mm wide frame lense I need the camera atleast 5 feet away so it doesn't look crazy zoomed in
Remote does not work with android devices. Big let down. Had to pay for nano teleprompter app and Remote software.
Just received mine and haven't been able to import scripts via dropbox. I emailed the company, but haven't heard back. Has anyone been able to import scripts?
Hmm, that's a good question. i use a different teleprompter app. Have you been able to figure it out? I would message Josh directly on Kickstarter as well if you still haven't heard anything.
I am a backer and I am totally disappointed. My old teleprompter from the same company is way better. Then new one has so much ghosting that I can't use it. Don't buy it! I will stick with the old model. Maybe will I switch to the Elgato teleprompter.
It’s unfortunate that the company had so many issues getting it out, because it kind of seems to be the only product of its kind
