I used to play all these sierra game on pc speaker, dreaming I had a sound card which I couldn’t afford. At some point, I managed to have one. Today, interestingly enough, pc speaker sound and music is what I miss the most.
AHHH! This is so cool! I used to sneak into my brother's room when I was little to play this game and some AD&D games on his computer when he wasn't home :-)
@brillopad6911 to be fair, 8 is ok-ish for what it is ( it's just not a kq) and 7 had pleasant ( mind, pleasant, not good) visuals...and that was it. A shame after the fantastic kq6
@@samvimesfan9779 I agree and I love 1-4 because I got to play them all on the old school computers when they came out. We didn't have a machine that could but my cousin did so I'd go over and play them. 1 is so old that the remake is fun, the remake of 2 is cool too but I prefer the original. 3 was so hard at fisrt but I liked that challenge. I now have a black cat and when I see him sitting in a room or hallway I can't help but think of 3 every time and it makes me want to play it. 4 was great for the advancements it had over the previous 3. I got 5 for Christmas in 90 and that one was special to me as it was the first game of my own in the series. 6 was fantastic and yeah the pinnacle. When the King's Quest collection released I made sure to buy it so I had all of them. Still fun to play through once a year.
About the bow and arrows, you only get 2 arrows. They are both needed for certain events. If you carelessly shoot one and save afterwards, consider yourself SOL.
I'm making a friend a costume of Rosella the way she looked in this game. We were talking about going to the ren fair together one day, her as Rosella and me as Shinnok. We'd not only have a red theme, but we'd be characters they way they looked in the fourth installment of each franchise. KQ4 is Rosie's first adventure while MK4 is Shinnok's first game playable.
For real. The SCI era was definitely the time of "unwinnable states" (or "dead man walking", as Scott Murphy called them), where you miss one obscure item or text input, and there's no actual death/game over, but the game is unbeatable. SQ3 is probably the one exception, as Scott apparently wasn't a fan of that design. Roberta, on the other hand, clearly loved them, as even KQ5 had a few.
@@607 ""Later games" that I have played on Scummvm are Police Quest: Open Seaon and The 7th Guest. Earlier games would be Kings Quest I (both old agi and updated sgi versions). So I am sure Kings Quest IV will work too. No harm to give it a try. 😊
For those having trouble with playing this in the King's Quest Collection version due to the password thing, the digital game manual contains the password key. You've just gotta print it out and refer to it each time.
Genesta knowed that Lolotte kidnapped Edgar when he was a baby from Oberon and Titania. Is the because She realize that the Witch transform the baby Fairy in a baby hunchback. Rosella was the Key for Edgar
53:00 makes no sense. The villain has the cute girl prisoner and lets her go. It would have made more sense if she like squeezed through the bars of the cell. That's how Billy the Kid escaped from jail many times. The cell was designed to hold men. Not a skinny young boy.
Excellent video for a great game! True classic, and hopefully in the future indie studios will be able to develop more like this! Maybe a HD remake like they did for Day of the tentacle!
I don't know why, but I fell down those damn stairs so much.
Open door........ You're not close enough..... Priceless
My first adventure game when I was a kid.
Very funny but anxious and a little scary.

75% of the playthrough is trying to walk somewhere and failing 😂 Thank you for making this video, it's been so long since I've seen this gameplay 😁
Thank you for these wonderful memories (without all the modern banter) I appreciate your content

THANK YOU FOR REKINDLING MY CHILDHOOD FEELINGS!!
Love this game!! King's Quest 1-6 I still go back and play at least once a year.
And I love how you ( rightfully so) ignore 7 and 8🤣🤣
@@samvimesfan9779 Yeah I tried 7 but couldn't get into it and 8 I was just like what is this? lol

The pinnacle were 5 and 6, i adore those 2, and kq3 is very dear to me as it was my first sierra title

If the king had black hair and the queen brown hair, why is the princess blonde? I sense shenagans.
this is where i want to live
Thank you for playing my favorite game of all time :)
このゲームを必死にしていたら、英語大好きになり、私には最高の英語教材だったなぁ😊
How dare you. Successful dodged the shark.

I know it's very wishful thinking but I really want this game to get a fun re-release.
just walk with the arrow keys, god damn it
Seriously, this video is excrutiatingly bad. I had to stop watching after 12 minutes.

I fully expected to see Larry..Larry Laffer in a cameo. Lol. Like in Police Quest 2 in the airport. 😅
Back when sound cards where new. Adlib or SB sound blaster!
Ah, King's Quest IV, when the gloves really came off and Roberta Williams decided, "[REDACTED] the player."
Indeed. Was also the first Sierra game I ever played, when I was about 8. That was quite the introduction to the series, and the genre as a whole.
XanthinZarda hey they had to jumpstart the strategy guide industry
Miles Greger haha those games are almost impossible without a strategy guide

It's kinda lame how ALL the goons fall asleep at the very end when ahe escapes?!😂 i understand maybe one guard being lazy...but ALL of them!?😂
This Musik
Love it😎😎😎😎
How can you still play these old games? I really love them
libby strong DOSbox is often the answer.
@@607 Scummvm is another good choice.
David Snell For these games too? I only know it from LucasArts and Humongous Entertainment.

Steam. They come with DOSbox (or similar).
Beautiful SCIV graphics, especially the living tree forest.
I think I useded a year of some years on this and space quest. Thank you

I miss these graphics so much.
Oh and Arrow Keys... come on... Use the damn arrow keys.... you're killing me smalls
I gotta agree. Using the mouse to move almost makes this unwatchable.
Just came out of curiosity after having completed KQ6 30 years after its release.
Genesta knowed that Lolotte kidnapped Edgar when he was a baby from Oberon and Titania. Is the because She realize that the Witch transform the baby Fairy in a baby hunchback. Rosella was the Key for Edgar
I would never use external speakers. Something about the Midi internal PC speakers made this game unique to me.
Why are your typed commands beginning with the, “/?” Are you a hacker or playing a hacked version... Sierra are pretty strict about that!
Haven’t seen this game since the 80’s.
The beginning terrifies me!

When i would get killed, it was always funny and scary xD
13:18 Compleat?
The Oxford English Dictionary says that compleat is just an archaic spelling of complete. It died out around the end of the eighteenth century
What about lighting up the area behind waterfall? What about the golden ball?
Sadly no Homebrew version yet, Overall great game that stars the Princess of Daventry!
There is KQ IV Retold that adds a point and click interface but no graphical changes.
@@labrynianrebel Still would've liked a Homebrew Version like the first ones.
Video could've been an hour long if they used F5+Enter to save and stopped typing backslashes before everything.
Loved this game
i forgot the whale had teeth...
well Rose broke the curse from part 2
This game desperately needed hand railings
Edgar looks like Igor.

Oh no. A CHASM!
57:22 I enjoyed this game as a kid.... until that damned whale swallowed me and I could not complete the scene. 🙄
Stop typing slashes before every input. You don't have to do that.
😊😊😊😊🌺🌺🌺
I thought this game was great in 1722, but I just can't muster myself to watch it now.
F3 that's all I got to say.

Wow, this is SO bad.
Wish they remade this in the 90's but people HATED that.
Freaking jerks.
