In fairness, while the HMS Tiger's AA suite is a grand total of 6 76mm guns in three double mounts, these are post-WW2 fully automatic, radar-guided 76mm guns firing HE-VT shells at 70 RPM per barrel. And four dual-purpose 6" guns slinging HE-VT as well at between 15 and 20 rounds per minute is nothing to sneeze at either. Or, well. it *shouldn't* be anything to sneeze at. Not that wargaming, y'know, bothers to model AA accurately at all or anything. Or else the Tiger(and the worcester, des moines, salem, etc) would be no-fly zones on account of being absolutely bristling with fully automatic 3" and 6" guns firing HE-VT. But we couldn't have that, could we? I mean look at 4:33. As the Tiger fires at the incoming aircraft, it looks like its firing with a flurry of light autocannon fire. Despite the HMS Tiger literally not having any light AA. Where are those machinegun tracers even coming from, wargaming? Are the crew coming up from below deck with their .50 cals and vickers guns and manning the railings?
honestly, AA feels so RNG for me, that it's not even worth focusing on, as far as which ship I take out to enjoy. I've had friends who've played CVs and constantly complain about getting their planes wrecked before doing anything and I've had games where I've seen a CV still get off 2 attacks while flying in the middle of 5 AA bubbles. ...hell I still remember one of the first Random battle games, right after the CV rework, where I was in a Tirpitz, never alone. and got killed in 3 waves by an enemy Kaga. doing fuck all in terms of damage.
I was pounding on a CV late in a match yesterday and noted the same. I'm landing HE on the flight deck and planes are taking off. Given splash damage, how is this not affecting planes?
Sorry Jingles. The tiger class were built on derivatives of the Fiji hulls that had construction stopped at war end about 60% complete. And then retrofitted with the new turrets and rebuilt to accomodate new technology. They should have been in service early/mid 50s but funding issues and delays with getting the turrets workable meant they entered service about 10 years late.
And the Minotaur class would have been built on derivates of Fiji hulls that had construction stopped at war end. So like I said - originally supposed to be Minotaurs.

Actually Jingles, the Irperanga has the British 152mm (5.9 inch) or 6 inch guns. The tier 9 and 10 get the 234mm secondary guns. Although, Iperangas 152s get insanely higher Penetration (38mm) then the 152s on ships like St Vincent and Nelson that only has 26mms of Penetration.
The Tiger-class weren't built on Minotaur hulls. Or at least, not the Minotaur we know in World of Warships. That's where it gets confusing. There are 3 different cruiser classes that all had "Minotaur" as the lead ship. There was the Minotaur class of 1906 (3 armoured cruisers), the Minotaur class of 1943 (a modified Fiji design with the X turret removed and significantly more AA armament), and the Minotaur class of 1947 (the tier 10 CL we all know and love, but which was cancelled because of the end of WW2). Why did they reuse the name Minotaur so soon? Because the 1943 Minotaur was given to Canada while still under construction and renamed HMCS Ontario (and arrived in the Pacific too late to see any fighting). So the name had been freed up, so the Royal Navy decided to use it again. HMS Swiftsure became the new lead ship of the 1943 Minotaur class. While the 1947 Minotaur class was cancelled before any construction work began, there were 5 ships of the Swiftsure/1943 Minotaur class still under construction at the end of WW2. 2 of them were still on the slipways and were simply cancelled and scrapped. But the other 3 had already been launched, and (after more than decade of trying to decide what to do with them) were completed as the Tiger class. Because while the 1947 Minotaur was never built, some turrets intended for her *were* built, and you could fit two of those turrets onto a Swiftsure/Tiger hull. (Honestly I'm pretty sure that if the budget and political will had been there, you could've fit 3 of the Minotaur turrets onto a Tiger hull.)
