- This blew me away! Quantum3D offers turnkey solutions for flight simulations. I was sitting in a Cesna cockpit, could use all the controls just as if I was in the actual plane and could also see that in the VR headset. Looking out of the plane window though showed me the virtual worlds around me. Stunning!

Yes strangely this is the first instance I have seen with SLI for VR through all these years. (And if this works well could there be a standalone HMD with 2x XR2?)

There needs to be a good MR headset that is cheaper than XR3. Even the 23mpixel Vision pro seems cheap in comparison.
Yep and the definition of good varies a lot depending on who you ask. The Apple Vision Pro seems like the nearest competitor to the XR3 hardware spec wise. It's just a shame it' appears to be locked down to the Apple ecosystem for now. The other headset manufactures do have 6 months to come up with a true competitor, which is a long time in this tech space.
It’s amazing, but one of the freedoms I most enjoy about flying the VR sims is being able to jump into many different types. This is a single engined piston, that’s it. As others have implied, you can buy a load of real world Cessna flying for $50000! If I ran a flight training organisation this might be of more interest as a tool.
50.000 priced... "I honestly think for enthusiasts..." Enthusiasts are normal people who invest on high-end rigs, and that means numbers of 4 cyphers max. A 50.000 peripheral price is business oriented, not consumer. You tend to refer to enthusiast people like they had infinite money, and that's not an "enthusiast", that's a rich geek.

This tech would be amazing also for sim racing. Sim racing also has its wheels with many buttons and touch screen dash with several pages of telemetry and information.

This seems to be the future of flight training, and further down the road home simming also. The price is out of reach for home use, and I suspect there is a huge profit margin here. That's partially the cost of the R&D however, and hopefully it will be dramatically less expensive in the future.

You can do a similar thing with a steam overlay called reality mixer on the workshop with compatible headsets it won’t look nearly as good as this. And you wouldn’t be able to use open XR with a steam overlay but it only costs $3. This is obviously much more advanced mostly for professional pilot training.

Varjo's days of having this technology their own are pretty much over. High-quality pass-through cameras with lidar are coming to consumer headsets. $50K will be a fraction soon.

Looks amazing but as other people said you would have to spend a lot on cockpits. I did see Varjo do this with a racing car as well, where you could see your hands and steering wheel etc.

@@mixedrealityTV so the xr3 costs $6.5k. Even if it includes the annual subscription of $1.5k then total is $8k. Then add cost of some plastic knobs and switches over a tv screen it won’t be more than additional $1k. Then they mark up 5x to $50k! Only flight schools will pay this kind of crazy price.
