Very happy to see a new update. After a long time, I was worried that the project was discontinued. Thank you very much for all the time and effort you put into this, it is a great project in home assistant!
@@pot288 nice to hear! Yeah it took a lot longer than we planned in the beginning. Hopefully we can start adding new features at a faster pace from now on... 😊
Nice update! Keep up the good work! I still have mine 'unused' because I still miss the option to adjust room temperatures and turn on/off power outlets. While I can turn on a Shelly Relay outlet, the icon is still a light => easy solution is to be able to change icons. (I think)
Thank you! Sooon you will be able to control more than lights. It took a lot longer for us to get here but we've started making the roadmap for next release and support for switches is the first thing on the list. So stay tuned and you should be able to get those panels to use. 😊
I'm renovating my house right now, I was looking for a solution for the switches, and this video convinced me to go full NSpanel, I love you, but you're making me broke!
Pluses and minuses to going this route. I'm not sure I'd recommend going full NS Panel. Things break. Most people who go full smart home, recommend going with a physical switch for the majority of the time. Using things like NS Panels as "control panels" or for controlling lights that can't be controlled by a "switch". IE:wifi light bulbs that are grouped, smart outlets that control a dumb lamp, etc. Otherwise, wifi goes down, you can't control your house. With smart switches, wifi goes down, they still work like dumb switches, just the smart outlets (without hitting the button on the device), wifi light bulbs, etc stop working. I'm not trying to say don't utilize this great product, but keep in mind the pros/cons of going with the setup you are considering going full panel control. I'm using Android Tablets as my Smart Home Control Panels, my NS Panels will be a thermostat control and light control for my back yard (Pool Lights, Patio Lights, Cafe Lights, etc) that aren't able to be controlled by a normal switch. Eventually I'll probably convert that NS Panel to a Home Assistant dashboard so I can also control my Pool Alarm.
Thanks for the video will have to look at getting some of these. BTW in openHAB you can get this added to the openhabian project so that it can be auto installed like the HA addons. Secondly you can add an icon to the "other apps" quick launcher the same way that frontail and graphana can be opened when installed by openhabian. /etc/openhab/services/runtime.cfg and /etc/openhab/services/dashboard.cfg are the files to add stuff into other apps launcher.
Hmm interesting thought, I wounder if it is possible in an easy way though? Are you thinking like a binding in the add-on store or as a optional component available to install in the openhabian-config tool (zigbee2mqtt exists in the openhabian-config tool for example)? It would be nice to be able to add NSPanelmanager when you install Openhab but since this project is a Docker solution I'm thinking maybe it is not that easy. The user would have to install Docker first and that is not in the list of optional components currently when you install Openhab. Or do you have any other thoughts or suggestions? About the other apps I didn't know that existed actually, found the button after searching around a bit. That's a good thing to know, thanks for that! :)
Oh yes that is true! Thanks for pointing that out. So if running as container installation you cannot use the add-ons is that correct? I will change the time line headline to something else than just "openhab installation".
Great information. May be you can a video where you can utilise old phones as smart display per room. Ie kitchen , living room can just have a old smart phone attached to a wall and only shows devices in that particular room. Now a day can buy cheap second hand phone and tablets. Also lots of people have old phones which are good enough as display.
That's a good idea if you have a phone laying around and want to control things with that! I don't think I will be doing a video about that though, I barely have time to create videos with the things I use myself. :)
this is great, either the whole project and the video is crystal clear; I've just one question, is it possible to use the NSPanel 120 in landscape orientantion (I mean rotated 90° compared to the normal vertical position) ???
@@papperone thank you! Great question, I will get back to you about that. I know I thought about that before if someone wanted to do that. I think it gets right if you upload the eu TFT file to the us panel. I will get back to you during the day. Starting an upload to my us panel now. Either way we will fix it if you want that to work.
Hi! Ive checked now. If you have a US panel and set it as a EU panel in settings and upload the GUI-file it will work. You will have to have the buttons on the left side otherwise it will be upside down. One weird things is that either the US screen is wider or more pixels are actually showing so our GUI-file does not use the entire screen which results in a blackborder to the right about 5mm. I can fix that in a feature update so that our backgroud at least fills the entire screen. If you join our discord and text me I can upload pictures if you want to see what it looks like.
Thanks for the video, great work!! I wanted to ask if it is also compatible with the NSPanel Pro, I searched through the comments but I can't find anything about it. Thanx!
Thank you for the encouragement. :) Unfortunately it is not compatible with the NSPanel Pro since that panel works in a different way. It would be super cool to develop some kind of web ui for the Pro with which would give the same functionality but I think it might be a little to big of an enhancement to work on right now...
Unfortunately not. We have talked about that it would be cool to create the same solution for the Pro but not more than just talking. Who knows in the future? Thanks for subscribing! 😊

OpenHAB (docker) installation is relevant also in case when using container installation of Home Assistant instead of hassio

Hello and thank you! It does not yet but we have a plan for adding a Thermostat page as it seems a lot of people want that.

Same process of installing can be on the nspanel pro versions?
