Hmm... let me check. >warms up IBM G70 CRT >fullscreens video Yup, the 4:3 aspect ratio is real. All the more reason to believe it was filmed on VHS. Good Job.
So you placed the phone on top of the right speaker to prove this is not just a video of a reel-to-reel tape playing in 1996 while the audio is edited. Nice one.
I am incredibly sorry to tell you, but, that thing on the top of the speaker is what you youngins call a smartphone was back in the day. It's called a palmpad. It's a real device, not fake. Only difference to it is it doesn't connect to the internet in the same way and there is no cellular calling method. You're probably just too young to know what it was so I won't blame you. The audio in the video above is in no way, shape or form edited. It's not hard to record music to tape, and I'm not even sure what the palmpad has to do with the audio seeming like it was edited or not.
@@mraiwa1000 Ok so what I meant to say seems to have been very misunderstood and I get it, as I was reading my comment I had no idea what the actual fuck I was trying to say. After watching the video and thinking for literally 2 days I understand what I was trying to express, and I failed miserably. I was trying to be impish at the same time but I honestly thought that was a smartphone, and it was a touch that proved that the audio was NOT edited into a random 1996 recording of a reel tape playing from somewhere random in the internet, and was a real tape... However now that you say it isn't a smartphone I do wonder.... (Just messing with you buddy)
@@carahai9270 Ok this was completely misunderstood. Nothing is edited, it's an actual VHS recorder you can set the time and date to anything, c'mon..... Maybe I was high as fuck when I wrote that comment I dunno. What I was trying to say, in a legit compliment to what I thought was carefully placed easter egg, that which looked like a smartphone was a nice touch to prove that it was actual real audio on that tape recorded recently and not someone that grabbed a random recording of someone recording their tape playing and then edited the audio into the video. Was that clear?
thank you for this. (I'm sure some super nerd is going to recognize the camera you're using based on the time stamp font, and I want to thank that person ahead of time for sharing what knowledge they know)
@@robertchapman2174 You can can't change the date after a tape has been recorded, since it's recorded on the tape. You'd have to make those changes before you started recording.
Am I the only one who remembers a nursery song with a similar melody to the 3:59-4:00 mark? I was in headstart in 1999 btw if that helps). I've been searching for years for that particular nursery song.
Your VHS tape seems to be a bit worn out too, that horizontal noise doesn't look too good :) And in the end it sounds like someone just flipped the tape speed from 7 1/2 to 3 3/4, heh

This information is incorrect. I assume you haven't been around analog much, nor experienced it. Great quality tape, and recording equipment can lead to great results. It all just relies on the knowledge of the one who is recording. Tape can sound like shit, or it can sound better than your fancy online streaming or CD's. I have never experienced distortion in analog unless the volume in which the audio was recorded in was set past a recommended setting that if avoided, would cause distortion. Then again, not enough volume and then you have hiss. Now onto the quality of the tape in the above video. This tape has been played many, many times over the years which has caused it to lose most of it's momentum. It cracks, pops, channels go in and out on it, and overall just doesn't sound as good as it used to. I thought a tape in this condition would be the perfect contestant to record this music on since it just adds more to the "vaporwave aesthetic" that most producers try to replicate digitally. It probably doesn't help any that it is a lower end Ampex brand of tape.. Keep in mind the audio and video was captured on an old Magnavox VHS camcorder which only records in mono. Not like it is affecting audio in any way; it sounds just as bad as it does in person. So to correct your comment, yes, the tape really is worn out, and no, analog isn't that bad and can only have distortion if you make it out to be. (i didn't)

The audio is certainly edited coz this is a remix slowmo of another song...and this edited vaporwave song was certainly not released in 1996 lol