I really don't know what the Admiralty was doing with their counting at the time. The Mk26 six inch was supposed to be backfitted to Switfsure and good ole Belfast. Studies showed that they could carry three of them without excessive topweight. But there was no place to put the 3"in twin mounts- both cruisers had been built with 4in DPs mounts that had no deck penetration and so there were things like galleys and crew accommodations under them. Which meant for a much larger reconstruction of the hull, OR put the 3" guns in B and X positions and just have two 3in and two 6in. But this was vetoed for two little armament and also somehow acquiring more 3"50cal guns from the USN like already on HMS Victorious was also vetoed. So no updates for those two cruisers, which went against "the Plan" to provide one cruiser as 'goalkeeper' for each of the 5 remaining RN CVs. But then after cancelling Swiftsure and Belfasts updates for leaving too few guns- they built the Lion, Tiger, and Blake with just two 6in mounts each anyway. Their only advantage was, since their superstructure was incomplete, they found room for one more 3" 70 than the older cruisers would have had.

My dad served on the tiger through the 70s to early 80s! He was a medic in one of the tiger's helicopters! The ship would've been even worse in that configuration lol, since they chopped the rear turret off in order to fit a big boxy hanger like structure on the back. I wanted to follow in his footsteps but it turns out i am 16 different flavours of colourblind and broken, so my medical report read more like a casualty report and now I'm a paramedic in civvie street instead :P
Speaking of cruisers, there is a new German cruiser that just got released into the game. It is called the Hildebrand, and it is based on the O-Class cruisers. However, it is a hybrid cruiser as it can use two squadrons. One is a 3-plane torpedo squadron, and the other is a HE dive bomber squadron with 6 planes.
That was a hell of a ride! Well done! Would be a great meme - bit similar to the TOG in WoT - if people jinxed it and started doing rather well in Hms.Tiger.

Luckily for the Tiger, the Independence is a type of aircraft carrier that does not get secondary guns. If it had those, the Tiger wouldn't have survived...
Nice work juking most of those torpedos and airstrikes, It is manuverable but not fast enough to run from trouble, so he stayed in the fight and made it work.
The last time we all saw an AA Expert award was that USS Missouri replay 8 or so months back. To get that award with possibly the worst ship in the game, you need to be absolutely mental. Of course, it does help when Wargaming's matchmaking system works it out for you.
What did most ship officers think about maneuvrability ? I want ALL OF IT ! Which says a bit of why the french large anti-torpedoboats destroyers were 'bad' - not maneuvrable enough to hold station on a battleship or battle-cruiser and being even worse than them !
WP ImEarly. I never had a Tiger 59 in my port. So I can't give it a rank position. However, my rankings for WoWS worst premium ships are: 1)Gorizia - Italian special premium Tier VII cruiser, 2)Krasny Krym - Soviet special premium Tier V cruiser, 3)Collingwood - British special premium Tier VII battleship, 4)Leone - Italian special premium Tier VI destroyer, 5)Viribus Unitis - European special premium Tier V battleship. I suspect that WG will give the Tiger '59 ship out in the next Christmas give away.
If in any other carrier, the CV would have won. On the Independence the rockets and divebombers are unlimited consumables, which is why he lobbed torp bombers constantly as they are the only planes that cycle.
He played really well. I can guarantee that if I had been in the same situation in my Atago, I probably would have died when facing the multiple BBs and CVs.
17:00 Most likely, the Harekaze player forgot that Tiger '59 has radar. As soon as ImEarly got detected, he popped his radar. Tiger '59 has 9.2km surface detection and 9km radar range.
We do get to keep it, but there is a strong possibilty that WG will nerf the line as they appear a bit OP, especially the T10 (plus the special Captain from the "battle mosaic"), from what I've been told. I don't have the T9 & T10 as I have better things to do with the money than line WG pockets and I will get them eventually when they become standard tech tree ships.
If any ship in the game needs a buff the HMS Tiger is it. Faster reload, hydro and better AA just to start or just drop it a couple of tiers. I couldn't imagine being in that thing in a T10 battle, it doesn't even have torps.
@@wierdalien1 In context of the statement actually made, it could be so much worse than his sense of caution or overall sensibility. That said, an amazing result with crap equipment...
I haven't checked, but doesn't the Ipiranga have 15" main guns and 6" secondaries? It's tier 9 that you get the 234mm turrets. Also, something I've noticed recently is that british short fuse AP is incredible at knocking out secondary turrets. Even in this video with the Tiger's pathetic DPM, the few shels he lands on the Ipiranga secondary turrets knocks them out in one hit. I think it might be too good against secondaries on the proper light cruisers like the minotaur. In 30s of shooting at Schlieffens or Preussens, I often knock out 6+ turrets in my Minotaur.
