Oh dear, so many errors in this report. MA became a fashion queen because she could not have children for 7+ years? Overstated. Her patronage was extensive and varied, but her greatest passion was for music, and at the king's behest she took up the role of musical director at court and thereby transformed the programming at Versailles.

Fascinating! Marie-Antoinette is an intriguing figure in history.

@@tiffanylocus251 Apparently, according to the very little I've read, from convulsions potentially related to tuberculosis.
Ironically, the painting used in the piece meant to illustrate the queen and her children, is one in which her brother is pointing to the dead baby princess's emptycradle. The infant died while the painting being completed, but because the work was in progress there are several lovely little portraits of her. From the very little I've read, it seems little Madame Sophie might have had tuberculosis.

interesting they didn't include Marie's private village, which has also been restored recently, Le Petit Trianon and her village were her real escape from prying eyes at Versailles.

Some of the original furniture is located in Ardmore, Oklahoma!!! The public library had a woman who bequeathed original furniture from Versailles along with Marie Antoinette’s Court Dolls to them. They don’t have money to keep the doll’s original fabrics from disintegrating…the dolls are dressed in fabric remnants from the queen’s own dresses created for her. It’s very sad! The dolls were almost stolen too. All the furniture and the dolls should be returned to Versailles!

Also, Her Majesty never said the infamous sentence about the poor: " let them eat cake", which sadly now is still often believed by many.
That is indeed true, that she never said that! She did a lot to help the poor people of France!

Last queen was Maria Amalia of Bourbon-Two Sicilies who was the wife of Louis Philippe I. Also she was the niece of Marie Antoinette.

@@robertho4337 After the French Revolution, there was the rise of Napoleon as Emperor. Then the House of Bourbon under Louis XVIII and Charles X. Then the House of Orleans under Louis Philippe I. Then the House of Bonaparte under Emperor Napoleon III.

I know what you mean but, technically, CBS is right : Marie-Antoinette was the last queen styled "Queen of France". After the Revolution, Louis-Philippe's wife was just styled "Queen of the French" 🙂
Actually she was - the only queen that came after Marie Antoinette was Marie Amélie, wife of King Louis Philippe (1830-1848) , and she was Queen of the French - small detail but still.
They have not been able to thier facts straight about anything.

I saw a recent story about King Charles attending an event where grocery stores were donating food to the homeless that would normally be thrown out. Seriously, a billionaire being praised for giving garbage to poor people to eat.

The last queen of France was not Marie Antoinette: it is either Marie Amalia of the Two Sicilies, consort of Louis Philippe, Marie Antoinette's niece and known as Queen of the French; or, it is by some considered to be Marie Therese, Madame Royale, Duchess of Angoulême, Antoinette's daughter, briefly queen between her father-in-law Charles X's abdication and that of her husband.
Curiously Napoleon's second empress, Marie Louise of Austria, was a great niece of Antoinette's.

@@handanozdemir9255 No, she was not the last queen; see above. There were certainly three empresses (Josephine, Marie Therese, and Eugenie) but also these two subsequent queens.
This interview and representation of MA was a total FLOP!
What became of her children?
The heir was mistreated in jail by his guardian who beat him up any chance he got and eventually died around 10. Their daughter survived but had to run away from France for a while, she came back later on. She's the only child who reached adulthood. Their other sibling died in infancy before the revolution.

This is just awful propaganda. That woman contributed heavily to a system that marginalized the French people. Her aristocratic snobbery didn't help either.

Correction. Versailles was home to only three monarchs of the ancient regime, namely, Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI. Before Versailles, it was the Fontainebleau palace that was the traditional home of France's many kings. Napoleon, who was not royal, declared himself emperor after the revolution and while used Versailles, was more at home in the Fontainebleau palace.

She didn't actually mean 'let them eat cake' as an insult to the people. It was merely a suggestion for them to be given food. Mom and I visited Versailles and we heard a schoolgirl say 'Viva La Reine.' We are distant relations.

Although it is interesting to see the renovated private apartments of Queen Marie Antoinette at Versailles, this story contains an unfortunate error that could have been avoided by even superficial research. Marie Antoinette was not the last Queen of France. The last Queen of France was Maria Amalia Teresa of Naples and Sicily (1782 - 1866) as the wife and consort of King Louis Philippe who ruled from 1830 - 1848.
The reporter while clarifying that Marie Antoinette did not utter the regrettable phrase “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche”-“Let them eat cake” in 1789 tends to perpetuate the calumny by even raising the issue. It is time now to stop mentioning this fabrication which seems to be the only thing everyone knows about the unfortunate Queen.
As the Queen's biographer, Lady Antonia Fraser, has pointed out the phrase in somewhat different form but with the same meaning had been floating around long before Marie Antoinette became Queen of France. Indeed, it was originally attributed to María Teresa of Austria (1638 - 1683) who was Queen of France from 1660 to 1683 as the wife and consort of King Louis XIV. She allegedly suggested that the French people eat “la croûte de pâté” (or the crust of the pâté). A similar phrase was later attributed to two of the elderly aunts of King Louis XVI.
No one in this piece stated that MA was the last queen of France.
Anyways they have the years of their reign wrong! It was in the 1400's. They had 2 children and son and a daughter. There 2 children escaped to the Caribbean with Noahstradamus and Columbus who in time impregnated their daughter to have 2 sons. They got to meet Zeus who came up from under the sea to speak with Noahstradamus who was Lucifer/Hades his supposed brother. She (Marie) invented what is now the modelling world with her lust for fashion and all. So, besides the years much of what the curator has said may be true. Trust me I know the truth, no further comments.

This is quite fascinating. I consider the private quarters of Marie Antoinette to be my primary Home Decor inspiration ever since I purchased my own Home. The elegance, overt femininity, and ornate qualities appeal to my taste, profoundly. 🪞
