wow - almost right off the bat you point out a small but massive rule that should make games less cumbersome - as stated on p55 formed close order units can pass through friends WITHOUT PENALTY - provided they have enough movement to clear the unit and if they are beyond volley range of the enemy. While some players may argue this is non-historic, I prefer to see this as a recognition that real units on fields miles wide would have far more space than our comparatively cramped game tables - a good change and thanks for flagging this.
I am really enjoying watching your videos particularly the Grande Armee 2 which I have just received. I have to admit to a certain amount of jealousy over your table and figures. Since downsizing I only have room for a 5' 6" by 4' table and have dropped to 15mm scale. I am currently finishing off an O Group British Airborne force whilst planning an Austrian Napoleonic army. Keep up the good work , I know several wargamers who get bogged down with rulebooks but pick a game up quickly by watching videos on the gameplay. We all have our own way of learning and it is a bonus to have such a coherent format and a treat for the eyes.
Great video. You explain everything without getting bogged down in unnecessary discussion. I just wish this video was available yesterday. I placed an order with Battlefield Accessories. It would have been nice to get the free tokens. Ce la Vie!
I am really enjoying your tutorial videos. I’ll be running a game of GdA2 up at the club next week. I was able to play test an earlier version and was very pleased with the changes - these really are my goto Napoleonic rules
🤔In the course of my gaming and producing the GdA2 Bootcamp I’ve been harassing DCRB with all manner of rules questions and clarifications. 🫣 🤓I’ll consolidate and share them in due course. I’ve also made a couple of really basic errors in playing that I can only put down to the fact I’ve been playing solo and therefore have not had the benefit of the ‘independent check’ to pick me up😔. For example, having multiple units within a single brigade gaining the ‘skirmisher tasking’ bonus when it only applies to ONE unit. 🤦♂️ As I’ve stated: “it’s incumbent on the player to read their rules thoroughly” 🤓😃 Anyway,.. once I’ve consolidated these Q and As into a single document I’ll share. Maybe it could be the basis of a FAQ going forward? 😆
Hi Scott, when you gave you Brigade Skirmish Tasking only one unit in the Brigade gets the extra dice mate. And as such only one target can ever get a DT from a double 6. Otherwise the Tasking is overwhelming. Cheers. Nick

Great idea Scott. I’m the same with DB on this side of the planet. 😂😂. Have played several games with DB as part of the playtesting and have to say there have been some very ‘robust’ conversations along the way. But, the outcome is a brilliant game.
@@CorvusLudos I base my infantry 6 figures in two ranks on a 45mm wide and 40mm deep base with 4 bases to a standard unit. I also use 40mm square bases with 4 figures in 2 ranks with 6 bases to a standard unit. Cavalry are 2 models on a 50mm square or 3 on a 60mm wide by 50mm deep base, with 6 or 4 bases to a unit. Artillery are usually 1 cannon and 4 crew an a 50mm wide base and 100mm deep. Basing doesn’t need to be consistent with GdA which is great imho. ‘Close enough’ is good enough. After all, no battalion ever had the exact same footprint on the battlefield.
Great as usual Scott. This is probably the first of many questions. The Allied Cavalry you mention need a Redeploy order because they are on Defend. Is this purely scenario related?
Sorta. The scenario has the second line on ‘HOLD’ orders. A GdB rule mechanism. I’ve altered the scenario to reflect my understanding of the actual battle.
@@CheckYourLeaderTV could be worth telling us about the Attack/Defend orders as this quite a change. I got a little confused when you said it could not move. Now I understand.
I posed the same question to DCRB as follows : “Hi David (again). I’m slightly confused on how Bold Brigs roll to activate. My understanding is as follows: 1) if using 0-1 taskings they roll 2 D6 and chose the higher (which to me is the same as having a re-roll). If they have 2 or more Bde taskings they simply roll 1 D6 (no reroll) and thus would need a Brigade Attachment. (Foreshadowing here: this was apparently the correct answer) OR. 2) if using 0-1 Taskings they roll 2 D6 and chose the higher, and if both are 1 or 2 THEN get a reroll but If they have 2 or more Bde taskings they simply roll 1 D6 and if they score a 1-2 THEN get a reroll”. Response: “It’s the first one”. Simply put (as I understand it) : if the Bold brigadier is going through simple brigade manoeuvres or attempting one brigade task he gets a reroll (because he’s switched on) but if he’s doing something more complex then he’ll need some addition ‘command and control’ assistance from Div HQ.
Yes,.. that’s correct; almost. Some brigades only get 3 or 4 ADCs and some get 6. And yes, I did ‘mentally reset’ to GdA1 😆 That said,.. the French only had 4 Brigades on table therefore only get 5 ADC. The Allies with 7 Brigades on table across two small divisions with the Prussian Div having 3 Brigades (so 4 there) and the Russians having 4 Brigades (so another 4 there). But if I run the allies as a ‘Combined Division’ (which is essentially what I’m doing here) we get 7 Brigades so 6 ADC.

There's a lot of work that goes into making videos like this - Just wanted to say a huge thanks for taking the time to put these together.
What a beautiful set up terrain and miniatures! Great rule’s explanation

If it’s not been posted yet and you email them I’m confident they’ll include the Deployment Markets

Good pickup. Thank for that. Funny story, I just noticed that mistake about 5 mins before seeing your comment

Regarding Bold Brigadiers as I read it if they have zero or one tasking they get to roll 2 command dice AND get a reroll as well ??
Its roll 2D6 and take the best one.

Really enjoying this series for GDA 2. Does that offer for the markers from battlefield accessories apply to UK buyers as well?
Yes
