I wonder if anyone stayed on Earth or on another celestial body in Sol. If so, we may find out that they became more advanced than any Celestial domain.
Well, in theory someone could surely think of a way to explore such a twist, but I don't think this is going to happen in this universe. Three main established points why I think that: 1) There are people left on Earth, but it's implied that Earth is not a viable place to live anymore, and staying there is basically a death sentence. 2) The travel is bound by speed of light, not even the Elohim were able to crack that, so any new arrivals will need a long time to get to Centauri 3) (This is from the book, but you get to know this very early, so I don't consider this a spoiler) The Arcship Diligent was one of the last arcships from Earth, and it was originally heading in the opposite direction from Centauri. When they received the Green World signal, they turned back, went around Earth again, and only then arrived to Centauri. That combined with point 2, I think any later departures from Earth would have already arrived before Diligent did.
