Thanks for these videos. I am sure my students in my ag mech classes can use them!!
Lots of good tips in this video. Good idea, making a primer cocktail out of your remnant paints!👍
Hey Man. Cool idea maxing your bits of old paint for a base coat. I like that. Nice work on the trailer. Thanks for sharing. 🍁👍👍
Thanks for watching Andy!!
I've built a few trailers over the years and helped various friends build theirs. If I build another one, I may use that truck bed liner stuff instead of paint, at least look into it. I've watched some videos in which guys paint their vehicle with it. To me, it wouldn't be worth it on a trailer if it's way more expensive than paint, but if it's only slightly more expensive, it may be. You do great work! Props to you.
Thanks Again For Your Time
Great video Sir and you did an outstanding fabrication work on the well engineer trailer of your 👌😉 Great to have your son helping you a few more year and will be welding like his Dad 😉👌 Keep up the good family life Cheers 😉👌
Its fun to watch the boy work. He's good with the drill but not old enough for the saws yet!
@@unitedstatesofbuild4915 Trust me Sir, they all have the tendency to grow very fast 🤣😊👍Cheers !!!
Very nice project. I suppose it is ready by now. Just a few observations, if you don't mind:
1. Always use conduit for wires, mostly when they run outdoors. If something goes wrong and they get on fire, the fire will be extinguished by the lack of oxygen and the materials in the conduit.
2. Always use eyelet connectors at the end of the wires and mount all of the same potential eyelets in the same spot, if that is possible, and protect them with a layer of non-conductive grease.
3. Always use automotive heat-shrink tubing for outdoors wires. It is that tubing that has a layer of soft plastic inside that gets melted and spreads outside of the tube itself when it shrinks. This thin layer creates impermeability to almost everything.
Cheers!
Sir, that loadstar is awesome. Love the trailer build too.
Thanks 👍
Learned a lot - thanks!
Thanks for watching!!
For tool boxes , I always , would use liquid nails and cover the interior box walls with 1/2 inch CD grade plywood ! This stops ALL the metal to metal 'banging' that occurs inside and also acts as a shock absorber for all the items that bang around when trailer is being pulled !!!
Thanks for sharing your project, it shows that you've done this before.
Thanks for watching!
I like that ih more !
Those connectors are solder sleeves. I used those in the Aerospace industry many years ago.👍
Great video weĺl presented some excellent tips from cork city
Wow amazing job, I wish I knew how to weld
Excellent build!. I would not have used the terminal block and I would have housed the wire in some loom. Otherwise I like the design changes you made and love the beaver tail design.
Just finished painting my trailer last week! Havent done the wiring yet. Ill be getting for those connectors. They seem like a nice option
Awesome, I linked in the description. How'd the painting go?
UnitedStatesofBuild painting went well. Some flash rusting in thinner spots so ill do another coat. I used those connectors and they worked really nicely
Awesome to hear. Next is the deck?
UnitedStatesofBuild i welded in some expanded metal mesh with more joists for support. And painted it all black. When i haul dirt i can tarp the deck and wont loose my load
I'm pretty sure a hair dryer would do the job for the shrink wraps because my cousin used one to take off the back of his S9+ to put in a new camera
Have watched all of this build, GREAT JOB. Love the attention to detail. I do have a question, why did you choose to build the bed frame with the back of the channel on the inside?
I ran it that way so the chain pockets and crossmembers would have a flat surface on the inside of the frame. It also allows a hook to be attached anywhere along the side of the trailer. And lastly with the light plates slightly set back in the channel they dont get bumped, scraped off or damaged. Thanks for the comment!!
That old dodge got a big international harvester engine?
Its an International truck with a big gas v8

Nice build 'cept them taillights will be broken pretty quick
Great job! I like the way you changed the design and yet it looks and works as if it was originally designed as is! How much time have you put in that project? I'd like to make one on a smaller scale. Do you have an idea of the weight? Thanks!
I spent a lot of afternoons and evenings on it. Its one of those projects that wouldve only taken a week if I could have worked on it nonstop but when you only get a few hrs here and there it adds to the duration. I was estimating it at 3400-3900lbs. What do you think it weighs Joe?
That is hard to say. Sometimes, stuff appears bigger on camera. Your guess makes sense.
Would the wire block be better protected inside the gang box?
Awesome video as always. Question, is there no chemical difference between a "primer" paint and a "top coat" paint (re: rustoleum)?
The real difference is oxides, beyond that youd probably need to ask a chemist😉. I havent ever had any type of negative reactions when mixing. Thanks Amy!!
Great trailer! I am building one also and is their any reason I should keep my fender up as high as you did? I’m only curios if someone can help me!
Its just a matter of suspension travel. I found out through dexer what the travel is on my particular axles and made sure I had the appropriate fender clearance
Is the trailer deck twisted some?
Dude got more paint on the floor and himself than on the trailer.
I’ve would of went with a goose neck instead of a bumper hich for a trailer that size
In an ideal world. I have a rack that I use daily
Hey man nice trailer but I will say it’s a over kill build I build trailers everyday for all kinds of stuff and this trailer is a over kill build
Do you build trailers for other people if so what would it cost to build that one that's your building the 26-footer
cant find video 2 what happened to building a deckover ?

Where did you get the plan for the trailer?
I drew it up
Won't the paint just come off if you're painting over rust? Also won't it continue to rust beneath the paint? Seems like you would need to sand blast, or sand the rust off....
The rust wasnt loose, it was wire wheeled and pressure washed beforehand. Rust needs oxygen and the paint wont allow oxygen contact. If you were concerned for a personal project you could hit it with a 'rust convertor'. Thanks for watching!!
Have you ever considered posting or selling your trailer plans and bill of materials for this trailer? If you ever do please contact me.
whats up with mr. sigar
With the way that wind was blowing, I'll bet every one of your vehicles were covered in overspray. And using that cheap accelerator it was dry as a bone before you would have a chance to clean them up.
Prevailing breeze blows toward the east, away from my cars. Observant as you are you def noticed how neatly they were all lined up, upwind, at say...the 11:00m mark? Thanks for watching John
@@unitedstatesofbuild4915 didn’t mean to sound condescending or be a troll. I’ve been doing paint and body for 37 years. Several years ago, a guy I know decided to paint his dozer outside. Needless to say he oversprayed 3 of his neighbors cars. The overspray bit into to older paint. Buffing with My harshest compound couldn’t take it off. Had to repaint all three.
That's one of those 'once of prevention' scenarios. To be honest Id be surprised if there was even a paint product left in California that was capable of that level of performance. Anyhow John I appreciate the story and thought. Happy spraying, be safe out there
Thanks for watching!!

10:09 "this type of paint will be illegal anyway" why would it be illegal? unless maybe you're in California or something lol
Thats exactly where I am, CA is where everything good comes to die....
Pretty white fence, be ashamed to get black over spray on it!
