Mid side processing is honestly one of those advanced perspectives. Once you get your head and ears around it all your stuff starts to sound super clean!!
Absolutely! I totally agree - especially when using it for mastering as well - its give more of that polished sound many are after.
When I learned this technique and just the overall mid-side eq mixing this summer everything changed! My mixed are clean rn🔥
midside eq is everything!
❤️
@ProdMonja not really, just try it out for yourself in logic's EQ
Man.. thank u so much for all of this free information.. don’t take this for granted people!
You're welcome! and thank you!
We need more industry standard tutorials
putting together some!

dude, amazing video
Another great tip: use the “dual mono” of Logics channel eq and change the settings to mid/side only. You can mid/side eq your track with only eq plugin
what do you mean?
@@SIMONREMISH when selecting Logic’s Channel EQ you get the option of Dual Mono, Mono or Stereo. Choose Dual Mono and within the Channel EQ plugin you can set Mid/side EQ or L/R
Its a great tip, but keep in mind that if the source has lowend contet with stereo seperation (has bass in the sides), and you eq them out only in the sides, the overall signal has lost som bass. This can be checked if you sum the signal to mono after the eq plugin. It doesnt have to be bad, just keep it in mind. The alternative is to get a imaging plugin that sums everything under a specific frequency to mono
Absolutely but here's something to consider as well, almost all of the 808 bass and sub samples are processed already so maintaining space in the stereo field by doing a slight cut for the kick and bass around 100Hz and use the soft clipper technique.... you can't go wrong my friend but like the saying goes, trust your ears. Respect.
Thnk you

Killer information 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 💎 gems
Cannot express how grateful I am for each and every video🙏🏿
After all this time, I'm still learning Logic tricks. I've used Dual Mono before for M/S processing, but never explored that "Processing" drop down. Thanks for the great channel!
Great tip! What a time saver, would do something similar by duplicating the track and having a stereo with a high pass and a mono with a low pass... this is so much easier. Thanks!
I do this of fabfilter proq3, I've fully ignored the M/S capability of logic's stock eq. The advantage of fab filter is you can have seprate bands for L, R, Mid, Side and Stereo all in the same instance of the plugin, so if you want to do all you normal EQ in stereo and then do a big low cut on the side channel only you can. But the advantage of Logic stock plugins is they are way more CPU friendly.
Thats the bass in that Pop Smoke Skepta and Cudi song

u are the best logic pro x teacher on youtube
my pleasure - thank you for enjoying the videos

You’re welcome 😊
WHOA that's flippin amazing.. Great tutorial.
Been watching your videos for years I remember your Edm tutorials!!
I used to do a lot of them - I am thinking of bringing them back to the channel
Thank you 🙏
Damn I've worked in Logic for years and had no idea this feature existed! Thanks fam
I think it’s only on the new Logic update... Cuz been using Logic for years and I never saw that
Your vids are so helpful bro thank you! Keep going
thank you - appreciate the kind words!
Been aware of mid/side for a while but this is the best video tutorial we've seen for LPX's eq. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Very informative
great tips thanks!
Boz Digital vst Mongoose does a simple amazing job of this in one plugin
straight and concise, down to the point. thank you!

This was a great tutorial you’ve got a sub ✊🏼
Appreciate that. Thank you 🙏
love this tip bro, very useful!
Great tips as always Adam! Thank you 🙏
My pleasure!
Thanks for the tip.
Your welcome 🙏
I do this all the time in Ableton Live with the utility plugin (which I think is a lot quicker to do). Especially on the master channel I set everything below about 100 to 150 hertz to mono which fixes a lot of problems.
exctly - this is usually one of the first things mastering engineers do to clean and control the low end.
You're the EFFIN MAN!!! Thank you for this one, much appreciated!
Glad to help!
@@imamusicmogul I also found that using the soft clipper technique (Overdrive Plugin in Logic) along with the mid-side EQ on this tutorial can definitely make a difference to cut thru the mix and still hit hard.
Thanks so much for this! You’re very helpful for us independent artist / producers the use Logic Pro. Could you show us how to do mid & side compression?
This is a great advice, thanks a lot for sharing it
your welcome - my pleasure
WOW BRO! GAME CHANGER!!
This is an incredible tip man. Thanks

