Elon is to me in both positive and negative extremes. Because of all inventions it is positive but about flirting dictators like Putins Russia it is freekingly spooky and that will make no for pay package. I don't want to sponsor next dictator to rise. So words are as important as things that persons do. And as it runs Tesla I live in EU country where is not a single Supercharger nor service centre and mr Musk even thinks that my country or nation must not exist that is spooky Elon for Me. Some words for some people are not easy to forget.
I think it's slanderous and disrespectful to say Genghis Khan was a net negative... Khan was a Great leader with epic ideals...
@@qkktechwhen did he say this and what country?
I totally agree with your statement around the 14-minute mark... I have the ability to look past the unimportant parts and only pick out the important nuggets of information spoken and I don't get turned off by arrogance or any other negative trait therefore I can listen with a open ear to anyone's claims and arguments and make them better... most people don't even want to even try to troll me and the best government agents that have no ability to even troll me when it comes to the internet... I am the Headmaster troll of Selflessism lol 😂
You're wrong about happiness DR. You are associated the wrong trait it is Passion that is at the outliers! Just look at the rainbow red is the color for passion it is the past. Blue is the positive. Ultraviolet or purple is the passionate positive(red and blue together)... this is a powerful force! Positive and negative joining forces... True progression requires Passion!
As a 79 year old grandmother who is afraid of driving on the freeway, my life is already better because of Elon Musk and FSD. 😊
How?
@@DularrSince I received the 30 days free trial, I have been using FDS to drive from my house to my son’s house that’s 38 mile away. In the beginning I was a bite nervous but once I get used to it, it’s good.
@@shunfangin7645 is that highway driving or local roads? I'm hearing the local roads software stack is much improved. But the highway stack still needs work. That is why I asked, FSD on highways.
@@Dularr it is both. On the freeway when I feel the exit is coming up and am concerned FSD is not moving to the correct lane fast enough, I can click the turn signal and it would change lanes without getting out of FSD. That took out a lot of anxiety. The more I used it the more comfortable I feel.
@@shunfangin7645 thank you for taking the time to respond.
This is really a lesson in the superpower of Asperger's combined with smart and conscientious. Ford, Pieche, Elon, and Jobs all had it. All loved cars.
There’s no evidence Jobs or Ford had Asperger’s. I don’t know who Pieche is.
Rare indeed is the person that can understand difference. 😘
For most Asperger's suffers it's not a superpower, it's a nightmare for them and their loved ones. stop talking like that.

