- Exclusively from our team of talented craftsmen in Japan, EVH brings you the MIJ EVH Signature Wolfgang model, which comes loaded with Eddie Van Halen’s preferred touring specs and the behemoth and versatile sound expected from an instrument bearing his name. Check it out: evhgear.com/gea...
Eddie really knew everything about a great guitar sound and quality craftsmanship for the musician. Thank goodness he was a tinkerer in Pasadena back in the 70's and 80's, and in Beverly Hills / Studio City in the 90's. He truly was a genius.
I've been playing for almost 40 years and after owning quite a few guitars (currently 22) I've got to say my EVH is only the second I've ever owned where I kept the stock pickups. I stopped at a Guitar Center while traveling through another state and had never played one but the Wolfgangs sold me immediately. For anyone on the fence I would highly recommend trying one even if you can't afford a high-end guitar. The standard is well under $800 in every color and a great instrument.
Finally. Although I won't have enough money to buy them, I am quite happy. Nice "Secrets" tunes at the intro!
I’ve got The fourth one produced, Been loving it for about a month now! Excellent instrument
Hi mate, I have a question. I got one two and I am trying to figure out if the pick-ups are the same as the one on the USA model. Do you have any idea?
@@HB-ss4en
Yes, 100%. They are the USA pick ups. And I’ve got to say they are outstanding. I have a couple of Wolfgang specials and the pick ups don’t come close in those. Don’t get me wrong. I thought those were amazing until I heard the USA pick ups in the MIJ series
@@jamesmurry8875 thanks. Good news!
@@jamesmurry8875I'm considering a pickup upgrade. Do you think it's worth it?
@@qua7771 definitely worth it. I used to think my wolf hearing special pick ups sounded great, and they do sound pretty good, but the USA pick ups are just way more refined sounding, way more articulate.
All the way back to Ed's musicman series, his line are hands down imo the best guitars on the planet. The tone cant be duplicated, and when Ed teamed up with fender, they now produce perfection as to what was already perfect. GAWD i love evh series guitars & amps 🤘
Bet they’re made better than the USA models that are 2000+ more. Still, hard to beat my 90s Peavey Wolfgang’s. Stuff was just made better and cost was affordable then
Love they’ve gone back to vintage stainless frets. Love the playability of my MIJ hardtail special.
I so much hope we will have an Hardtail version !!!!
Just unscrew the whammy bar and tighten up the springs on the back. Boom hard tail.
Can’t wait to play one! 🎸👍
If I lived closer johnny I would bring it by so you could try it. It should be at my house by this Thursday. Can't wait peace johnny. Love your channel
2.7k looks pricey but compared to just everything that gibson has pooped out for insane amount of money right now the EVH can be considered as affordable imo, cheers 🎸🎸
If you find a good sales guy, they can get it for a sweet deal.
The MIJ Wolfgang’s are some of the greatest guitars you’ll ever play though!
@@SovereignKing Alright you’ve talked me into it, I’ll buy both now. 😆
@@1DerekMiracle Do it!😂
@@SovereignKing Sounds like a challenge to me.
you guys need to make an extended version of the EVH Wolfgang adding an inch of length. For taller guys they look very small visually.
I love the design and the sound but it's weird for me.
think about it ... ;)
is that Matthew McConaughey....Got mine yesterday in Ivory 🤘
Frankie's killin' it on the demo tune! Hey Matt - will we see some more MIJ offerings in other finishes like the 3-tone burst flame top?
Where can I hear more of his music?
Ordered mine two months ago here in the UK but from Thomann. I have been told I will get mine next July😂
Ahhh man, ordered a Stealth for UK a couple of weeks ago and due September from Peach Guitars. Hopefully yours speeds up!
Neither of you will be disappointed, but next July 2024?! That's a bit of a wait 😂
Love it but only thing I'd want is more of a standard style strap lockers. I added the eye hooks to my strat years ago to "be more like Eddie" lol but found that while super secure, they produced a lot of noise that could be heard through the body in my case as well as, lets face it, they're pretty fugly lol. But man I'd love to get one of these beauties. Nice job~!
I would think it's an easy swap to change them, and after all, it is a signature model so it should be the same as Ed's rig. But like you, I plan on changing them out because I see them possibly messing up the finish.
