What I remember best about this game was its wonderful sounds, from the chugging of the boat, to the shooting of the gun in stage two. Sinking the ships with your gun was very rewarding... watching them sink even more so. I loved watching the planes zooming in on your ship, until you shot them down. Yes, the graphics WERE simple, but all the better for it. One of my favourite teenhood games !
The C64 was the first computer I ever used and we got this and a bunch of other games from a co-worker of my father's. Just the disk. No instruction manual, no directions... you just had to wing it. I don't believe I ever beat the game but I was able to survive long enough playing it at 8 years old that I could get a few tanks to the final round.
And remember folks: this game was banned in Germany till 2010! 😂 (for having "aggression-increasing properties that lead to physical tension, anger, aggressiveness, mental slowness, concentration problems, headaches and other health problems." No joke.)

Wow, this is bringing back childhood memories of playing this game with my older brother!
I still have BEACH-HEAD as a tape version for my Commodore 64 😺👍🕹️.