How dare you demand people not talk about something, that makes YOU feel uncomfortable.
@@grumpusmaximus9446 I'm not demanding that they they don't talk, I'm disagreeing with them, it's an argument - remember those? Jeesh, trigger much?
Henry Ford is a fine example of what you're talking about. He's perhaps one of the best industrialists ever lived, gave us the assembly line, and as a result of that great mobility. But it has to be remembered that he was also an inspiration for Adolf Hitler.
Nice job of character assassination.
As long as Hitler wasn't an inspiration for Ford what's the problem?
@@honkytonk4465 it's called high school debate team. Be the first to call your opponent position crazy or link them to Hitler.
Maybe but Hitler failed, VW cars were not as productive an cheap as Ford cars.
He was also a notorious antisemite that blamed all of the evils of the world on Jews
It struck me a couple years ago that Elon was likely prompted by a Carl Sagan lecture (Carl Sagan's 1994 "Lost Lecture": The Age of Exploration). On a Joe Rogan podcast, Elon recited Carl Sagan's: A Pale Blue Dot and he did it from memory. Being somewhere in the spectrum, I am sure Elon took the closing statement from Carl's Age of Exploration lecture and decided to be promoted, not by accident of birth, but instead by his service to humanity. I'm 70 and Prof. Sagan was one of my greater role models.
Elon has mentioned 3 parts of his master plan. Maybe my imagination runs a bit wild, but I see a few more parts of his plan he isn't mentioning and something like and end game he is moving toward before his time is up. Maybe it is coincidence, or then again, it's something that he is consciously trying to accomplish. When I was 19, it was my goal to live to see my 140th birthday. I hope I make it in order to see a convergence between Elon's and Jeff's (Bezos) plans. I think one thing that should be considered is that Elon is not simply firing people, or pushing them out of Tesla or Space X only for the idea of lowering overhead. He is moving people out that are likely equipped to run or join businesses that will fill in the gaps of Elon's plan. Elon realizes that he and his own companies cannot do it all, but look at Redwood, look at some Ex-employees who set up a company to build micro nuclear plants and on and on. Another thing I don't see as being very subtle is Elon's influence and company expansions globally. He could build all of his car companies in North America and ship them around the world. This opens up lines of communication (for instance) of less political nuances with China and the US. This helps reduce the strength of tribal behaviors between nations, however trivial at first. It also helps to "spread the wealth" between nations.
I may be way off track of reality. Yet, I still feel Elon's plans are far above and beyond what most people are thinking.
His plans are flexible and can be modified to suit changed conditions.
@@gregbailey45 No doubt about it.
Excellent analysis. I have wondered the same thing myself. He's a great businessman and he doesn't make these moves frivolously. And he doesn't feel that it's necessary to share every nuance of his thinking.
Totally agree. I also do not agree with everything Elon says, but I don’t agree with anyone 100%. Elon is transparent to a fault but I prefer that over the alternative which is most CEOs. Do the people that hate Elon know the thoughts of all the other CEOs they happily support and buy their products or services? If anyone is honest they cannot deny Elon has had a remarkably positive impact on the human race.
People do live in a fantasy world they created for themselves don't they. Please don't give me any actual facts and spoil my fantasy.
It's weird that people can't separate companies, CEOs and the actions a person takes that are positive from negative. Nvidia is so greedy they'll say, as if AMD and Intel are virtuous. Or Steve Jobs created the iPad so Apple is amazing, but apparently didn't notice the problems with the Magic Mouse and created a company with a culture so arrogant and wasteful that they continue to manufacture that e-waste. But hey, a fan boy will defend Jobs even though he wasn't a nice person, wasn't philanthropic and produced a tonne of absolute e-waste for no reason whatsoever other than his own arrogance and self centred nature.
I can absolutely applaud Steve Jobs for helping Steve Wozniak provide competition to IBM PCs while also loathing him as a human being and an instigator of lots of unnecessary e-waste. He did have pretty good taste in not worrying too much about fashion though (not that I personally want to wear turtle necks but a simplified wardrobe is a good idea.... obviously it's one he got from Einstein because he never met a great idea he didn't steal from someone else of course but at least he did it).
Putin?

You've been granted a 30-day complimentary trial of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for your Model Y ending in 008026.
Under your supervision, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) can drive your Tesla almost anywhere. It will make lane changes, select forks to follow your navigation route, navigate around other vehicles and objects, and make left and right turns. You and anyone you authorize must use additional caution and remain attentive. It does not make your vehicle autonomous. Do not become complacent.
This trial will end on June 10, 2024.
And... The wait should be worth it since you get the latest version! 😁👍
Why knock Elons blunt perspectives. He stands tall every time. His clarity is astounding. He is no shrinking violet. This level of genius needs to be treasured not knocked by people who never did anything significant. Here is a national treasure.

I just made that same argument on another RUclips video yesterday that was trashing on Elon Musk. So many people are so narrow minded and have a hard time seeing the big picture. I completely agree with you and on the flip side there are things about Elon that make me shake my head.
Narrowminded type people tend to overlook things such as when a billionaire sociopath unapologetically publicly labels a person as a diddler and did so without any evidence to back up the claim because they were helping kids to escape from a flooded cave. Etc.

Tesla was already the name of the company before Elon invested into it. His favorite inventor/entrepreneur was Thomas Edison.
Ironically Edison maliciously destroyed Tesla. So Tesla being huge now is Karmic justice in my opinion.

Anxieties may be warranted judging by what was said. Altman does not like being second.

I completely agree with what you say. I am sad though that Elon does not understand it himself. That fact that half of the population really hates his guts is undesirable to say the least. He had become a divider instead of bringing people together. I'm glad you are not afraid of being critical btw.
Fake news media is why some people hate Elon

I guess the moral of the story is that all great movers and shakers (Ford, Edison, Jobs, Musk, Hughes, etc. ) are going to have character flaws from the “norm” and maybe be a$$h0les to their staff due to their committed vision.
Tesla model Y was the Best selling carmodel on planet Earth in year 2023
I feel super lucky of living in the same century with Elon Musk! He change my world!❤
I think all the things Elon is working on we would have if he didn’t exist. He technically hasn’t invented anything. However, I do think without him they would happen latter (potentially much later). I see him as an accelerator for these things. And I think we need the acceleration right now.
I guess Elon never gave you the interview he agreed to.

