Here's the tape I use btw (if you're actually interested lol): geni.us/7RIMiDb
Why are there no replies 😂
😂 noice ...
BRO ITS 15 BUCKS is there any cheaper options?
Lol
I just did 5 layers, and it sounds SO GOOD! took a little work to get it unstuck though.
its sounds ok just a lil mushy
The tape mod on space bar
@@cookingwithnic doubt you even have a keyboard. let alone a good one
@@orphancrushr ye like you also would have one thats even good
@@orphancrushrur prob just mad its not even u
I think the stabs need more work than the space bar itself.
Would be interested to see what this sound differences is after the stabs have been tuned
Ahahah yeah its true 😂
No duh the stabilizer need work
This. It's a Keychron keyboard issue. As you pointed out, the stabilizer.
@@thirtyacres7504But the spacebar also does not help, as I sit here using the stock Keychron keycaps waiting for a replacement set to come
this reminds me of how the fighting game community would dampen joystick buttons by putting a little bit of cotton in between the button and the switch. It was a common practice that players would listen to each other's button presses so they can anticipate certain attacks. This is kind of similar, lol
hey not a big deal or anything but you did use the word "the" twice in your first sentence.
have a wonderful day!
@@guccicody3647 fixed :)
The fighting game community is on a different level. I could never
@@guccicody3647 nobody cares
Exactly, except the opponent is your mom, and your desperately trying not to wake her up while you’re playing Fortnite.
At this point we might as well put foam and tape into literally anything in the keyboard, and it will sound good.
I literally use the top packing foam from my Keychron V3 as a mat, and it sounds fricking amazing.
Lol😂😂
please try this
I have v1 just tried it makes it so good
@@petercoates2056 yeah my 1 keyboard broke last night. atleast i have my brothers
Hear me out do you know this foam on a can that expands once apllied? Fill the whole keyboard with it. Nothing will be more thocky than that :D
foam tape works really well in dampening out the spacebar as well with the added benefit of using it inside hollow cases
I couldn’t help but notice that the “V” key is where the “C” key is supposed to be
lol i made my numbers go backwards and my wasd goes dwas now
I use car soundproofing mats. I got a layer at the bottom of the case too. But it also works great inside the spacebar to take out the high pitched sound.
I ended up cutting some thin packaging foam and fitting it inside carefully. I used two layers and it sounds a lot better now. I may try one layer of tape together with the foam; was just worried about the inside getting sticky lol
I had some adhesive gasket foam from my gmmk pro left over and used it for this mod and for other larger keys. Worked great
ohhhh i have some left
i gotta try this assap
When I was 14 I tried to fill an ABS keycap on a cheap "gaming" keyboard with hot glue and it melted 💀
So yeah this or silicone is a great alternative
lmaoooo i bet it mustve deformed
Try using tape first as a barrier and fill it with hot glue
Seems to be common with Keychron keyboards. I had a Keychron K6 Pro. After swapping to different switches, it still had the hollow sound. I am now using a Gamakey TK75 with the same Pegasus switches, and it has zero hollow sound out of the box.
I used one of those thick gel like double sided tape (the kind you can tape a rug in place) and stacked them in my space bar and now it sounds sooo good. Deep and not hollow at all
There is a change in the sound for sure. Better or worse - a matter of preference. I would suggest to you trying kilmat (or other sound dampener for cars). It makes a huge difference especially with the tall profiles like SA, OSA, MT3 etc.
Two layers of tape improves the sound a lot - well done!
I cut out multiple strips to fill the cavities in order to take as much hollowness out of it as possible, does make a difference!
I used a silicone glue in my large keys. It worked wonders. It worked so well I am thinking about doing it to all keys.
I just tried doing 4 layers of it and it sould so good. Although now the button press is almost like theres a pillow under my spacebar. If I press it light it barely makes a sound. I would recommend 3 layers, 4 was a little too much but 3 I think is the perfect amount
edit: I pressed down the tape a little bit and now it is better. 4 is fine if you make sure there are ZERO air bubbles, even a small one can make the spacebar sluggish or too quiet
it works on my keyboard, and it sounds heaven
DEFINITELY can tell the difference! getting my blue tape right now!! lol
I just did this for both my keyboards that have a loud space bar, so nice and quiet now.
The huge empty space between stabilizers and switch is what make space bar sound like that. Filling those empty spaces will make it sound a lot better. Multi layers of tape works, but I'm going with foam and tape for my build.
IT SOUND WAY BETTER THEN BEFORE🎉
You're doing Gods work! Thank You!
I did a layer of electrical tape on my keyboard at work and it helped a lot
Somebody gotta make some keycaps that's not hollow on the inside.
NuPhy
put some epoxy resin in 'em :) stuff is pretty cheap
Always remember to keep it under your switch actuation force.
orrr just don't get ginormous ugly long keycaps
@@imgonnacreamso you don't have a space bar 🧐🤨?
I just filled mine with that "air dry clay foam" stuff, works a treat. For some reason the keycaps are super loud, I'll have to fill the board with foam as well!
Tip : If you got a backlight/glow through key then use clear hot glue and fill the key, don't forget to keep space for stems. Try it :) IT WILL THOCK
2 layers actual sounds pretty dope, at least on that board!
Cool! Definitely gonna try this out with a couple layers of tape.
The foam inserts you can get sound great too.
