Thank you so much for posting this... I’ve always wanted one, but I never wanted to pay so much for it and unfortunately my dad passed when I was 9 so I don’t have a male figure in my life to figure these things out with me. Sorry for the long explanation, just know I’m extremely thankful 🙏🏻♥️

Wow! Amazing job papa pappas! The vanity mirror looks so expensive and beautiful! You should try to sell online and i believe you'll be awesome! Lucky steph for having smart and wonderfull dad just like you! ❤️
He was the reason I have a vanity mirror just like this 🥹 I miss seeing his face and his videos. If you’re reading this Steph or Mama Pappas, I hope you are doing well or as best you can during this hard time. Take care of yourselves 💗
Yeah, I built one for my daughter using melamine boards for ease of cleanup because of the makeup and all. Also I didn't want to have to primer and paint to avoid blemishes. I used mitered corners to create a more a box frame for a m finished clean look. I used light bars because i didn't want deal with drilling each hole for the sockets. I installed a dimmer switch and a outlet with USB ports also on the side of the box frame for a cleaner look up front. I also used a Kreg pocket hole jig. That is an awesome tool to add to your toolbox if you work with wood. Mine cost like around $300 though because of the materials I used. I give you credit for making it from scratch. I've seen a lot of videos of different people with different ways of building their own vanity mirror and I give them credit and creativity and doing with what they have or can afford. The only thoughts I have really are that they really pay great detail and research on the wiring part on what guage wires to use, proper connections, proper grounding and proper power cord to use. Mist people just by a two wire extension cord and cut off the the end with the plug side and then splice that into their mirror. Those wires aren't meant to be used for that purpose and also when people use the light bars or try to add an electrical outlet also they usually just wire the hot and neutral wires and ignore the ground wire when they should be using a 14/3 power cord at instead. And my other thought is don't mount it on the wall if you can spend a few extra dollars and mount everything to a board and then you can secure it as one piece to the wall so it will be easier to move it later if you wanted to instead of having to dismantle everything and reassembling it and reduce patching up your wall. And my last thought is that when people built the mirror mounted to a board they used glue to mount the mirror. Well the problem with that is that if the mirror breaks then you will have to pretty much have to build a new one. I suggest you use mirror clips to mount the mirror to the board. That way you can replace the mirror easily if need be. My daughter's friends were bugging her to ask me if I can build one for them. I finally got my garage cleaned out and I have more room now so I am thinking about it.
This makes me want to make one lol, even though I can’t even build a desk with simple instructions but hey, I can learn right. Loved the ending too lmao 💕
Awesome instructions, came out great!! FYI the horizonal trim boards are actually 41" - whoops now I have some extra back support boards for the mirror!
Btw, great instructional video on making the vanity mirror with bulbs. Couple questions that I can't seem to get a straight answer. What gauge does the 3-prong power cord need to be? What are the rules for the power cord gauge when running 18/2 among the bulb fixtures? My DIY peers say do at least 16/3 for power cord. Not sure if that has anything to do with the wires behind the wall at the outlet. And why 18/2 and not 16/2 or 14/2 among the bulbs? I'm not an electrician but I need to understand the logic. Also, what if the fixtures come with a strand of wire already? Does it present an issue if the gauge among the bulbs is different that the onboard strands? I'm seeing some fixture have some wire built-in (i.e. no wire nuts. Your input is appreciated!
Nice job but I recommend placing a wood panel backing or some strips of boards spaced apart for structural strength for the back of the mirror instead of just using the blocks of wood along the edges only. When you apply pressure while cleaning the mirror you will be stressing it as the mirror will flex in the center especially since it is so large. It will eventually crack.
Hey so I was wondering how you wired the lamp wire in with the light fixtures. I know you showed what all the wiring looked like but I couldn’t really tell how it was wired in.
The light fixtures I used were already wired to the base of the light socket. All I had to do next was connect all the Black wires together and then all the White wires together and then route them to the power source (in my case the light switch).
Loved the bloopers hahaha😂