Everything EVH is great but those USA EVH wolfgang guitars are heavy as two les Paul's..still a amazing guitar!!!!
Like the ivory one looks killer ✌️
You can depend on Japan made quality. Their attention to detail is superior.
I agree.
Yep. Given the choice, I’d take MIJ over MIA every time.
I preordered one of these a few months ago and it’s expected to arrive this month. I’ve heard about all the production issues with EVH/Fender in Corona in the past few years and I wasn’t going to pay 4500 for that mess. I can’t wait to get my MIJ Wolfgang Sig!!!!
You did good. I was one that got 2 bad USA models
@@HB-ss4enThats bummer for all the money but you are not alone. Unfortunately I've read a lot about people on the gear page forum saying the same thing as you. It's a shame.
Nice solo Frankie!!
Thank you EVH RIP
I was hoping EVH would add the Forearm Contour from the cheap Wolfgangs.....to these new MIJ models. A deal breaker for me. But first things first I guess. That contour makes these guitars way more comfortable. Coming from FGN.....quality should be aces.
Why no videos yet about all the new releases for 2023, especially for the unstriped Frankenstein guitarist? We would love to see actual video of them being played.
I bought the American version used and its definitely worth the $2,900 I paid for it.
I agree it's worth 2900 but not the 4500 new price.
Killin it frankie!
I love these guitars . However the one feature I’d rather was different was the selector switch location .
I have a 2010 MIJ Special that I’d die for lol. These are pricey, but I love me some MIJ Fender.
That’s what I was about to comment. In the beginning of the Fender era, all of the Wolfgang Specials were made in Japan. Got me one too back then! I got the black Special.
@@JT-yz4rj Got mine in early 2021, but got the same one! I’d love to grab the Tobacco Sunburst and Vintage White ones too someday.
@@baybae92 I bought a MIJ Tobacco Burst in 2012 and still love that guitar. Installed a treble bleed circuit and brass block and the thing just sings.
Looking forward to the delivery of a Purple Burst Special tomorrow.
Can we get hardtail wolfgangs in the future please!!
that track sounds sick! Based off of Secrets? I'm trying to learn it lol
MIJ! 誇らしい❤
Oh man.... gotta get me a black version.
I Pre-Ordered mine 3 months ago!🤘🏽 So fcking hyped!
sick ass guitars!!!!
Love mine!
Finally ❤️❤️❤️
I ordered in February. I'm waitning for my IVORY one like Africans in the dry season for rain. Thanks EVH. It's interesting that the pickups in the video look like American ones, and in the photos of the store they look like import ones. Trust me im expert 😉🙌 Additionally, Ivory has silver keys in the video. These are the two differences that my eye caught. Cheers to everyone waiting for delivery.
💙🌍❤️
If you find out please let me know. I have one and trying to figure out which pick Ups these are. How do you distinguish one from the other?
@@HB-ss4en Officially, EVH says that pickups are made according to the same pattern in all versions, but I compared the Zebra version from the Mexican EVH with the Japanese Zebra, which had pickups made in the USA, and there were differences. The rear of the import pickups have stickers and are gold, and the front is that part of the metal on the white plastic that's concave. In USA pickups there are no stickers on the back, they are heavily greased with wax and the metal parts on the white plastic are protruding. In the sound, you see more clarity, attack and mid frequencies in the USA. They are more crystalline and clear. I am curious myself how it relates to the new version of the MIJ, because they look like the Import version, but maybe they have opened a new production line and components - despite their appearance, they will sound like those from the USA. In addition, the MIJ Signature version has an AL3 under the neck. Oh, there is one more difference based on which I can see it right away in the pictures. The part of the pickups that is adjustable, these bolts are set in the US version, and in the import version, all the bolts are in a straight line.
@@duclimer thanks for the Feedback. The new USA signature has also Alnico III. But your last point is spot on. My USA had raised magnets whereas the MiJ doesn't. I am disappointed but not so surprised. They needed to be a difference between the USA and MIJ otherwise I couldn't explain the price difference.
One more question. The wolfgang Pick-ups that are sold separately (which cost around 170$) , are those imports?
