- The French Dassault Rafale made a great addition to the summer Duxford Air Show in which was cold windy conditions! This display was a lot slower from last years display but a lot tighter which was great to see! probably the low cloud forced display pilot, Captain Jean-Brice “Mimouss” Millet into a flat display. filmed on a Sony AX53 photos on a Nikon Z8 300 PRIME lense

What do you think of the 2024 French Rafale display ??
Great quality vid , thanks .
Classic hot British weather in early June. Did you put on sunscreen?! ;D
Considering it's a flat display due to low cloud deck, the pilot is tossing that thing around like it's nothing. Damn agile beast, the Rafale.
Not the best demo - quite a lot of swings and imprecisely pulled turns.
@URULES I Attended yesterday and can confirm with a large amount of sunburn, we had a very sunny British day 🤣
I was at the show with my grandson and we were blown away by the Rafale - an incredible display! A real highlight of an incredible airshow.
It was the only reason I travelled down from North Wales 😇
I really admire the French that they still have a proper aircraft industry, both civilian and military. We just outsource everything and have now lost the ability to do so even if we wanted to. So so sad.
They would have been in the Eurofighter program but there were some disagreements.
Don’t worry, soon UK will a new home made plane and superbes ships! I wish UK great success! 🇫🇷 ❤️ 🇬🇧
And we're going to have a new spaceport .... once the grey suits have saved-up enough empty milk bottles ! 😂
At the moment they've got more important things to do enabling the pseudo celebrity, shiny car, shiny dress culture and maintaining the de- industrialisation and money-for-nothing financial processes that were ramped-up 40 years ago and the sequelae of gross societal inequality. ... be reasonable
The UK Defence budget continues to shrink, and yet we refuse to co-operate with the French, who produced this fantastic aircraft (which is aircraft carrier and land capable), over a few disagreements! UK then builds the Typhoon, and buys the F-35,which necessitated an aircraft carrier which can ONLY operate VSTOL aircraft. I’d love to know how much money that saved the country.
@@KiwiJanner The figures are out there for the F35 programme and it's trillions if you include all the upgrades required to make it combat ready and that takes us into 2030 I think.. It's just another one of Bunter's world leading brilliant exceptionally clever projects so it will end in tears or get cancelled.. Mark my word it already has all the hallmarks, massively over budget and late. The aircraft carriers still suffering teething problems, aparently.
The pilot is Captain Jean-Brice Millet known as “Mimouss”. This Air Force pilot is experienced, he has more than 2,500 flight hours, including 1,400 on Rafale. Bravo to Elwyn, excellent video.
merci Francine pour avoir donné le nom de cet artiste des airs ! :)
compliments to Captain, this was really good.
Un AS sur un Diamant. Bravo !
@@Tradeur-Cueilleur Je vous en prie. Fière de nos pilotes et du Rafale et surtout de notre indépendance. 👍👍

Brilliant ! Wonderful aircraft and superb pilot. "Vive la France"
Yes awesome 👌
I continue to be in awe of the agility of the Rafale. On my bucket list to see display.
Cosford next weekend and RIAT in July
Seen it a number of times. The Rafale's fast roll rate really does make it look sharp, and the French pilots seem to really put a lot more into their displays than the British Typhoon pilots. Both jets are very similar in terms of maneuverability, but they really hold the Typhoon back, which is disappointing.
Usually the French Air Force hosts at least once per year a meeting on one of its air bases. They are cheap and you can spend a day watching all kind of aircraft including obviously the Patrouille de France and RSD
Life goals : do whatever in wherever and become second to Capitaine Millet 🎉❤
@@WildMorganNo, Rafale is superior !
Beautiful aeroplane, fantastically flown and so manoeuvrable! Excellent filming too. The Rafale is a special plane; the French nailed it when they designed this little beauty.
Yes thay did 👏 👌
Pit this Pilot in a 1.5l Renault R5 and he'll make it flip and roll like it should. Impossible is actually french. Amazing filming.
My family and I were there and it was our first airshow. We went primarily for the WW2 stuff but the Rafale blew us all away. My 6 year old said "that's the best thing I've ever seen".
a 6 year old hasn't seen much you know
@@kraenk12 why are you so bitter.

Brilliant aircraft, brilliant pilot, brilliant livery, and well, the capture was brilliant too. And I've watched twice so far.

Fantastic videography with no announcer and no music. Thanks Elwyn, top notch works as usual.

