    Great save!!!! Those handles are beautiful now... I can't believe the stripper made mush of the old handles! I never would have thought the safe stuff would do that! =) Thanks!!!!!!

    • @357magdad
      @357magdad  4 года назад

      Thanks ScoutCrafter! I used that stripper to get paint off of a plastic tool box so I thought it would be OK on the putty knife handles. It was a good excuse for some wood and brass!

    Beautiful job on the handles! And thanks for the warning about chemicals which "eat" the plastic handles. I've made some razor-sharp knives from old HYDE carpet knives & use them in 18th century & Civil War re-enactments. The HYDE blades, which I have, are carbon steel & hold a great edge! Thanks

    Without the exposed metal tang around the handle it makes it seem like a real luxury tool. Those 4-in-1 file/rasp are handy, I have 3 of them.

    • @357magdad
      @357magdad  4 года назад

      I woulda gone full tang, but those funny notches pushed me into a sort of hidden tang deal. The stain and gloss finish do a good job hiding the glue seams! I agree, those rasp tools are handy!
