  • In this video I am completing all of the wiring for this build. Wiring is not always the most fun part of the build but is an essential component. I used the Motogadget M-unit in combination with the revival cycles wiring kit.

    Hi, I just got me a 96er Sportster already in bobber trim here in Germany and while thinking of some changes to go for, I really enjoyed your videos and I'm looking forward to see the final. Nice work and well done videos, easy to follow and no bullshit talking - straight to the point including fails.

    This is maybe the only sportster build I've seen using a M Unit I've been eyeballing them for a while but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I think i may do it this winter now after this motivation 😅

      This is my first time using a M-Unit and so far I love it. Helps keep things simple and compact while still being very customizable. Thanks for watching!

    Dude I’m building a 93 as well.. I’ve been digging for info regarding whether or not to ditch the ICM where you mounted the m unit. Originally I wanted to do this, but wasn’t sure how the programmable ignition control upgrade (mine is an accel) mounted over the cam would converse with it. Happy to Knowni can ditch that and mount the m unit there.. I guess I’ll ditch the little tray I built or mount a 40a circuit breaker there. Nice vid

    I absolutely love your series and I am glad I found it. I picked up a 93 883 and am doing almost the exact same thing. I have completely removed the harness and started on my upgrades but have on question one the M unit and new ignition system that you installed. Other than the regulator, is there any component of the old harness system that you need to keep/replace when you install these? Keep up the good work! You got me working on my build again!

      Thanks for watching! Glad to hear you are enjoying the series. I also reused the wiring for all of the sensors in/on the engine. Sounds like a fun build, good luck with it!

    Great stuff man. Question, did you get the “regular” mo.Unit harness or the mo.Unit harness “bundle”? In addition, you also got mo.Unit Blue Digital Control & Fuse Box separately correct? Working on a ‘94 1200. 🤙🏽

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  2 года назад

      Thanks! I got the regular harness kit, I don't think the bundle was an option when I was buying. Looks like the biggest difference between the two is the loom in the bundle. Yes, in addition to the wiring I bough the mo.unit blue. I have the links to the harness and mo.unit I bought in the description. Good luck with the bike!

    Hey, like your build! Doing an '86 883 bobber build now with a 1275 kit. Wondering if you have considered using a GPS/phone speedo? Have used it on a couple bikes and works great for me. Eliminates a lot of the clutter you get with a cable drive speedo and simpler and cheaper than an aftermarket digital.

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  2 года назад

      Sounds like an awesome build! I considered using my phone for the speedometer but I am always afraid of relying on the phone too much incase it dies or breaks for some reason. Have you had any issues like that yet or has it worked out?
      I agree with the aftermarket digital though, too expensive to be worth it (at least for me). Thanks for watching!

    Do you know if it matters to use copper core plug wires? Got a kit with suppressor wires and I'm hesitant to put them on.

    Thanks for making these vids! When you installed the new ignition switch, did you delete the start/stop and kill switches? I know the M-unit has some cool work arounds, just wondering if you got rid of those 2 switches completely. Thanks!

    • @cheesingarage
      @cheesingarage  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching! I did eliminated the stock switches for these. Using the 4 button setup on the Munit, the kill switch is now hitting the right turn signal and headlight switch simultaneously and the left turn signal and light switch is the start.

    Hello!
    Where did you get the manual that you are using as a wire diagram? I need one for my 2006 883

    • @cheesingarage

      It is the Clymer manual, there is a like to the manual you're looking for in the description. Thanks for watching!
