I really like these jets, I honestly really enjoy Russian military equipment personally by far has some of the most unique equipment. As an American who really loves both sides Russia fascinates me with what they are capable of building when in comparison.
They just never produce them to use in combat lol. Great if they do loads of air shows.

Cobra manouver just makes it a bigger and slower target to shoot down.
Dont forget that both jets have a supersonic speed and inertion. Cobra decrease speed and could swap jet positions.

If the jet has to do a cobra that means he's already engaged in within visual range combat. Kinda beats the purpose of stealth in the jet in that case.

The lack of radar absorbing materials as well as a very not-stealthy design allows more stealthier jets (such as the USAF F-35, who's RCS of 0.001 m^2 makes it 1000x stealthier than the SU57), to engage the jet outside of visual range and shoot it down undetected. It should also be noted that the F-35 and the F-22 are just as maneuverable as the SU57. In other words, the SU57 sucks.

BTW its not a cobra but Anataoly Kvochurs signature pilot manuever called Kvochur Bells. Anatoly Kvochur was a famous Russian testing pilot and invented this extreme manuever. Ever since he died every company has been trying to build a plane that was capable to do this manuever easier than he did it. Since he did it with a Su-30 and Mig-29 Fulcrums. For people who dont understand The Su-30 and the Mig-29 are older and harder to manuever then the 5. gen fighters now.

There are only 10 of these operational in Russian Air Force. Russia designs these amazing aircraft but doesn't have the money or production capacity to build many at all. I don't think it would last 2 minutes agains any US fighters, it's all about electronics, cyberwarfare, detecting the enemy first , getting in the first shot, etc.

Also, F-35 is a potato that cannot flight over the speed of sound for more than a few minutes. You usually don’t go into a dogfight you normally go in beyond visual range engagement, in which case it’s equally matched with the F35 in such fights but not in a dogfight.

I am just someone who always had a thing for military aircraft (especially models) and have been on flight shows.
It is hard to me as an grown up man to leave the facts outs that those beautiful machines are made to destroy and kill.
But the Su-57 in my opinion is the most "beautiful" stealth fighter out there.
And the maneuverability is really really impressive. Just within peace times it must be a dream for every pilot to fly this thing.

Saying that some airplane's cobra ability is a thing that causes NATO to panic only means that person have no idea what they're talking about :D
This maneuver is pretty useless in 99% of air combat scenarios. Looks good, though.
It would sound much better if Sukhoi's thrust vectoring ability was mentioned, but it also doesn't really do much in modern air combat that happens in most cases from tens or even hundred kilometers away.
The most important thing in these times is powerful radar, long range missiles with independent well functioning seeker and system of advanced communication/information exchange between units around(datalink).
Best comment, @Lesminster is correct. This pretty plane with it's circus maneuvers is worthless against US air superiority, and they only have: 10 (!) in service as of 8/2023 . Those 10 are for air shows, recruitments, and flying infomercials for foreign sales, not to actually engage in any combat. If they lose even one in combat.. there go the foreign sales...

I think being agile is not something you can't show off about. Modern day, is all about stealth. Radar or heat tracking. Most jet kill each off with a missiles that you never can see other jet flying. Ground to air defense. Jet, is for night mission, and back up for ground force. Fast, and sneak attack. Dog fight will be very rare

There will never be a jet fighter vs a jet fighter directly in a modern war. Jet fighters may be for air superiority but UAVs are the real game changer. Even SU-57 is less stealthy, the Russian can use drone swarm to detect those overhyped US fighters. This is just a simple example and they have more strategies to offer in reality.

You were building planes that, by their doctrine, were supposed to make 1-2 flights before they were shot down, and you were supposed to achieve an advantage only in quantity, not quality. You assume that super maneuverability gives you an advantage, while most NATO aircraft are capable of downing your machines before they realize they have become a target....