@@HB-ss4en Usa
That boi, Matt Brown 😊
So I’m not the only one with the crush? 😂
I ordered mine 2 months ago and it is shipping on Monday and I should have it in my hands by next Thursday. I can't wait. Thanks Riley@sweetwater
I also ordered about 2 months ago. What is your expected arrival?
@@ohplezz that's too funny. Believe it or not it just got dropped off today. I got the ivory one. It's beautiful, it plays amazing. I love it
@@christerrio8108how’s the setup from the factory?
@@sunsgettingreallow8318 it was perfect
I just got mine ! Feel free to ask any question :)
Did you get Evh ivory? If you did are the tuning pegs pearl white?
4:03
Why is nobody commenting about the ivory having stainless steel tuning pegs when on ALL the media photos (save for this video!) it has pearloid tuning pegs??! That would annoy me and might make me buy the stealth
@@skipcool5317 I noticed the same. I wanted to buy Evh Ivory. If the pegs are crome that's a cheap trick from Evh. It's a deal breaker for me. Somebody on this site put a few pics of Evh Ivory mij and the tuning pegs are pearl. So i don't know what the F... is going on.
The original Wolfgang specials were MIJ and $999, lasted 2 years and ya'll closed the factory. Happy I still have mine.
I’m still waiting for the Custom to make a comeback! I’d settle for a stealth with a block inlay ebony neck!
@@isaiahmarquez9717I’m wondering if that’s their end goal.
What Japanese factory is producing these? FGN?
Fujigen
When will those begin to ship? In Germany they are still on preorder.
Can someone speak to the feel design differences from EV original Franken Strats , Musicman etc to this newest iteration by them? What is the difference and how have they changed generationally? I ask as Ive have never held one. TKS
Finally.
Yet how will they stack up to 2010
The guitar that i will never get i have had this guitar on pre order sick of waiting for it to come back in stock
How about a tunamatic version?
I wish they would add those back to the lineup. There was Japanese made one about 10 years ago and a Mexican made about 5 years that was black with a maple fretboard, it had all black hardware, cream binding, and the zebra pickups. I messed up and didn’t buy either one when they were new, and now I can’t find one at all.
Would love one in prussian blue.
Pricey but a stunning workhorse
Question for anyone, is the body any bigger than the Wolfie Standards? I tried one of those. Great playing guitar, fantastic neck and playability but it looked like a mini guitar. It was so tiny.
I know EVH liked the reverse oriented toggle switch, but never heard why he liked it that way. It would mess me up as a long time les paul guy lol. Id have to flip the switch
Eddie liked the toggle flipped cause when he would do his 2 handed hammer-ons he would knock the switch up with his arm accidentally. Flipping it fixed the problem. I’ve played Wolfgangs since the 90s and now the Les Paul way feels wrong lol
@@MetalKillsRap2 that was the exact reason I guessed he might prefer it that way but never knew for sure. Thanks for the reply.
@@rybones1311 It took me a minute to get used to, but I actually prefer the way he has it now because of the tapping thing. I didn't do much tapping before getting a Wolfgang lol.
Can we also have a 5150III EL34s 50w to go with it?
Are there any differences between these and the US models?
Quality control is likely to be better on these.
Does the MIJ sport the USA pickups. I know the special and the standard pickups are made in Asia and not the California factory.
I don't think it has the USA made pickups but also not the wolfgang special pickups
What amp are you using?
Where do you go to learn to play van Halen?
My mij Wolfgang plays much better than my USA and Indonesia ones !
Why is nobody commenting about the ivory having stainless steel tuning pegs when on ALL the media photos (save for this video!) it has pearloid tuning pegs??! That would annoy me and might make me buy the stealth
EVHGEAR, What type of treble bleed circuit is in the guitar, what RC values?
I asked Fender a few years ago and was told a .002 capacitor and 100K resistor. So that's what I installed on my 2012 Special and it works well.
@@harryspade2853 Thanks I didn't know EVH used a Treble Bleed circuit in his EVH guitars. I will have to try these Values out. Thanks for the info on it.
For about $1000 in upgrades, you could turn a $1099 stealth MIM special into a comparable rig, @ a total investment of a $2099 price point for an "upgraded" MIM special, a guy could save $700 ish. Over the MIJ, but have just about the same guitar.
