- This traditional recipe is easy to make and absolutely delicious. Anyone can follow my easy recipe above the beginner and expert alike.
I am not a trained chef or baker but man do I know when something tastes damn good.

This is the traditional Voortrekker food from the days when the brave and adventurous Afrikaner forged through the unknown wild and dangerous territory of South Africa from the Cape into the interior using cumbersome wagons pulled by teams of oxen. An amazing history.

Thank you for this recipe. I make vetkoek regularly. Instead of waiting for the oil to cool down if too hot, one can add some additional oil in the pot to cool it down faster

wow that’s awesome I really want to try this! My friend from Africa shared this video with me! So ima give it a try and maybe put some pull pork in it 😋 oil tips were helpful because it makes sense how it has to be low so it gives the bread a chance to cook! Ima try this 👍🏽
