    It's amazing hearing the discrepancy between Roth's speaking and singing voice. It's hard to imagine such a strong Baritone voice coming out of that little man.

    Detlef Roth has a wonderful voice but his visual interpretation of the role gives it the animation it deserves and so rarely receives. So handsome too.

    Among the most endearing qualities of Detlef Ross's Papageno is his almost child-like vulnerability and sense of wonder . He's extraordinary in this role.

      I agree strongly. I've heard many versions of this piece but none can match his childish wonder. He sings this with a lightness that is utterly charming beyond measure.

    Has anyone noticed how Papagena's dress and mask just DISAPPEAR from the ground at 5:40? Now, that's special effects...

      HOW did they do that?

    • @AutisticSpaceman
      @AutisticSpaceman Год назад

      @@mackiemesser9319 From watching it in slow motion, it appears that the mask and shawl of the old woman’s costume are connected to each other by a thin line/wire, and are designed to break away when a light pressure is applied.
      My guess is that the performer playing Papagena is standing near a trap door where a stage hand under the stage is holding one end of the line that attaches the old woman costume together. At the right moment, the stage hand pulls on the line, the old woman costume breaks apart and is pulled down through the trapdoor.

    Il pavimento è costruito con delle parti retrattili...guarda anche il tavolino dell'inizio...Il vestito è fatto in modo da tale dapoterle essere strappato di dosso ed in pratica viene tirato sotto il palco.

    Solo una cosa: io non ho mai capito che fine fa, materialmente parlando, il travestimento da vecchietta di Papagena...cioe', il bello e' che a un certo punto (5.40 min.) maschera e abito spariscono nel nulla, scompaiono magicamente!!! Voglio dire, nel video potrebbe anche essere un fotomontaggio, ma chi ha visto dal vivo lo spettacolo, cosa ha visto!?! ;-DDD Un vestito che si smaterializzava? =OOOO E' tutto molto strano!!!;-PPP

    eine absolut Erfreuliche Darstellung (stimmlich sowieso, aber auch spielerisch)
    Leider kann ich seiner französischen Papagena in dieser Einspielung wenig abgewinnen - Le Roi ist stimmlich gut und nett anzusehen, aber ihr extremes "undeutsch" zerstört imo die Rolle ... man hat das Gefühl die hat keine Ahnung was sie eigneltich singt.
    Roth mit seiner tollen Darstellung hätte ich eine würdigere Partnerin vergönnt!