Talk to me…. Aside from upgrading the Floyd, what else would you upgrade?
$2,700😮😮 dang I would have been happy shelling out $15-1800. Guess I'll settle for les Paul special p-90's
So, basically what my USA version cost when first released?
Exactly.
Yeah my flame maple natural was 2700 new
Milk that franchise! \o/
How much are these going to cost
Yeah!!!frankie!!
un jour elle sera mienne, oh oui, un jour elle sera mienne!
Impossible to get in the UK
Tell me it's not the same Floyd as found in the import versions...doesn't this deserve an original German made Floyd at this price point? Yes. Yes it does.
It's the same Floyd as the American version, which is made in Korea. Ed preferred it to the German-made one.
Hard Tail version ??
EVH what is the finish on the neck and body? Its mystery finish😂
Crazy you can already see the value to the USA model drop. No point in even looking at it when these are half the cost and the exact same guitar.
🔥🔥❤️
Hard Tail Version !!!!
Beginning of the end folks. Everything is going to be cheaper and cheaper and quality will dive bomb just like the Floyd rose on these new units. For anyone asking “how are these $2k cheaper than the USA?”….you know how….and you know how bad the rest of us got boned for getting a U.S.A. model.
Its made by FGN. Quality wont be an issue.
I can confirm quality is better than the USA model.
So, how many corners did they have to cut since covid?😂
$2.7k actually worth $800
😂
Nice guitars. I'd love to have one but I personally think that they're overpriced. I've been playing for over 40 years and own quite a few guitars. In my experience after you go over the $1000 to $1800 range on a new guitar you don't get anymore quality you are just paying more money for some kind of invisible prestige that nobody cares about. I have a Kiesel that I bought for quite a bit less and it was made in the USA. Maybe I could justify a EV made in Japan or USA if I find a good deal on a used one. I also don't know who would think those strap loops are acceptable. Just my thoughts.
Ed thought they were😊
That floyd rose looks cheap. Is it a floyd rose 1000 or an original floyd rose?
Thanks for SS frets.
The price is way over the top.
No. $4,600 for the USA version is way over the top. This is practically garage sale price.
Amazing they’ve managed to milk so many tiny variations out of the original design to charge the exorbitant fees for them all, hats off Fender 🤑
If the stealth had block inlays you could do a nice replica of the tour relic but of course no 👎
Listing every feature like they’re not on loads of other models! Heel adjust truss rod, fine tuners, quartersawn maple neck, come on 🙄
At least give a bloody bird’s eye neck, not even on the 4k US model do you get bird’s eye neck shaft. I’d love to buy one but it all stinks so bad of profiteering I might even go for the HP2 instead 😜
I’m waiting on a black stealth with the block inlays. The old “custom” is impossible to find these days.
Smart move getting a better made guitar at almost half price from Japan. My MIJ strat feels like it was made by angels and is somehow selling for more than I bought it for, so grats on all you guys picking a MIJ EVH up. Killswitch, Floyd with a D-Tuna tossed in...jeez. You spoiled nerds better play the beans out of these when they ship!
me likey
rip leftys.... again
Settle down, second-class citizen! 😂
No neck-thru and no mahogany body? No thanks.
Is it your signature guitar, or is it Edward Van Halen's?
@@gmoulder4567 Somebody once told me...
No lefties is a shame
Sorry EVH. Ibanez ruined me. I am not interested in single piece necks. If this instrument had a nice 5 piece neck, I would be all over it, but 1 piece isn't satisfactory for my money.
Missing out, dude. I own 2 of them, and you will not play on a neck as nice as this. Seriously, pick one up and try it out.
@@erasetheprocess1its all good. Some people are just style over substance 🤷♂️
This might be one of the dumbest comments I’ve ever read lol.
Quartersawn
Ibanez??? You must not have played a EVH yet.
USA manufacturing sucks. Glad the Japanese are up to the job.
Not only does he play the guitar better than my grand mother, he wear her shirt better too.
Yeah bet Meemaw has more chest hair too.
I’d buy one in a heartbeat if there was a hardtail option.
What amp are you using?