Elon is over the top sometimes, but what is "bad" about him?
i don't think you are right. He is no longer the same EM 10 years ago. He got more cynical and distracted with his main mission. He also got too rich and famous, surrounded with people sucking up to him, and that has changed him too. EM has also gotten older so he might be slowing down. He has not been taking care of his health physically and mentally.
I’d identify IK Brunel as an Elon type figure!
I definitely agree. Thanks for this careful and eyes-open dissertation on why we need Elon Musk to be exactly who he is. I think fear of the unusual drives the dislike, even hate, of Musk. The more mature mind examines one's own biases while critiquing another person. Cheers.
I agree with you

You can buy Elon, you can sell Elon, you even can trade Elon
Love him or hate him
But you can't change Elon
What a clear, concise, complete thorough picture and lastly honest explanation you have there doctor.

I agree. The fact that most people are emotionally driven drives me crazy. Emotions should not be able to override the rational/logical thinking. I believe in emotions but logic is supreme.
On point!
I have a sneaking feling that the way Elon treats the workforce as of late (particularly as shares have made less in the last couple years). He may drive the workforce into voting for unionisaion. He needs to tread carefully ( impossible idea) whilst he doesn't automate the entire workforce. Unionisation may lead Tesla into stagnation with ongoing workforce conflicts.
Sometimes you cant remploy someone you just sacked as they have lost trust in the leadership and kob security.
Selling supercharger network may be a good move if they still get to provide the kit. And buyback shares with the proceeds to allow Elon to get his percentage share and buybacks promote share price too.
Share buybacks will not give Elon the % voting power he needs, it will basically keep approximately the same ratio's

Very interesting and very exciting, I have been dreaming for 70 years.
I think you hit the nail perfectly on the head. The majority of people probably agree with the majority of what Elon is doing but the few places that they disagree have enough emotional impact that it places him in the “Elon bad” category - no further discussion considered.
I agree completely John. I have been trying to convey this to some people I know who hate Elon. You have laid it out better than I could. I hope this video helps convince some people that we need Elon to succeed. Thanks for sharing this video.
As someone who admired Elon Musk and changed his mind, I cannot get behind a man who treats his workforce with such psychopathic lack of empathy. A man this rich can afford not to Union bust and terrorise staff.
Agree. I wish our governments were filled with people like Elon.
Could not agree more John
Of course I agree with you, I'm not an idiot.
What a SOUTH AFRICAN
Good is good. Bad is bad. Unfortunately, good mixed with bad is BAD. The objective is to denounce bad even if the net good is giantnormous. It is imperative that we dnt tolerate bad!
Sure but people disagree about bad. Many people see Elon as being a positive force for social good not bad. So because you or I may disagree with him and label him bad might not have any meaning because it’s just disagreement not absolute morality of good or bad.
@@aguyfromnothere we may disagree what bad is but there is an objective definition for what bad is and everyone should be held to it. Relativity is what has brought is here. Slippery slope from here onwards.
NASA do say that the first liquid fuelled rocket was launch in 1926, so yeah, we didn't have rockets 100 years ago, but 98. And that does rather ignore all the rockets that existed for many hundreds of years before then, which I think do count. A bit pedantic perhaps but maybe someone can use it for pub trivia, and we may as well spread reality by default.
A person who says it as it is, might be difficult at first, but after time that bluntness can become refreshing as there no need to waste mental energy trying to figure out the real meaning of their words. Anyone signing on with Elon Musk should know it’s going to be a rough ride, but unlike other jobs, this job could make a big difference.
I agree. Elon is doing so much good for all of us. And I think the hate / discontent against him has to do with him expressing himself honestly without being careful of what he can be accused of (even though those accusations are not true)
Dr know what all?
100% agree. 90% of people I talk to can't describe exactly why they dislike him. I suspect it's because he's rich
Maybe their current job is disrupted.
Thank God for Musk, single handedly rescued American space industry from greedy contract vampires. He can do no wrong in my book.
I have followed Elon's career longer than most, since before the Roadster was released. I am still one of his loyal fans. But despite his genius, Elon is very much a product of his generation, and many of his hopes are a result of secular humanist thinking. Man cannot ensure his survival by relocating himself on Mars, any more than a terrorist can rehabilitate himself by going on vacation. We won't reproduce ourselves among the stars and by looking at what is actually staring back at us in the mirror we can begin to see the truth that we are in rebellion against our Creator.
Henry Ford was not easy to talk to and resented most bankers and their greed, but on balance he was a positive element.
Elon makes of habit of retweeting misinformation As long as it fits his beliefs

