    The cork guns, in my opinion were a change for the better. It's a lot more humorous seeing the cork fly right over the player's head and seeing Bowser overreact when he gets hit, delayed reaction and all.

      I agree. And, while I think the UK taking offense to "spastic" (or "spaz") is a sign that being PC isn't just an American phenomenon, changing "spastic" to "erratic" actually helps with the rhyme scheme.

      Wupar Still they've been a Mario staple since the second game. Plus there are white carrots too.

    • @Wupar
      @Wupar 6 лет назад +19

      @@BJGvideos Turnips and daikon radishes aren't the same thing, the latter are pure white and much bigger and longer in real life, more akin to the veggie in the minigame. Plus, it would only be a "canonical" SMB2 turnip if it had the cartoony face on it, and not only that, but Nintendo likes to forget that SMB2 ever happened just because it's not a "real" Mario game. Either way, carrots are much more iconic in America than any kind of radish, beet, turnip, or rutabaga, so the change was just for instant readability purposes I would guess.

    It's funny they removed the lines of Luigi, and Wario saying "Oh my god!", even thought I remember Amy Rose saying the exact same thing while playing Sonic Heroes in 2004 as Team Rose by finding a hidden area in Final Fortress. XD Also, I'm not sure why the mambo-like track was removed in Musical Mushroom, and Balloon Burst in the American release of MP (1998), but, for some reason, was still kept in even the European version... :/ Yeah, I actually found out just recently on the Super Mario Wiki that Wario in the Western release whenever he loses a mini-game in both MP1, and MP2 that he actually says "So ein mist", which is German for "Aw, crap!" lol I don't get why they changed the guns to firing lame corks considering that bullets aren't even shown in the original Japanese release, I wish they at least kept the firing sounds, and the smoke effects... No idea why Professor Fungi's pipe was removed considering it never shows smoke coming out of it. I find it pretty pointless that the Japanese version of MP3 of Donkey Start was changed to DK Start considering that during the Cast Of Characters lineup at the end of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest Donkey Kong was shown as "Donkey", as well as changing the announcer to saying "Game Over" whenever a player loses during an Item Mini-game, whereas they say "Miss" in the Japanese version, especially the fact that the "Game Over" line isn't even available in the Sound Test room. Why were the turnips in the Japanese version of Garden Grab in MP6 changed to carrots in the Western release? We know what reference it's from! I'm really sad that they removed the voice clips of Bright, and Luna from Western version... No clue why they switched announcers in the North American version.
    Hopefully, Super Mario Party doesn't have any alterations outside of Japan, I don't think it will, but, we'll see.

      Kingnewcomer it’s because mario party and sonic heroes had different development teams and I don’t think sonic team have any issues with putting any religious references in their games since the next game they released (Shadow the hedgehog) had lots of characters saying “hell”

    Another change I have noticed between the American and European releases of Mario Party 8, is that the font used when characters speak is different. And the player panels also includes an X before the coin and star number amount on the American version, while the X is missing in the European version.
    You can see the difference in the screenshot at 6:38, where the font is more rounded, and the X on the player panels are missing. This is the European version (although an early version because it still says "spastic" instead of "erratic"). And the gameplay footage at 6:49 is the American version, where the font is different and is spaced out awkwardly, and you can see an X before the coin and star number amount when the player panel appears at 6:56.

Also, Kamek's line in Mario Party 8 was eventually changed in both American and European versions to something like "Let me use my magic to make this a little more interesting".

    this spastic thing is so straightforward in its intended use I can't believe someone

    it recalled

    • @razzle2429

      Except in the UK it doesn't have the same meaning at all. Spastic in the US means something is erratic or wild, but in the UK it is ONLY used as a slur against those with cerebral palsy. It just a difference of phrasing between countries.
      It's like if someone said "I want to bum a fag". In the UK, it means "can I have a cigarette?". In the US, it means...something very different!
