Some losses can make you feel pretty concerned, but here the big factor was Romano imploding. Which had to happen at some point. He has been extraordinarily consistent, he had to have a bad game at some point. Clase blew a save a week ago, too. It is going to happen. No one is perfect.
I have a feeling Romano can get over it too.

These are the type of games that we need to go far in the playoffs. Hard fought games, pressure situations. You know Romano comes back pissed off and ready to pitch next time. As for Bo, the guy has been the hottest player in September, but an unlucky at-bat like that can help create a hot October for him. All-in-all, I’m not worried. Great baseball.
I don't even know if I'd say he imploded. Orioles slapped some ground balls that found holes. If they didn't hit and run with the second batter of the inning then he hits into a double play and there's nobody on with 2 outs.
I'm a Blue Jays fan but that was a great game. Very tense, very exciting at the end. I wasn't even mad when we took the L. Romano blew his save and then Bautista was sweating bullets as he almost blew his. Great baseball. This is what I imagine as a token playoff game.
Anyway, the Blue Jays have yet to not take a W in a series throughout September. This is definitely a playoff team. We brush off the loss, we move on, and we take care of business in Philly and in Tampa this week. Let's go Jays.

It'll be interesting to see the Jays and Rays battle for the first WC, providing Seattle doesn't crash the party. then again the 3rd spot maybe better than the 2nd.
@@veritasinvicta8128 Yeah man. At this point we're going to be facing either the Mariners, the Rays or the Guardians. All of them are tough. But If I had choose, I'd probably choose to face the Rays in Toronto (but not in Tampa)
@@Wilsbourne I am not sure if the Jays really have an edge at home over anyone. Gausman gets knocked around quite often at home. Berrios is been consistent lately but I would start Stripling and Manoha in a 3 game series at home.
@@aldovera3789 True the Jays don't really have a big edge at home but at the very least, the Rays definitely have an edge against us at the Trop. So I'd like to avoid going to the Trop for the WC series at the least.
And yes Monoah and Stripling are definitely our most reliable guys right now
The series between these two teams have been nothing but action. If you are looking for a good game with some tension you got one more series you can go and witness.
As a Jays fan, both teams played 110 percent best. But, somebody had to win!

No, this didn't fall into that category of someone had to win. It was the Jays game all game long. It wasn't a tied affair going to the end. It's a blown loss that could be costly if the Jays lose in Philadelphia and get historically demolished in Tampa. Because then they'll limp home to , again, historically lose to the Yankees and managed only a couple of wins against the Red Sox and wind up in Baltimore clinging to a playoff spot.

@Brian Mug It's called de Grom syndrome. No offensive support and pn blowing games when an ace pitches. Cole should have a few more wins than he does but Manoah has had a better year, one of the best in the AL.
@Brian Mug was thinking that, the Jays have actually won alot of Manoah's starts but those wins have gone to the bullpen.

Total choke by the 'pen. It's ok we're in pretty good shape. Barring a total meltdown the Jays are in the playoffs. I look at it like this. If the Jays play .500 ball the rest of the way the O's have to go 15-2. The White Sox have to go undefeated.
Plus the O's have to play 4 against Astros n 3 against yankees

The Jays need to finish 4th or above though. Otherwise they will have 3 away games. I just found that out!!! The 3 & 4 teams have home field for the entire 3 game wild card series!!!

Adly Rutschman must be the rookie of the year, there’s no doubt about it, amazing job by Bautista, incredible how he disposed it of Bo Bichette who’s being terrific lately. Credit to Mateo and Santander too.
O's had some impressive defensive plays. A triple play, diving catches, and huge stops by their pitching. Can't be too upset with the Jay's losing this one when they had clinched the series win, AND were mounting a comeback over a very rare Romano 9th inning. What a great series to watch (just NOT on Apple TV).
Let's go Blue Jay's ! My Brewers helped you out by taking 2 of 3 from the Yankees. Earlier in the year I said the Blue Jay's would win it all. I still believe they have the guys to do it.

Hilariously 1st half overachieving Yankees carried by 30 year old Judge having a contract season of his life are shytting bricks. Don’t matter though, even if they manage to squeak a division win you know they are more likely to be a quick out in the first AL series of any team.
Romano is still a dominant young closer with the size and make up. You have to be human. Not blowing a save since mid August was insane in a division as insane as AL East.

Tough loss for the Jays... Romano was 32 for 32 in Saves at Home before today's collapse... Then the Orioles closer Bautista almost coughed up a 2 run Save but squeaked it out as Baltimore hung on for life and got the 5-4 win.. The Home Plate Umpire sure did everything he could to help the Orioles win today...😂

I was on the edge of my seat every moment of that 9th inning. It sucked Romano blew his first save at home (when Sportsnet finally showed his intro on the broadcast too!!!) but the Jays did a good job trying to rebound in the bottom of the 9th. Great game.
The ump lost us that game in the 9th when he walked Mullins he should have struck out looking

Orioles low key looked overmatched in this series and their wildcard bid was practically over after the first 2 games. Lucky, they avoided the sweep against Romano and the hottest hitter in baseball at the plate with the winning run on base.
Gritty game played by two improving, playoff-contending teams. Blue Jays and Orioles gonna be AL East contenders for a few years ahead. Tough way for Toronto to lose with that blown save. Was nice to see Vladdy hit a digger off Dillon Tate, who has been giving Toronto fits this season. Guess it could be said that Vladdy Tatered Tate :> that time.
I feel that the Mariners' momentum (especially the hitters) is currently on the downswing and they could be in line with the Orioles at the end of September. To do so, the Orioles would have to go at least 9-3 over the next 12 games.

As a blue jays fan I thought that they had it in the game and also we can’t win them all but the boys played well
Jays fan here but great to see the Oriole’s back in the thick of things in the best division in baseball. Big upside for both of these squads and great to see them reignite the rivalry with some hard fought series so far.
I know lately many Jays fans see the Rays as our rivals in the division and they are to a degree; but for me, the “Battle of the Birds” needs to continue to be exciting like it is right now (and has been in the past) as they are the Jays’ more “natural rivals”.
As an Os fan no doubt it’s never a dull moment. I’m looking forward to seeing what 2023 brings

Im ok with the Blue Jays losing a few now, rather than peaking now and losing it in the playoffs...
They were missing Gurriel and Kirk and still took 2 of 3. Damn near swept. The coaches playing a core of like 12-13 guys helped immensely. Also 4 man rotation isn't helping but we went 2-1 in the last few 'pen starts.