My favourite fixes for this:
A - some good stab tuning (take your time, try it and retry until they sound smoooth. File down the stab housing if needed, use holee mod if you want, or just jam that shit up with dialectric grease)
B - place one or two layers of electrical tape between the two screw inserts for the stabs (where the stab housing contacts the plate)
C - Gum up the spacebar with either silicone putty ear plugs (or something similar) or cut some spare Strips of thickish noise dampening foam out and stick them inside
D - If all this hasnt helped you can either try straightening out your stab wire or placing some band aid or E-tape down where the stab wire makes plate contact to soften the noise a bit more
What is stab❓I'm new to the whole keyboard and modding community 😮
@@ShottFPS stabiliser. They're the things that help large keys maintain a smooth up-down motion (eg space bar, back space etc...)
They're also probably the most time consuming part of a keyboard to tune
@@oliverpower138 ohh I know stabiliser. Didn't knew the lingo for it. I'm noob lol 😆
The white runny paper glue sounds really good )
i'm applying this, let's see the change
I stick EVA foam under the spacebar usually.
needs a cleaner application to reduce the "mushy" feel but 10/10 mod
tysm helped me alot
thank you so much this helped make my spacebar sound so much better
Glad it helped!
Hey I’ve done this!! I didn’t know that other people did it. I actually used thin strips on all my keycaps and it sounded great
Totally gonna try this
How have I not seen this before? Thanks to the person on the internet that posted it and you. 😂
ye it sounds so much better with the tape mod. i am going to use the mod on my keyboard
eventually there will be a keyboard only made of tape 😂
I put foam and the springs from a membrane space bar.. I'm in love but now this tape must get added😊 😂😂😂
I used this in conjunction with the other tape mod on my G610 since I can't bring myself to buy a custom keyboard just yet... It's no $300 keyboard, but at least it sounds much better with minimal effort and supplies lying around the house.
That space bar sounds beautiful with the 1 and 2 layers of tape.
thanks!
No prob
I did three layers and it’s all ready sounding better:0
I love me the sound of deeper spacebars
taking out all my spacebars now 😄
very thin layer of playdoh or poly clay can also work just make sure to not accidentally stuff it in the holes where switch supposed to hold it
(not sure how well it’s gonna hold up for very long periods of time but it works well a thin layer of playdoh makes it sound really deep)
100% sounds better
thank you sooo much
I did this similar kinda hack where i used double sided table to fill the space bar it worked well too
Amazing tip, now all the keys on my keychron pro k8 sound equal
Wow the change
Try using a layer of foam with some blue tack, did it to mine and it sounds, got tier.
Cant wait for switch n family
What made a huge difference for my q1 spacebar was actually hand lubing the switch. Most of the clack comes from the upstroke of the switch, dampening this collision itself negates the need of doing anything to the spacebar
Sounds a little bit better
wow~ i actually want to do this to my v1 when it arrive...
ITriedPutting8LayersOfThisTapeAndISwearItWorksGreat!!ThanksForTheTip!:)
You know an even easier way? I put little bits of polymer clay in the space bar and some of the other larger keys. Makes them sound like a bass drum.
2 layers sounds good
I like hollow keyboards they are so satisfying
I stuffed mine with clay and it sounds great
sooo nice and cream for my keyboard
Two definitely sounds better
i use sound dampening adhesive - its a removable putty like material which can be moulded like play-doh
It works on my keychron k2 pro with three layers
I do mine with 3M double sided tape. Just as good!
Hi I’m a big fan
I liked 1 layer I think, dampened but not dead sounding
im trying this right now
Not for me
Tried it myself it's night and day, definitely thockier.
Shouldn't go more than 2 layer though
Try mounting putty. I use it in ALL of my keyboards.
I have a keychron, I had the same problem so I put like thumb tack stuff in the space bar and stabilizer keys but you really have to push it in so it doesn’t block anything on the way down works good tho
The reason you're getting that rattle has little to nothing in relation to your actual space bar. It's the stabilizers. Lube them. There's other more complex hacks too. But if you've never done anything like it, then grab some dielectric grease, put a moderate amount on your stabilizers. Get it in there as best you can. It will sound better.
Shit.... I just realized this was one of your videos........ It was satire. Sorry. High.... over my head....
@@darthollpheist1156 LOL
@@Bakashi Got that did you?
i just used 2 layers and some foam and it sounds creammmmm
Yep it sound clacky when it doesnt have tape then 1st to 2nd tape it becomes thockier and thockier when more layers
Works better on my space bar and still works fine.
Ty😊
I wonder if it works with the other key caps 🤔
Tbh I prefer 1 layer and rarely 2 unless I really want to dampen it more
2 layers are best. ❤
I taped my spacebar down. And wrapped the whole keyboard in a towel. Now … can barely hear if. Sounds great
I actually did that on my Apex pro mini Omnipoint 2.0 [LCTR] Because it would unregister if pressed/held all the way down.. the key switches are not Hot swappable /: but makes it so My key never completely goes down and now it’s fixed! Used duct tape though 😎
2 are awesome
you should try rolling small pieces of tape backwards so that they stick to the inside.
my personal way is two layers of packaging foam because that's easier to switch out when switching up keycaps wondering how good it would sound if i combine that with the tape
it makes a big difference and i prefer 2 layers of tape
I actually let the gunk build up under my keys and it sounds pretty sweet now 🤗
nice, but gross
All the layers! Moar!
Gonna do it for my custom 60%...
Hot glue!! Fr
" I found this on the inter- *NYET* "
Yes to make it sound less hollow make it less hollow
I like using window insulation foam tape from hardwarestore
2 layers sound amazing compared to 1 or none.
1 layer was a huge improvement but 2 layers was my favorite
1%good but put like 5 or 6 layers on and it would be soooo much better ❤
I did was less nice looking version of this one day, thought I was a fucking GENIUS