He get praise when deserved but, he certainly is not above getting his share of truth when he messes up.
Thanks for a great analysis. For me, I not only accept the 95%, but also agree with a good portion of his controversial 5%
It’s simple. Musk is a genuine free thinker who is very intelligent. So he has opinions which go against the sacred cows of many people. That happens with thoughtful non dogmatic people. I don’t agree with lots of Musk ideas but all his are thoughtful and that’s not acceptable in a dogmatic America with “teams”.
People are emotionally chained to the past............Elon is doing a great job

Your best video in a long time 👍
Everyone should step back and take a good look at Elon Musk.
Have seen and enjoyed many, but not all, of your videos. This is your best by far. 🙂
I thank @ElonMusk for restoring my freedom of speech on social media.
I disagree, but not hatefully!
I generally agree that Elon Musk has done a lot of positive stuff and that his companies and their products are truly making the world a better place. However, his actions aren't always consistent with his stated principles. He claims to be a free speech absolutist but he regularly bans people on X who disagree with him. And he claims to want to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy, but he fired the entire Supercharger team at Tesla.
The impression I get from him (from interviews I've caught, AI Day presentations, Tesla earnings calls, and the Ashlee Vance biography) is that he is indeed very strongly mission-driven and can relentlessly pursue the things that he wants-- but he also occasionally has childish fits of pique and does things that make him look like a liar or a hypocrite. If he would rein that in a little more, people would trust him more.
Great commentary Dr. know. I applaud your open mind and not being hateful. Hats off to you.
Why aren’t there multiple bell curves? The “Normal Society” curve where the center is the average of The world population, and an “Advanced Society” curve where the center is the average of “Elon” type of people. Perhaps we need to have. A Venn Diagram of bell curves to better categorize human behavior.
If the AI singularity is what's going to be the end of humanity, we could never escape it. Where the hell would we go that a sufficiently intelligent AI couldn't find us?
Steve Jobs is an example for the negative. He made giving up your human dignity "cool".
Losers hate winners.
You were unclear about what your bell curve represents about people. If you're looking at intelligence, the bell curve is a reasonable representation; however, if you are trying to make some representation of a positive vs negative person, I don't believe using a bell curve is reasonable at all. In my view, both Genghis Khan and Nikola Tesla are on the right side of the bell curve. The smartest people (on the RHS) of the bell curve are the ones who can have the biggest affect on the world, and often the ones who can mostly clearly see how things could be better/different.
Overall, I have supported the things Elon Musk does, but of late he has made 3 big mistakes in rapid succession all having to do with Tesla. These mistakes have the appearance of increasing the "hate Elon" faction. Let me be clear, I don't hate Elon Musk but: 1. He shouldn't have released FSD V12.3 as if it weren't still a beta. V12.3.x is a whole new software stack and makes a lot of mistakes that scared all my Tesla owning friends. I wasn't scared only because I was already a tester. 2. He was completely ham-fisted about mothballing the Model 2 which does have some truth to it. Substituting/pivoting to Robotaxi/Cybercab instead is years away and not a reasonable substitute to be showcased on August 8th. It's clear the Tesla Executive team has covered for him by announcing using the existing production lines to make new cheaper models, which will now have to be hastily planned and executed. 3. Elon laid off too many people from the Supercharger megafactory. Reps from the electric companies have nobody to talk to about finishing the projects that were already in progress. People try to cover for Elons's huge mistake and that it's not that bad, but the truth is he fired way too many people and now Tesla can't finish the work that was on its plate. At a minimum, Elon needs a good long vacation.
And I believe his purchase of "X" is a complete mistake and hasn't improved the level of disinformation in social media, which is the greatest threat to American democracy. The threat isn't free speech; it's disinformation.
Well thought out and said. The bell curve says it all, depends where you are on it.....
You can champion Elon’s accomplishments while still being able to be critical of things that aren’t going well. Buying Twitter was a huge mistake and will go down in history as one of the worst business deals ever made. Will that decision ultimately tank Tesla in the next few years? Time will tell.
Half the people are negative because they can be.
I acknowledge and support all the work that he has done. Not me or anyone can take that away from him. I still follow along observing SpaceX, Neuralink, Tesla, etc. And I know that everyone isn't person, but he 100% lost me when he started embracing the alt right and race politics.
Hey you forgot he has been doing this for free since 2018 thanks to that Sandy Judge in Delaware.
No Hate is unjustifiable. Isn't it?
His engineering accomplishments make him perhaps the greatest engineer to ever live. Add on his fighting for free speech and it makes him one of the most important people to ever live.
