      Small coils used in circuits of the laptop can rattle at a very very high frequency, creating a buzzing, whining noise known as coil whine. It happens in many Dell laptops also.

      No, the XPS13/15 are notorious for coil whine. The Spectre don't have any major widespread whine issues in the laptops. The charger tends to whine though.

    I just bought this laptop and its is great except for two things: A- You will ONLY get about 5 to 6 hrs MAX battery time and that is just browsing the net and watching RUclips and B- The laptop runs super hot even with the power mode reduced to the lowest setting and screen brightness at 50% the fans will run constantly thus eating your batteries fast an almost perfect laptop. Jut just because of the heating issue and poor battery life I am leaning towards returning it to BestBuy

    I have one of these and I can give my unbiased review. The audio is super buggy, it will mute, unmute or just be plain distorted frequently which can get annoying. I have also gotten a few BSoD right out of the box even after installing all of HP's updates. The screen also has a really bad grey to grey transition time and when switching from a black screen to a white screen I actually can visibly see the screen getting brighter slowly. Aside from audio and video it's pretty good, feels quick and snappy. Windows hello works about 70% of the time which is fair. All in all it is a decent computer but they shouldn't have audio problems and crashing at a $2000 price point

    Now I am seeing that people are trashing Austin and HP Spectre x360 over this ad, I feel nothing but compelled to write this piece.
    I ordered this computer the day they released it on their website for pre-order. I maxed out all the specs, and I absolutely love this computer. It is literally way better than my old macbook air and is super fast ( though I really miss macOS, but it is fine, the trade-off is worth it). I started taking notes on this computer, for my college classes. One thing, I can tell y'all though. HP has built a great computer but has limited the capabilities of this computer.
    Starting with the TRACKPAD, if you get this computer, you have to upgrade your drivers to the windows precision trackpad drivers, since the trackpad is so good in hardware-wise, that it runs, windows precision trackpad drivers, through a small trick. Just google the thing, it is very easy to do it. There are many ppl who has guides on it.
    Also, the HP pen is not THAT good, really, the display they built is spectacular. I have the 1080p model, since 4K is just waste of money. You don't really see the difference on a display this small, and you lose bunch of battery life. GET SURFACE PEN, if you are gonna get this computer and will take notes on it. They both use the same technology, (N-Trig), so the screen supports surface pen. Surface pen is way way better than HP pen, ( well, HP pen is comes free with the purchase of the computer, so it is understandable).
    The keyboard, takes a lot of time to get used to as Austin said, but really!!, when you get used to the keyboard, you start typing up really fast. m
    I use my laptop all day for all purposes, tablet and computer, and I don't get 16 hours unfortunately. I easily get 9 hours on 75% brightness, and I can push 10 hours with it, the best you can get is though, 11 hours ( I open bluetooth and all the other very important connectivity stuff open all the time though, you can get better battery life depending on your usage.)
    Thanks for the great video Austin, I agree with almost all the things you have said in the video.

      Not really thin compared to MacBooks. And MacBooks can edit, render and playback 8K Video with an m3 processor.

      MacBooks are way overpriced for the specs you actually get from them. You can easily get a more powerful computer for $500 than a MacBook, the only thing you won't get is the metal chassis and next to zero ports. BOOM in your face Apple.
      If I wanted fewer ports, I wouldn't pay $2,400 for points of connectivity.

    That i7 is pretty powerful but you should run AIDA64 just to see how badly it will throttle. Such a punch comes with a lot of heat, and a 15W TDP means it HAS to throttle

    Includes paid promotion. I'm out. Watch time: 13 seconds. It's not because Austin doesn't deserve money, he does... it's because you'll never get a biased review or look when it's paid for by the damn company.

    • @TechnoBabble
      @TechnoBabble 6 лет назад

      That is absolutely not the case. Get over yourself, content creators need to make money and just because a company wants to pay them to have a review done DOES NOT mean the review is biased in any way. In fact that's actually illegal.

    • @bradchervel5202

      TechnoBabble That is absolutely wrong. Companies buy opinions all the time...it's called sales people. Austin just became one. That's why it says paid promotion because he is repeating their words not his.

      Synplexi He didn't mention the poor battery life as a big downside, he didn't mention how expensive it is for the price, he did not mention how bad and unreliable the trackpad is, he did not mention it thermal throttles and he did not mention the good one cost more than a Razer blade that is more powerful and more reliable.

    • @walterchao993
      @walterchao993 6 лет назад

      The battery life last for 8-10 hours for me. Yes, it's expensive but for a laptop, but it's thin and can play moderate games like pubg, cs go, overwatch, and etc at over 60 frames. It rarely overheats, only if you start rendering 4k videos or game for a long time. Also, the track pad works like a miracle for me.

    I currently own the 2014 Model of the HP Spectre x360. I can say it's a great laptop, long battery life, and easily powerful enough to do most things, apart from maybe play games on it (Which I don't do, I have a Desktop for that, I have been playing Kerbal Space Program which seems to handle well enough however). I've only had one issue with it, the hinge. About a year ago I closed the laptop for the night, opened it the next day and there was a crack running right from the hinge to the top of the screen. I'm not sure if the newer models of the Spectre have a similar issue, but it looks very similar to the current one I have. At the end of the year I will be repairing the screen so I can use the touchscreen again, but it's been very frustrating to have it broken when I didn't drop it or forcefully close it.
    Bottom line this is a very good laptop, I am however not sure about the hinge. If anyone has any other questions about the laptop, feel free to comment and I'll be happy to answer them.

    I have the Spectre x360 ac050ca and it's legitimately a great laptop, I don't regret buying it for what I use it for (4k Editing, Web and Even 3d less challenging games like CSGO and GMOD). Any problems I've had with it sofar have been very minuscule and not really a big ground to complain. Take it from a person who isn't sponsored.
    Leave me questions if you really want to know about this laptop and I can respond later.

    If you think using the 13 inch version as a tablet is kind of awkward, try using the 17 inch I bought last year. It's an amazing laptop, but super awkward to use as a tablet. Also, it doesn't have a fingerprint sensor built in to the power button which is a shame.

    I'll say this as someone who has built and deployed a few of these. I really dig this iteration of the Spectre. The 8th gen chipset really helps where as last years models seemed to chug at times. I multi-tasked and ran some rendering software (Rhino) with it holding up pretty well. Now if you plan on using this for gaming then this will not get the job done. I just ordered me a model for personal and work use. Kind of bummed it only comes with 1 USB A port but it comes with the territory if you want something light and with a small form factor.

    The "new" 8th gen 'u' class chips are nowhere near the same performance level of the 45 watt 'hq' chips. The only reason Geekbench was showing close scores was because it's a short test. In longer tests the 15 watt chips will not hold their boost clock and will still score significantly worse than 45 watt ones. Intel isn't magic, they can't just make the 8250u or 8550u as fast as the 7700hq while consuming 1/3 the amount of power, especially considering they're running the same architecture.

    Just bought the Spectre x360 last week - except I bought it with the 7th gen chip and it only cost me $1000. People using an ultrabook rarely need the processing power of the 8th gen, and it knocks a colossal amount off the price.
    I'm loving mine, so far!
    (Also, before someone says $1000 is expensive...laptops in Australia really are pretty pricey and I needed to buy it quickly, so online wasn't an option :( )
