- This video is the opposite of everything that my channel is but with the development of this situation, I had to create this video to share my experience in Easter Island (Isla De Pascua) and to remind you of some of the best ways to keep yourself safe when traveling. When in doubt, film everything.

I have heard this about Easter Island. We lived in Argentina for 3 years and most of our friends had horrible experiences on this Island. It's sad.

The damage control methods like the “fake lawsuit”, “false injury” and “extortion” claims are proof enough that you shouldn’t visit here as they are completely out of touch with tourism and staff interactions with guests.

Unfortunately these kind of places don’t award justice for right and wrong, the judge, the jailer, the police, the lawyers, the doctors too, there is no deep water, they are all family. Your frustration with lack of accountability is totally just, but don’t expect resolution.

They could've calmly shown him the ticket and the problem would be solved in 10 seconds. That's what you do in any natural park if guard asks you for a ticket...unless you really did something wrong and are afraid he will rip it...
@@myopinion2day Yes, and the ticket needs to be checked because not every ticket can be used in all parks, also, there are parks where you could visit only once per ticket, so the park ranger could very well just want to check if they are not there using invalid tickets.

Omg! I was there in 2002. There was no entry fee, there was no barrier stones. You could walk right up to the statutes. My experience was magical. Everyone was very friendly.

Your instincts and how quickly you can assess a situation and determine how to react is phenomenal. Suss’ing out he wanted to tear your tickets up and making the u-turn on the road saved a bad situation from turning into a very bad one. He was so confident about everything he did, so he’s done this before and knows he has plenty of backup.
looks like the whole dramatic experience dragged on for too long. thanks for sharing this experience- it gives us awareness that easter island could get unsafe.

As a Chilean this is so embarrassing, I’m really sorry this happened to you. I visited Easter Island in April 2019, and during that time they had an issue among the two groups in the Island the parks were technically free entrance “ HOWEVER” at the park entrance you had the opposite group charging. I truly believe this guy wanted to destroy your ticket. I have heard of other people just trespassing during the time of the conflict in 2019 but they were never treated this way. Calling your girlfriend an idiot is unimaginable, he definitely wanted to fight you so glad you were clever enough to avoid it. Sadly locals are not very friendly, logically there were a few exceptions of nice islanders but the friendliest people were from the continent. I hope this goes away and I thank you for making this public.

Can you not think of a few reasons why the locals aren't 'friendly' ?? I think it's pretty obvious and the natives don't owe ANYONE their hospitality.
What I learned from this upsetting story, is that the well mannered doggie walking around, showed better behavior and was calmer than the pesky park guard, while watching how he was assaulting tourists visiting Easter Island. Thank you for posting this video, now I know what place in the planet not to visit!

I need to learn that too. I grew up in area where there are fights on the street always. If third time a person like Felipe does that to me, I might punch him in the face. But pretty sure I'll be in big trouble since that's not my place.

At least when you watch news or national geographic this is what i learn from it.
The locals spot the tourists miles away and take swings however they want, ripping you off or just bad information.

When someone becomes aggressive towards you when you’re a visitor in their country, far away from your own home, just get out of there. Walk away. Don’t argue. Filipe was clearly angry & looking for a fight. Good old Felipe would’ve shut up pretty quickly if you just said, “I’m sorry you’re upset. We’re heading out now.” Be polite but firm, calmly walk to your vehicle, don’t engage and then go get breakfast and laugh about the angry weird man hanging out by the heads with his dog. Go about your trip. And FFS, don’t engage with anyone else about the incident & do not ask for comped excursions. There’s no reason this needed to be turned into such a hot steaming pile of mess
Sorry you both had that horrific experience and thanks for sharing - I rely on videos like these to make educated decisions on where and how to travel. I spent a month in Southern Chile/Patagonia and had a great experience with park rangers and tourism industry. Doubling down instead of issuing a simple apology would've spared so many people unnecessary grief.

I was watching your vids as I fell asleep and I woke up to this video playing and hearing “I need the ticket” over and over in my sleep until I finally woke up. I did and the problem happens to be in the circles of one governmental history department. By boycotting the whole island, youd also harm the innocent inhabitants making their living on tourism, such as restaurants and hotel workers.

I hate people like this, bullying a couple that’s thousands of miles away from home and no one with them, just trying to have a fun time and they do this.
If this can happen to them then it can happen to anyone going there and probably has many of times before, only difference is Christian has a voice that can be heard and a platform that can be seen by many others. I feel sorry for others that has been harassed by these bullies.
I definitely won’t be going there anymore, until they face the consequences of their actions (losing tourists) and make a change in staffing and governance of the park.

No it's not! Seriously guys, please don't say that. I am Chilean and I know Easter Island. I have travelled my whole life (more than 20 countries) and I would hate this beautiful Island to be shown as a terrible and scary place because of a bad experience. Yes the Islander was crazy, out of his place and totally deserves all the hate, but the rest of the islanders and the place has not done anything bad.

I read other comments that say for Americans to Stay Away that they don't Need Americans Dollars. So, Not everybody that Speaks English is American, so Chileans must have a Big Sign on the Park that will Say "AMERICANS ARE NOT ALLOWED" and deny Entrance to Americans and that way Felipe will Not get stressed out thinking their Visitors are Americans and He Can Relax.

You were setup when they asked you if you wanted anything. Always decline this. A refund and apology is supportable, but the rest was done on purpose to put you in this position.

Ok I will admit this was funny but honestly they (him and his wife) dealt with it totally in the wrong way. They could of apologized and even filmed that and showed the ticket at least if Felipe did indeed rip up the ticket (what he was afraid of) it would of been captured on camera instead he just fed into it and let the situation escalate. Being in a foreign land we must respect and know all the rules so stuff like this doesn't happen.
