- Found a beautiful dispersed camping/boondocking camping spot way up on Poteau Mountain in the Western Part of Arkansas. At 2100 feet, the weather was a perfect 70's during the day and lows of 50's at night. I hiked the Belle Starr Cave and Falls trail up on the mountain where the caves/falls were located down in the bottom of the valley. Fairly easy hike down, but strenuous hiking back up. A little help for whatever you may need. Thanks for always sharing your locations and a little overview of whats exciting in that area.
Thanks 👍This will help out a lot! Much Appreciated!
Like that! Belle Star might have been a scrappy little gal! Fun to think about.
I agree. I do believe she was a little scrappy back in the day. LOL
Like number 388. Beautiful place. We have some beautiful places to camp here in Arkansas 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🇺🇸
That we do!
👍👍👍👍👍, I named a 100lb stray dog that found me Belle after the outlaw, she was with me for almost 13 yrs. Interesting vlog, thanks Mark!
Thanks Narley!
That caves looks more like a place to hide a moonshine still. In the 1930’s and 40’s my folks were bootlegs an moonshiner just across the state law from your location in Oklahoma. Beautiful country in the Quachita National Forest on both side of the state line. Interesting historical about the Bell Star cave and falls. Thanks for sharing, very entertaining.
Thanks Tom! Definitely lots of history on Poteau.
Thanks!
Much appreciated! Thank You!
Figure I've asked enough questions and gotten enough advice on my camping setup to help a bit.
You've helped out quit a bit. Thanks again!
Wow.... I get to be the first one to comment. Great video as always!!!
Yes you are! And you're the first I replied to... Thanks for watching!
If I'm not mistaken, Belle Starr was a character in an old great western called "The Long Riders" in which she was a hooker that had an going relationship with Cole Younger when he rode with the James gang. It was a fantastic movie but I'm sure there was more to her life if they named a cave after her. I'll have to look that up, thanks for the tour.
Thanks Steve! There were several movies out about her when she became an outlaw. She did get around for sure!
Hey Mark. I spent this past week in the Ouachita NF. After seeing some of your videos, I stayed at Blaylock Creek on the 16th and 17th and then on the 18th and 19th I stayed just north of Albert Pike Rec area on FS73. Couldn't find the exact location in the video, but found an awesome camp area a little ways further north on the left on 73 (34 23.587, 93 52.567). No cell service. Did have to pick up a little trash left by others. Not far from the hiking trail going to Little Missouri Falls along the river. Some parts of the trail are not super clear, so without a gps, you can veer off the path quite easily, but the falls were awesome and worth the hike.
Hey Thanks for making these videos and sharing your experiences and camp areas. Much appreciated!
A couple of years after making the Blaylock Creek video, a tornado went right through that camping spot and downed a lot of trees. It's still there, but not accessible by vehicles. That spot was a great spot to camp to. There are lots of camping spots to choose from in that area. Thanks for the feedback.
Jan in Ark. No bugs!
I was just at the Belle Star birth house in Carthage MO in late Nov. Person outside there moved it and lives in it now
Yes! No bugs! I loved it. Lol
Good to see you
Many safe travels!
Thanks a lot JD! Much appreciated!
What an awesome area and cool history. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Doug!
Great video. And very nice soundtrack music. I'm collecting your camping sites for when I go back to Arkansas.
Awesome, thank you! In the videos description I have a google map link that shows all my spots. Click on a spot and it’ll show you the video of that spot.
Hi Mark. You were only about 2 miles from my house.
Nice. We were neighbors.
Good stuff! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Love your videos. But i havnt seen a campfire or cooking yet😂
Sometimes I do.
Nice to hear the history of the area.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Wes 🤝

Great video
The cave was cool.
I liked it. But the 2.5 mile hike out was very tiring. I slept good that night. 😂
@@DispersedCamperMan I’m disabled so I wouldn’t be able to do the hike, but you sure do find beautiful places to camp. I have a Honda Pilot I believe I would have no problem getting to the camp site. Thanks for sharing the info. 🙂

Right before you head up the Mt. Coming from hartford there is a trail head. West Right across the road is my brother's property.
My cousin Wayne use to own that property before he sold it. Small world.
Yes it is.
When my wife and I head out to Colorado next year (provided she won't be stubborn and will retire) we're going to plan a route that will take us through Arkansas. The Ozarks have long been on our bucket list.
The Ozarks are definitely a great place to explore!
Thanks for the tour and info. Been a long, long time since I was up there, but that was in the fall and the colors were magnificent. Hope to see you one day when out adventuring in the boonies. Keep up the good work in informing the wanderlust community of the wonders of The Natural State.
Glad you enjoyed it! I like exploring that area of the Ouachita National Forest. Beautiful country!
2 1/2 miles is just about right. From Highway 378 to Poteau Mountain Road is about 5 1/2 miles. And the cave is roughly 3 miles from 378. Used to ride from our house to the mountain just about every weekend. Leah and I were there just a few weeks ago. Even made a few videos. It is slick, for sure. Nice video Mark.
Thanks Tracy! I enjoy Poteau Mountain. Several great camping spots up there.
Belle Starr was in Dallas for awhile! Enjoyed her history in the cave and the camping spot looks cool. Another great video. Thanks!
Thanks Angie!
I’ve been by that wooden X many times never knew that cave was down there.
Great video brother!!
Thanks 👍It's a very strenuous trail. Especially coming back out. LOL
My family is from that area .
Any relations to Belle Starr?
I like the camera on front of truck. do you have a link? does it only work when you have internet access? nice video.
It mainly works with internet which it saves to the cloud. Or you can have no internet, and it'll save to the internal memory. No internet, no alerts. Here's my affiliate link, it's also in any of my video descriptions. amzn.to/3K6IBBV
Pretty neat cave. When I get to Arkansas I’ll definitely look up those places 👍🏼
It's a pretty neat area for sure!
Great job as usual. We are hoping to get down in Arkansas this spring.
You should!
Love it. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thanks for watching!
Thanks again for sharing 👊🤙
No problem 👍
Did you notice if an old skillet was still by the cave? It's been there for several years that I know of.
The old skillet was definitely still there. Someone placed it on a small stump.
Hello Marcus love your videos keep them coming can you send me the info on the camera system you put on your truck I would like to get it for myself Thanks Fernando
Thanks! The link is my Amazon Associate Link below. I really like these cameras, the battery lasts for several months before I need to recharge them. amzn.to/3Da5Tnx
I think I've heard of some old nickel mine in the area. Something to check in to.
Yes.
👍✌️
for that honda africa twin😉
I would love to have an African Twin! Thanks! Much appreciated!
Do you need any special permits to camp there?? I get lost easy so I appreciate your directions. ☮️
No permit required. It’s free camping. If you do go, go in from Hartford side of the mountain. The road gets really rough coming in from Waldron side.
@@DispersedCamperMan I thank and the Goldie Pearl thanks you.😁☮️🏕
Not going to Arizona this winter?
No. Headed to Utah, in March.
How well does it work carrying the motorcycle on the front? I’m thinking of doing this.I have an F350 so I can do it but I was curious as to your headlights and stuff being blocked.
My headlights were blocked, meaning no driving at night. I stopped carrying my motorcycle up front. I noticed my engine wasn't getting sufficient air flow and was increasing my oil and coolant temps by 15+ degrees.
@@DispersedCamperMan OK, I was wondering about all that thank you