I loved this as well as Elwyn's Mach Loop videos. I watch this over and over to view the canards on the Rafale extended and retracted in different parts of each maneuver.
Stunning jet, stunning display filmed to perfection 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Struggling with my shoulders 🙄 a bit more practice next week 😇

A stunning technical display of airmanship plus a fabulous livery. Video is amazing! Thank you.

More impressed with the Pilot than anything. Some incredible precision flying in there. What a stud.
Damn this guy is awesome.
I was there. He was amazing. Unbelievable aircraft & pilot. ❤
I served in the SAAF many years ago and the Mirage 3s and F1s used to give me goosebumps
Rafale ! the best aircraft ever ! this aircraft is just amazing me ! god....it can do everything with an incredible brio !
Beautiful jet, spectacular video .... this makes me think just how close to instantaneous 90 degree turns they are getting!
It’s between 180 and 240/sec, not 90.
The Rafale is a very good looking aircraft. The way the intakes blend into the fuselage is much more glamorous than the Typhoon.
Je suis d'accord , c'est que je regrette sur le typhoon ! mais ca ca doit etre a cause des allemands ; ils voient tout de facon carré ! j'ai peur que les allemands coulent le scaf !
And usefull that's how the front weel can strongly attached to the fuselage and thus why France quited the Typhoon team : we wanted a plane for our carriers and typhoon could'nt make it with intakes right under.

Amazing what that beautiful plane is capable of ! You expertly captured a pilot flying a military jet to the max of human ability ! Thank you !
The performance put forth by this pilot was superb. It was a showstopper; simply delicious!
The G being pulled is amazing
As an American pilot I always wanted to fly the Mirage 2000, now I have another aircraft added to that list.
Cool 👌
Tu peux toujours en piloté un si tu veux, on va livrer de Mirage 2000-5 au Ukrainien, ils seraient ravis d'accueillir un ancien de l'USAF 😁

And Duxford, I mean… Duxford is something special from all French aviation fans! Good job!
I remember seing there a Spitfire and a Hurricane with low fly by coming from being hangar, such a surprise and such an emotion! I saw a BF 109 as well, but on the ground. Best wish of success from 🇫🇷
+9g pfft -4g pfft, one of the best displays from those guys. A tight circuit but still took it to the limits love that aircraft.
+11g possible
Nicely filmed, pilot certainly packed that into a tiny bit of airspace, great for the audience
Indeed! 👌
Watched it live when the afterburners faced us our hole body vibrated.
One of my favourite displays , all to the limit!
Something you don't see every day...
It reminded me of a dancing automaton, can't say exactly why. 🙂
And the livery was spectacular.
No I agree! the livery in this weather was a bit flat
Incredible display! The Rafale never disappoints.
It was a nice tight display 👌
Fabulous capture, you appear to know the routine like the back of your hand. So much respect for this awesome aircraft, even more respect for the pilot, thanks for posting.
Thank you so much 😀 never seen the routine before 😇
Excellent video! I'm glad that our English friends were able to see this great display at Duxford. I live in France but I've been in England several times and one of my best memories here was The Fighter Collection airshow at Duxford with its impressive Balbo at the end of the how: Duxford is a GREAT AND ICONIC place for every aviation fan and the Rafale really rocks! 😍💯👍
Saw it in person on the Saturday, loved it.
The Rafale always gives a good show no matter the weather. Great Pilot!!
These guys use my house in France as a waypoint all the time, ‘buzzing’ the place at 500ft. I love it! The cats? Not so much.😌
😅😅
There are two military airports in my area. I understand your cats very well, everytime when they do air maneuvers and "buzzing" over my neighborhood, my cat is hiding under the sofa😺😅
Wow what a pilot. Typical French flare. Typhoon Display Team, take note this is how it’s done. Superb filming too.
Cheers ☺️
One of the staples of modern Air Show's: I'm more likely to go if there's a Rafale doing a flying display!
It's a nice tight display 👌
The Rafa deserves so much more attention and praise than it gets - as manoeuvrable as the Russian jets but as beautiful as the most beautiful flying thing the French have ever created including Concorde, and as deadly as any latest gen fighter in the world.
Probably one of, if not the best flat displays I've seen. I think the "bad" weather often brings out the better displays. 👏👏👏👏
For me, one of the most beautiful jet fighters design
Breath taking, how exciting is that, well done Elwyn, brilliant. 👍✈️👍✈️👍🔥🔥
Many thanks ☺️
I have not seen a Rafale display like that before...WOW!!!!
Absolute insane display
Somehow, to me, Rafale always looks like it's in a hurry. And with a pilot this good, blink and you've missed it. Amazing!
Never understood why the British government wasted a load of money developing the Typhoon, when they could have just ordered a bunch of Rafale instead.
Probably because they didn't want to give any money to the French. 🤣
@@Octane_au Such an attitude would be no surprise!
Requirements were just different in the 80’s. England and Germany wanted a powerful interceptor. Though, France was needing a workhorse, able to a large kind of mission, not only air dominance, from earth or carrier vessel. Sorry for my English.
@@olivierscalp1176 What has the 80s got to do with anything? The Rafale and Typhoon both entered service in the early 2000s!
@@QuicknStraight I imagine he's probably about right with the timings. Car industry does it's R&D for cars now that wont be released for around 8 years. Factor in the slow decision making of governments as clients, the tooing and froing with military that want to be involved at every stage and do change their minds regularly, then and before that the going out to contract and procurement... as a basic consumer you won't see any of this. Remember also there wasn't just one government or one military to have their say. You know what they say about committees agreeing.
Just found out the first development Eurofighter was built in 1992 and first flew in 1994. So you see the timeline does not rush - 2 years before they plucked up the courage (did the tests, double checked the design etc) to fly the thing. And it clearly didn't just happen overnight - getting a fully built dev aircraft in 1992. Would have been years of financial wrangling and R&D before that date.
Lastly, although these governments and militaries involve would want an aircraft for the future they would be daft not to consider the recent past when making decisions about what the plane should have or be able to do. So 80's sounds right.
I am a total sucker for the French Army. What a beautiful solo display!
French Air & Space Force, not Army.
Magnifique display et quel pilote! Merci pour ce film. Dassault rules.
Stunning considering the awful weather xx
Many thanks! it was a shame but it was dry😊
Magnificent in every way.
It is better looking among the Typhoon and Grippen IMO. No surprise in keeping with Dassault Mirage lineage the Rafale is gorgeous as it is capable, spectacular display.
Good god. Who the heck was piloting that Rafale?!?! Never seen such beautiful high alpha maneuvers from any plane. Like a knife fight in a phone booth.
The pilot is Captain Jean-Brice Millet known as “Mimouss”.

