  • Welcome back!
    Did you ever think limewash was possible on Textured walls? It is, but most steer away from it because of all the bumps and grooves, it can get a bit tricky to balance the textured walls and the limewash subtle movements across. With my own share of trial & error, let me show you how I achieved it on our primary bedroom makeover.

      yay, I'm so glad it helped! For some reason the textured walls reacted better with the darker color as the last coat. I would recommend testing it on a swatch or on a wall so that you see if you like it best!

    I have MS and use wheelchair. Wondering, I have a paint roller that sucks up paint ..the lack of uniformity of this method might work with my shakes if I can use the pole and roller. Your thoughts?

    • @hauzandco
      @hauzandco  10 месяцев назад

      Hey there! I have heard of the 1st coat being able to coated with a paint roller, but for the 2nd coat, I'm not 100% confident if the roller would do. Do you have flat or textured walls if I may ask? textured walls are definitely harder

    Can you explain how to order the limewash for 50% darker and 200% darker tints? I’m not seeing the tint options anywhere on the portola paints website.

    • @hauzandco
      @hauzandco  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Taylor, normally to order it's not a direct self checkout, you have to fill out a quote of what you want { regular, or certain tint %) and they will send you the pricing for it via email within 24-48 hours. If the order looks right, you can then directly self-check out with that quote email to pay. I called Portola a couple times to make sure I was ordering the right tints too, so it might help you too!

    • @hauzandco
      @hauzandco  4 месяца назад +1

      great question! they don't have a normal cart/checkout, they ask you to get a quote which open a comment field and you request what you're looking for. It's also easy just to call them and they're wonderful over the phone. In less than 24/48 hours they send you a invoice via email to review and if all looks good you can pay from there. And for the limewash layering, the coats in order were Limewash Primer + Eastwood Regular + Eastwood 200% darker as the final coat. Hope that helps!

    do you need primer if your walls are already white?

    • @hauzandco
      @hauzandco  5 месяцев назад

      It's recommended, but you could always test one small wall and see how it does? I feel like the limewash settles better with the limewash primer since they're the same type of paint vs. an existing latex paint using a total different type of paint, it might not seep in

    • @MaxxPwrrr
      @MaxxPwrrr 4 месяца назад

      yes, you definitely need MINERAL PRIMER so the lime has something to key into via capillary action

    What happens if you scratch the limewash wall? Is it easy to clean? Or the color fades as you take a wet rag to clean it?

    • @hauzandco
      @hauzandco  5 месяцев назад +1

      So far I've been able to clean scratches off without a problem, but you really have to wet rub gently. Overtime it can rub the color off if your wet rubbing the area continuously. But limewash paint companies usually also carry a sealer for easier wall cleaning. The sealer is applied after the limewash final coat and it's good to use for kitchens and bathrooms since there's more wall cleaning involved in those areas. Hope the tip helps :)

      @@hauzandco thanks for the info! Thats great news. We want to do limewash in our garage remodel. I was wondering if Lime wash accepts sealers. I sometimes do decorative concrete and we always seal with acrylic based sealers to protect stains or overlays.

    • @MaxxPwrrr
      @MaxxPwrrr 4 месяца назад

      it can be sealed, but each company offers its own preparations; alternatively a chalk paint wax sealer can be used, or Linseed oil ( will darken paint)

    This is so much easier to just water down regular paint in 2+ shades and brush on the same way. This was literally done in every custom home in Scottsdale in the early 2000’s lol. Now it’s being done harder and called a fancy name.🤷🏼‍♀

      Lime wash is not at all a ‘new’ thing. Centuries old - literally. If you own a historic property, lime wash is the almost always THE wall covering to use.