Sometimes I'll break out the Tiger just to see if I can have a god game. I had one game with 18 citadels..... with most of those on a broadside Moskva. Yes, I was sunk shortly thereafter. 🙂
The mainz here.. i remember this round to be particular painful.. The tiiger sat broadside the whole game and BBs completely failed to achieve anything... and ofcourse i only got overpens/ short landing shells on the tiger when i reall should have deleted it o.o
It's World of Naval Aviation, nobody is surprised anymore, WG is just working hard to get into the Guinness Book of World Records with the largest amount of uninstalls in a given amount of time.
That was an incredible sailing for just about anybody much less the Tiger 59. And he is not a witch since we would not use witchcraft to cheat on a game.
The only good thing the Tiger 59 has going for it is that it's so small, with such a low HP pool that a distracted DD captain might mistake it for a DD and open up on it.
Sailing headlong into a crossfire in the middle of the map means instant deletion when I do it. And this guy gets a Kraken. Sure, that's fine, makes sense.
When he clearly, didn't give himself enough of a handicap, for his next trick, send him in a custom battle, in a t6 ship, any of his choice, against t9s. Maybe then, the other players would stand a chance. :D Such a comprehensive schooling...
The problem with the tiger is it’s a dedicated support ship in a game where every ship needs to be largely self-sufficient. It’s just not designed for WOWS’ brand of gameplay.
To watch Mighty Jingles talk about how bad this ship is, and then get an epic result such as this just gives me the giggles. Yes its a terrible ship, but even terrible ships can have a good outcome.
It would've been (somewhat) fine to have historic ships that have terrible but technically accurate performance if WG would apply the same logic to every ship that they make (including their paper ships).

Contrary to Los Andes and Libertad, Ipiranga only has 6' secondaries (152mm) as well as lower caliber (127 mm If I'm not mistaken)
"The Harukaze kinda forgot about the Tiger." Reminds of Games of Thrones.
That was a hell of a ride! Well done! Would be a great meme - bit similar to the TOG in WoT - if people jinxed it and started doing rather well in Hms.Tiger.
7:30 - 7:40
That looks almost exactly like my replays. Only that i die about 3 seconds later when i am this panicked and have the entire enemy team shooting at me.
The graphics on Boosteroid for World of Tanks are simply breathtaking.
I was in the RAN for 10 years and served on the river class destroys or destroyer escorts as they were known , Brit design. DE 48 and 49 HMAS Stuart and Derwent , we had one turret which had the old hand loaded 4.5 inch Gun lol and a Seacat Missile system on the arse end, no helo.
tbh that dance around 5mins deserved some music.
Best Tiger '59 game I've seen! Congrats! I must say it is even more remarkable taking into account how bad 1/2 his team was! He carried this (with a couple good team mates) in spite of being in the Tiger '59! :) That W Virginia should take up cargo ships.
Luckily for the Tiger, the Independence is a type of aircraft carrier that does not get secondary guns. If it had those, the Tiger wouldn't have survived...
Anybody notice the name of his division mate? "ImLate." So the enemy team had to choose to shoot at "imEarly" or "ImLate". Love it!
So what I'm hearing is the Coms Yeoman on HMS Brazen was Jingles's ship's version of Phoebe from the Magic Schoolbus.
His AA guns did more damage than his actual guns.
😂
Nice work juking most of those torpedos and airstrikes, It is manuverable but not fast enough to run from trouble, so he stayed in the fight and made it work.
My Father had the misfortune to serve on both the Tiger AND the Blake....talk about good luck lol
I remember seeing Tiger and Blake up the trots in Pompey in the 80’s, really strange looking ships with a big ugly box near the blunt end
The last time we all saw an AA Expert award was that USS Missouri replay 8 or so months back. To get that award with possibly the worst ship in the game, you need to be absolutely mental. Of course, it does help when Wargaming's matchmaking system works it out for you.
Your personal story is the icing on the cake for this video!