The Rafale and its pilot are a great combination! Good Video as always from Elwyn
Excellent. Europe... Rafale, Saab Gripen and Eurofighter Typhoon. A very impressive trio. But, Rafale has ' French Flair and good looks'.
It is a shame that british-french technological cooperation has ceased for obscure reasons.
Yes. The Concord was a magnificent bird too.
Surprisingly ,after all the biff's between our countries, I've been told that it's easier to work with English than with German.
@@metalazzo What differentiates the Germans from the British and the French is this rigidity which does not correspond to Latin culture.
France needed an omnirole land and naval aircraft, England wanted a fighter. These requirements led to too different technical solutions to be compatible. And objectively, and I'm not saying that because I'm French, the Rafale is clearly the "winner" of this confrontation: more efficient, only on aircraft type for all missions and less expensive (production, maintenance and usage costs)
Fantastic demo with this low ceiling ! How agile the Rafale is !! Thanks a lot for this beautiful video, Elwyn !

That was like a stunt-biplane display, but performed by a fighter jet. Amazing stuff.

Congratulations for you, pilot and ingenieurs.
That aircraft looks spectacular, so manoeuvrable.
We've seen it a couple of times on the Friday practice days. A great display.
That was a cracking display to start the show with unfortunately my 7 year old wasnt keen on the noise, when he had the afterburners on . Great camera work

FRENCH RAFALE F5 WILL BE THE EVER BEST JETFIGHTER EVER MADE IN THE WORLD !! CONGRATS DASSAULT AVIATION
Beautiful camera work. This Rafale looks really capable, and the combo of canards and delta gives it some really unusual flight characteristics, it appeared to be sliding all over the place like a drunk on ice-skates - it did some very unusual yaw and pitch movement while rolling and it seemed to have enough energy to keep it going. I feel like the F-22 has a real aerobatic rival here.
Some years ago a simulated dogfight between the Rafale and the F-22 showed that Rafale was able to resist to the F-22 (videos are available on RUclips). Since that USA refuse further dogfights Rafale - F-22
I cannot look at this new aircraft and be reminded how strikingly similar it compares to the iconic Mirage with the addition of canards.
What a pilot... stunning
Absolutely love it
