Doing this work there is always a chance of eye injury, but there is also always a certainty of hearing injury. Whenever you are exposed to loud noise, your hearing is being harmed. 100% probability.
It is hard to believe this is happening in today’s world. Very primitive and unsafe working conditions. No ear protection , no eye protection , no special “ heat resistant “ work uniforms . Heath hazard working conditions. Poor workers ! I hope they will get better working conditions soon.
I share your hope, but there are thousands of good examples of why it's not done this way in much of the world anymore. They're definitely losing hearing every day and it would be stunning if these guys don't get some serious burns and the occasional lost eye. Not to mention the other common injuries you'd see like heavy objects dropped on feet or legs - heck, the fellow at 2:55 removing the piece from the power hammer nearly slammed a yellow hot steel bar onto the foot of his coworker - missed by just a few cm, and that only because he had already stepped back. This type of manufacturing treats the workers as a disposable part, unfortunately.

The time when the workers were only beasts of burden, without any rights or any recognition of their dignity. How many work accidents are there in such rudimentary and under-equipped workshops? How many injured each year? In what state do these workers end their working day, their lungs full of dust and smoke, their joints traumatized, their backs broken? They don't even have proper work clothes and their gear is at least dangerous and at worst suicidal. We see in their gestures which are repetitive like robots that they perform the same task tirelessly every day, absolutely identical. Not to mention their salary, which must be miserable.
