Ferrari wins LeMans, Toyota wins the Manufacturers cup and Porsche wins the Drivers' title. This was one of those rare seasons in which the top competitors each won a major trophy.
And next year, we get even more players. Next year, late 80's, early 90's F1 sounds come back with the Valkyrie that will scream its way to being a fan favourite. Le Mans is going to have a very, VERY loud sound track to it. 2 Cadillacs, 2 Valkyries, 2 Toyotas, 4 Porsche's, 3 Ferraris, 2 Alpines, 2 BMW's, 2 Peugeot's, (maybe 2 lamborghini's, we'll see). That sound track is going to be insane at 2 in the morning down the Mulsanne. Then in 26, Hyundai, and Mclaren appear to be joining in the fun too.
@@kylemitchell2052 I doubt it will be sustainable in the long run. Peugeot and Lamborghini (who will take over VW group's GT3 customer racing programme) already looking to withdrawal and maybe Toyota who will probably move over to F1
@@use-oc4mj6n It will be sustainable. Toyota will remain for years to come since they are very interested in the future hydrogen class, and they dont have plans to fully commit to F1 until late 2020s or even 2030 (its partnership with haas is purely commercial and sharing tecnical staff to gather information). Lamborghini has just started and will surely improve next year with two cars to play with, and is true that Peugeot might leave soon if they dont start to get competitive next season but you will still have 9 manufacturers for 2026, and probably more since Honda, McLaren, and Mercedes are interested to join in the future.
@@use-oc4mj6nKnowing Toyota they probably will join F1 while staying in WEC. They are the world's best selling brand ofc they have money to spare. And besides they already revealed a GT3 concept car that will replace the Lexus in the next couple years so clearly, they don't seem to have plans to leave WEC any time soon.
@@use-oc4mj6n Like 2 or 3 months ago Toyota was considering a third car under the name of another team (like the Yellow 499P). Not the kind of thing you think about when you planning on move to F1 lol
@use-oc4mj6n toyota has made no mention of dropping their hypercar program for F1 like Audi did. They intend to run a hybrid program when the hydrogen regs show up in 27. Lambo is potentially going on a 1 year leave on order to develop the car more, and make it more competitive for WEC. They will still race in IMSA. Peugeot might withdraw in a couple years, but so might a bunch of OEMs. So far, we're in a golden age for top class of prototype racing. Why can't we just be excited for what we have now and what is to come, instead of looking to when it falls apart? Real buzzkill here.
Ferrari has been penalised for exceeding its tyre allocation for using two more tyres than the permitted. Two fresh tires are big advantage in endurance races.
MVPs for me this race Hypercar: Seb Buemi, got spun early by a GT car but came back up and made the deciding move for the win GT3: Tom van Rompuy, (Corvette #81) he went from 8th to 3rd in one stint and was holding his own as a bronze fighting against silvers and pros midway through the race.
Second half of the race was soooo good, next year gotta be a thriller, thanks WEC for and amazing szn, hopefully Ferrari can perform better overall and not only on Le Mans
Remove the IMOLA strategy fuck up and the Questinable SPA elongated race and Ferrari would have 2 more wins,i don't think that car isn't capable of winning other race apart Lemans, 83 Ferrari won Cota too
Solid race from Corvette. A nameplate. Others use manufactures names and emblems for the likes of Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, etc. Not Chevrolet Corvette but just Corvette. Even the emblem displayed is the iconic Corvette logo.
Hey WEC, the thumbnail photo is a little bit weak… a blurry, cropped screenshot from the broadcast? I’d find an actual photo to help this highlights video stand out from the other small clip videos. As always, much love :)
I'm a Seb fan so I'm delighted for him. It more than makes up for his clumsy scuffle with Kevin Estre at COTA. Delighted Toyota got something out of the Season because I'm a Toyota GR fan too. Porsche Penske deserved to be winners too because they have a great team. I have to say, WEC and IMSA > Formula 1 for me now. I don't follow F1 anymore and the timing of that decision coming into this year has coincided with a golden era for sportscars. Long may it continue and long may it remain competitive in both major sportscar series.
The best race in Bahrain this year, by far. And of course, the best 8 hour race of this year, besides the Suzuka 8 Hours. 2024, the best WEC season ever apart from all of the others from 2012 to present. The WEC of 2024 is also the best motorsport season of the year, along with IMSA. I am looking forward to 2025 and 2026. :)
I love WEC it’s great racing. This is the title decider in a great season and the grandstands are empty. I know why they race in the gulf but this really needs to be looked at.
What an season finale Toyota nightmare but somehow they solve the problems to win the race with #8 and takes home the manufacture title again, Ferrari on the way to win the title but an puncture and several incidents leave them with frustration on one hand but some a bit to smile on the other, Porsche crazy race from chances of win to at least podium and saving home the Championship just ahead of #50, might the first time that both title contenders not scoring points at the finale, Crazy finale, Schumacher taken points at the rookie season finale, Rossi with problems can't keep the car in top 5, Finally history to written again, Porsche comeback and finally they take the world title in lotterer farewell year it's like Webber back in 2015 a lot of history for Porsche it's their season! Winning IMSA, The Formula e drivers championship & The Wec 🎉⚡🏁🍾🏆🤩🇩🇪✊

Cool seeing Nakajima and Lotterer in that shot, I remember when they were teamares all those years ago in Super gt.