Perfect bro
Love this tip, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
awesome video
Great.
Thank you bro
How can I do it on FL?
whats the difference with doing this and just making the 808 track which is in stereo, by making it mono, by pressing the 2 small circles in the channel strip?
Wow thanks so much. HELLA USEFUL
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the video. Hello from Berlin, I like the music of the video what is it?
Thanks for this
Love your content !
I appreciate that!
those unbox therapy studio vibes
yessir
thank you!!
How can I do this in FL Studio? Can you do a tutorial on how to do it in FL Studio and if you cant do you know any vids that explain it in FL Studio?
This is good for dnb, most basses have high freq
exactly!
I always put my 808 / Bass on a mono track so I can't do that trick, so do you think it's more interesting to get a stereo track on 808 / Bass and do that trick ? Or is it just a trick to clean an 808 / Bass when it's in stereo ? I'm lost ^^
Also instead of EQ u can make it with DirMix plugin
I am honestly a bit confused. Is this better than separating the sub and mixing it on its own?
sooo helpful...thanks bra
💯💯💯
My goniometer not popping up on my logic how can I get it
love it
💯💯
Buy a green screen if ur going to be putting your persona in future videos! That way u can have more space to see what you are doing in the project!💪💪
Green screens are very expensive though, I literally just searched up the words green screen the top three results were over $300
@@Levijensen-pl1mn yes there are some expensive ones but there are also lots of cheap ones that work well
was thinking that - and trying to find good placement to maximize DAW - will play around with it some more
@@imamusicmogul i would recomend buying the webaround big shot 2! Its under 100$ online and its a great starter green screen! If u buy it shout out to 350ug!
@@imamusicmogul I just wanted to let you know that I got the personus monitors you did a review. They are really great (as I am just starting out with music production) thank you for introducing them to me (I wouldn’t have gotten them without watching you’re video)
But, how do you eq the rest of frequencysss on the bass sound? With another "stereo" eq ?
FabFilter Q3 can do that too
thanks a lot
Can I do this to clean up muddy kicks?
What's the 808 sample in the video?? Sounds so hard
my question is, should I put a side EQ on the Master or on the bass / 808. a lot of tutorials I seen, they put it on the Master
quick question, do you recommend making your kicks mono as well? i’ve seen mixed things online - i haven’t ever put kicks or 808’s in mono before a few days ago but i just wanted to get your perspective.
hey great tip, but some of the concepts you are explaining are not totally correct. When doing a low cut on the side, you are not summing those frequencies to mono, you are simple removing them from the sides. To sum those frequencies to mono, you would need a crossover mono maker instead (like some of the plugins by brainworx) which make any frequencies below the crossover mono.
how would you achieve that with stock plugins?
@@AJkunVM depends on your DAW. On Ableton, you can use the "Utility" plugin, which has a "Bass Mono" option where you select a frequency, and anything below it will be mono'ed.
@@helloitsjury in logic there is a spreader, which selects freqs, but pushes outwards; kinda the opposite effect. i wonder if there’s a stock plug-in in logic that switches freqs to mono like in ableton
@@AJkunVM I think there is a free plugin called Tone Projects Basslane that does it :)
@@helloitsjury amazing :)
should i us this on a kick also or just 808 ?
That thumping 808 drum at 5:00 - is that being processed or is it that beefy straight out the pack? Which sample pack is it from?
It sounds like a 'Zay 808' made popular but the producer Zaytoven
Yoo Adam, what's the 808 sample you're using in this tutorial?
I want that 808 bro
Tnx!
i have a beat where the Peak of the bass is about 75hz, should i still try to keep anything below 100hz mono?
Anyone know if this is possible with FL Studio's Fruity Parametric EQ2, I don't see the option to change Processing on it.
What volume shud my 808 and kick be peaking at ??
Set your 808 at either 3db or 6db lower than your kick. Usually always works well
Good place for kicks is about -10db/9db
Do you have a vid on vocal chains?
working on a vid for that - I have some other ones if you search the channel
Great tips
Glad you like them!
Thank you for leveling up us producers 💯🤘🎼
my pleasure. Thank you!
Great video! Would you recommend just using midside eq on the standard stereo tracks in Logic over using the binaural pan to (sort of) mono sum? I've been messing with binaural pan on the 808's but it just ends up clipping the signal so much, this seems easier and like it would give me more control, I think?
I never even looked for this before. I looked at a few of my recent projects and my signal is right down the middle in mono. Guess I'm ok... lol.
Thanks! So should there be another EQ processing stereo to boost the low end?
perfect
Thank you 🙏
The man is a genius right!?
HEy, can you do this with vocals too..
yes it can be depending on tight you want your vocals to sound - you could have vocals in the middle and effect on left ant right like the reverb and delay. could give a nice full sound
@@imamusicmogul Dang. i didn't realize you responded.. My bad.. I was watching this again.. lol.. Thanks dude.. This info is valuable..
But why is there some kind of stereo on some tunes 808s below 30 hz? In trap/hip hop it sounds really clean
Which pro mixed songs do that?
Can i do that with ableton?
Utility plugin
I use ozone Imager to do this but not in my mix, just in my Master at the end
Does this make any diffrents?
not really - ultimately it would be the same thing - just one on individual track and the other on the mix as a whole - mastering engineers usually apply this technique on masters to get back clean and punchy while pulling up the highs on the sides for added width.
Thanks man. Quick question, are u also opening the instrument in mono or do u open it stereo?
usually I got them set and opened in stereo
Love from India like always bro.
Appreciate the love - thank you!
