This solo by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour probably made a lot of Fender Stratocaster sales and I must admit that I also thought this was recorded on a Strat. The power of DI recording and overloading mic preamps combined with the snap of compression and those weird frequencies you get when you record guitar outside of a guitar amp make for a special sound.

Yeah, I was convinced for decades, that this solo was recorded with a strat. I just took it for granted. It just sounds so quintessentially stratty.