Those fingers in my hair
That sly come hither stare
That strips my conscience bare
It's witchcraft
I would love to see a Tiger 59 review just to hear Jingles do a history lesson!❤
They should give Tiger the Seacat launchers it gained during it's conversion, I'm also surprised that anti ship missile aircraft are not in the game
I'm Early, I'm Late.
Fun division
In the army, it was " in my day we had the SLR " as the starting line for a dit 😂
Jingles do we get to keep the IPIRANGA after it gets out of early access because I really like it and it looks like the hood a little bit
You have to show an imense amount of respect for everybody who queues up in a Tiger 59 in that game. It takes some balls to do that.
If any ship in the game needs a buff the HMS Tiger is it. Faster reload, hydro and better AA just to start or just drop it a couple of tiers. I couldn't imagine being in that thing in a T10 battle, it doesn't even have torps.
this is im early, my wife says that to me sometime... just not quite the same tone... or words
That you aren't sensible or cautious?
@@wierdalien1 In context of the statement actually made, it could be so much worse than his sense of caution or overall sensibility. That said, an amazing result with crap equipment...
Thank you 😊
I believe that My Uncle served on HMS Tiger in the 60's, Sadly I have no more info on this.
It was a hard sale, but you’ve sold me on getting them Tiger 59 Jingles. As a light cruiser main, this looks like my jam.
Would rather have the London than the Tiger '59. At least the London has 8x8in guns, HE shells and torpedoes! 🙂
6:47 Babe wake up new jingles lore just dropped
Hi Jingles, please feature the Daniel Russev Yoshino game, it was a very fun game that would benefit from your commentary, please.
Tiger 59 have 15.6km. And remember. Atago a WWII Heavy Cruiser, have 15.8km gun range and they considered as poor gun range.
"He's a witch!" Obvious since he's still floating...
that "Freezing" bug doesn't happen only in replays, it happens me every now and then during the game.
Woke my housemate up laughing when you mentioned having to remove one of the only 2 gun turrets to fit the helicopter deck
Sailing headlong into a crossfire in the middle of the map means instant deletion when I do it. And this guy gets a Kraken. Sure, that's fine, makes sense.
Great vid Jingles. You're a joy.
I had a Tier X game the other day that the enemy team had 3 "CV's". A CV, a Delaware, and a Kearsage, and of course 2 subs....lol.
He seems to be on the same team I get stuck on every match. They all go to one cap and stay there till 900 enemy points.
When he clearly, didn't give himself enough of a handicap, for his next trick, send him in a custom battle, in a t6 ship, any of his choice, against t9s. Maybe then, the other players would stand a chance. :D Such a comprehensive schooling...
Boosteroid's zero lag experience makes World of Tanks even more enjoyable.
The problem with the tiger is it’s a dedicated support ship in a game where every ship needs to be largely self-sufficient. It’s just not designed for WOWS’ brand of gameplay.
The tiger 59 looks very interesting to play. I might actually buy it because people say it's just bad.
Impressive, now lets see a Hipper replay.
I see that Pink Floyd reference at the end there, Jingles ;)
I think if they added 10km torps and buffed the reload, this could be a decent ship with that consumable loadout.
NGL, I enjoy playing the Tiger ‘59. It is fun…and hilarious when you get deleted with a single salvo.
i love how his divmate was named "ImLate"
Well, you might not be able to polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter
Excellent video, thanks!
To watch Mighty Jingles talk about how bad this ship is, and then get an epic result such as this just gives me the giggles. Yes its a terrible ship, but even terrible ships can have a good outcome.
Its all about the challenge
What they could do with this ship is give it a spotter plane (Helicopter) consumable that lasts the length of the game...
It would've been (somewhat) fine to have historic ships that have terrible but technically accurate performance if WG would apply the same logic to every ship that they make (including their paper ships).
The Ipiranga does not have 234mm secondaries. Only standard 127mm and 152mm.
I used to have a plastic model of this ship. Matchbox, 1/700th scale. PURPLE plastic, Jingles... PURPLE. It was the suckiest plastic model too....
Please let one of the bugs be missing gun sound and Jingles has to do them himself. (WoT video reference)
