  • The RAF Chinook Display Team, based at RAF Odiham in Hampshire, demonstrate the RAF Chinook's capability in fantastic display at the RAF Cosford Air Show 2022.
    As well as part of the RAF Chinook Display Team, the crew are also part of a fully operational Squadron where they combine their daily training demands with practising their display sequence.
    The Chinook is an extremely capable and highly versatile support helicopter that can be operated from land bases or seaborne vessels into a range of diverse environments, from the Arctic to the desert or jungle. The aircraft may be heavily armed and is fitted with a suite of self-defence equipment allowing it to operate across highly contested battlespace. Chinooks are primarily used for trooping, resupply and battlefield casualty evacuation (casevac) but the crews are trained to accomplish these tasks under threat from both ground and air based enemies.
    With its triple-hook external load system, internal cargo winch, roller conveyor fit and large reserves of power, the aircraft can lift a wide variety of complex underslung or internal freight, including vehicles. It can carry up to 55 troops or up to approximately 10 tonnes of mixed cargo.
    Its secondary roles include search and rescue (SAR), and supporting a wide variety of specialist tasks, including the National Resilience commitment. A Chinook crew traditionally comprises two pilots and two crewmen, supplemented by specialists dependent upon mission requirements.
    I did notice the emblem of 27 Squadron on some of the aircrew. The patch that the Chinook aircrew wore had an elephant which approved by HM King Edward VIII in October 1936. The badge was based on an unofficial emblem first used in 1934 and commemorates the Squadron's first operational aircraft - the Martinsyde G100 'Elephant' - and the unit's long sojourn to India.
    Finally, please do enjoy the "RATTLER", one of the funniest moves by Ted, it will have you in stitches at 04:56

    Love the Chinooks. Got a set of footage and photos when we had a chinook over. (Landing and taking off) Only 10 minutes away from my home. I shall never forget that as long as I live. By the way, I love the background music on this video. Thank you, Ted.

    Thanks guys , my wifes' favourite ! Used to see them a lot when we lived in Mid Wales . Quite distinctive , you can hear one for 5 minutes before you see it .
    in 'Nahm the grunts called it the Sh*t -hook , because when landing , it picks up all the sh*t and whirls it around !! I love it when they do that wheelbarrow thing ! 💙💛 4:56 Ted you are funny ! Nikos did a great job on this , including the editing .

    Way back in June 2022. RAF Cosford, an Airbase I know very little about, other than being a USAFE base. Chinook display of note. Quick stop is impressive and there we go Orange Hands moment along the crowd line. Corkscrew ascent for eyes on 360° of battlefield situation. Backwards on Runway is a move
    Terrific RAF, Power and control. The noise alone would terrify you..
    June 22 watched on 4th Niv 2023.

    Was It at cosford years ago while reversing a wheel came off?

    • @TedConingsby
      @TedConingsby  2 года назад +1

      Oh yes, you are right. 2005 I think it happened. These things can happen and I’m surprised they can hold all that weight anyway. Poor wheel.

      @@TedConingsby poor wheel lol! Yeah cause the rear wheels look pretty flimsy for that weight

      @TedConingsby  2 года назад

      @@typhoon123 I found the video, and looking at it, it’s destined to happen with all that weight surely. Just shows that the wrong angle is game over

      Ooooohhhhh yeahhhh 🤙🏼thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it and yeah, to even get that moving like that is phenomenal really. No worries and can’t wait to stream live again. Tweaked it to 1080p and just need to fix up the audio and we are rolling at 60fps ooooohhhh yeah. Might do a Lakenheath TedCam on Friday but the Claire bear will take over in the afternoon hopefully 🤙🏼😎🇬🇧
