    Still less embarrassing than the only "easy mode" we had in the 80's; beg an older friend/brother to get through that part for you, at the price of eternal reminders that you had to ask for help.

      @@WhiteFangofWar Really? Because not to brag, but I did beat Punch-Out on the Wii, and got to Title Defense, with only slightly moderate trouble. But Title Defense Glass Joe is still a joke. I do remember Donkey Kong being in the game, but I don't remember ever doing that fight. I had a pretty good record in the game, nothing great, but I definitely didn't lose 100 times. I lost a lot less than that. But since it was a few years ago, I don't remember my record specifically. I just remember beating everybody, taking the title, doing most of Title Defense, don't remember how far I got, but I don't remember beating that mode though, I think I just went and played another game. But, Punch-Out on the Wii was a good game. But I can't believe how awful Glass Joe is as a boxer. Like I said before, he's literally the worst boxer of all time.

Is he hiding in shame somewhere, or what?(I mean; if it were me; I know I would), Did he retire because he lost to the worst boxer ever? Or did he ever exist in the first place? I don't know.

      @@brandonp7503 That was always the scariest Spider-Man boss. Seeing Carnage slide over to Doc Ock, after he was already knocked out, and then attach itself to him and then start screeching at you, while throwing things at you, even making Spidey get scared. Seriously, all you did in that "fight" was run away, because your attacks do nothing to Carnage Ock. When I played the n64 version as a kid, I always tried to skip that scene, or complete the game before a new episode of the Spider-Man cartoon would come on. But I always HATED seeing or hearing Monster Ock's screech, so I also turned down the TV volume too, because I didn't want to hear it saying "DIE!!!!! DIE!!!!!!!" constantly, while chasing me down a hallway with its red goopy, red metal monster tentacle-like things. It's not even a fight, Spidey's just web-swinging away from it, trying to escape, or expose the thing to harsh sunlight or whatever Symbiotes were weak to. I had nightmares about that Monster Ock thing as a kid, and don't know how I beat it, back then. And when I'd go back to the game, I always dreaded seeing my worst nightmare: Carnage Ock, chasing me down a hallway, like this just suddenly became a horror game starring Spider-Man. But props to whoever did the voice for that demonic nightmare creature. They did a good job with the voice.

      Yeah man, its like the game throw you a bone out of guilt&/pity since you already brought it and didn't want you to refund it as the result.
      But you know what they say, you gotta start somewhere, and I will admit I've become better player out of easy mode and finished normal on my second and hard at the third run.
      Still couldn't beat DMD though...

    • @shawnfields2369
      @shawnfields2369 Год назад +1

      @@komi-samabeliever7319 Yeah, I agree, got to start somewhere; and since DMC3 is the first DMC game in the timeline, it's the perfect place to start, since this is the beginning of the legend known as Dante, who gets his DT powers; names his business; and dances around in the first mission while he's killing demons, it's fun as hell(pun intended), and yeah; I went through the same problem with Easy Mode, getting killed by the boss of Mission 2; Vergil, the Arkham Blob Monster; Agni & Rudra, Cerberus, pretty much every boss; even Lady, but; this was when I really sucked big time at the series, but yeah; being thrown into the deep end of the series, did help alot, but I also grinded against certain bosses, so I wouldn't EVER lose to them again, like Vergil, Arkham; the boss fight in the the 2nd mission, Beowulf, and it almost worked for me...but I never got past Hard Mode on DMC3, but I wanted to eventually work my way up to Dante Must Die, but even though I've played literally every single DMC game, from the very first one(with Trish, and the whole "fill your dark soul with light", thing, and Mundus), and the one with Emo Dante; which everyone hates, along with DMC2, 3, 4, and 5, and even seen the anime too; which is short; but pretty good, and is even referenced in DMC5; when they mention Patty being on the phone, Patty being the little girl from the DMC anime; who Dante was tasked with helping her trying to find her mother; while she stayed at the Devil May Cry office; and basically asked Dante for desserts. But; it's nice to have a throwback to the Animated Series. Sorry you couldn't beat Dante Must Die; but to be fair; even most of the best DMC players out there have always had some trouble with DMD difficulty. Since you basically die in only 1-2 hits, and since certain bosses in DMC3 already add pain and suffering to the game like for example: literally EVERY single Vergil fight, to Arkham (when he becomes a giant pink tentacle Blob demon); Beowulf; Cerberus, and anyone else I forgot? It's been a while since I've last gone through DMC3: Dante's Awakening: Special Edition, and I've forgotten most of the bosses; but I love every single DMC game; except maybe DmC, but not because it's a terrible game, it's just not a very worthy entry in the DMC series, with whiny; Emo Dante; Vergil being bland and boring; and the girl, Kat, she just doesn't do much; but it's still got good gameplay, just not a very good entry to the franchise, in my opinion. I mean; I actually liked DMC2 slightly more(no idea why; maybe it was the stylish Dante outfit or Lucia, the other protagonist), I don't know. But I definitely want to go back to the DMC games, and try them again on higher difficulties. Because it's worth trying again, for the sheer hell of it(pun intended).

      Some examples are that in mg5 if you played loud and gunned down every single enemy you see then the enemies started wearing body armor and helmets, if you fultoned a ton of enemies in front of other enemies they would start to recognize what was happening over the course of the game and then cut down their friend before he goes to the moon. If you frequently deployed at night then they start wearing night vision and more spotlights start showing up, if you frequently used the cardboard box to sneak through enemy bases then over time enemies will start checking boxes and eventually just shoot it on sight if they notice it’s moved, etc. what your talking about is technically the same thing but it’s a very primitive version of what metal gear 5 had and I don’t think any other game has done it in at equal or better level then mg5 did

      I can remember playing DMC3, and I could barely get past the first boss, the one outside of the yet unnamed Devil May Cry building, and getting killed by it, and seeing the "Easy Mode is now selectable" message too. I tried not to pick it, because i wanted to prove to myself that I didn't need Easy Mode, but as soon as I got to Vergil 1, and died like, 4, 5 times in a row, I went back to the beginning of the very first mission, and spammed it in Easy Mode, just to get back to Misson 7, and kick Vergil's stupid ass, just to say I did. And I wouldn't stop until I beat Vergil(yes, literally every single Vergil boss fight),on EVERY SINGLE DIFFICULTY setting, even Very Hard and Dante Must Die. Even though I had a hard as hell time fighting those 2 annoying demon swords, Agni & Rudra, but even though I never got to do that, I still beat Vergil multiple times anyways; and I managed to beat the first boss without having to worry about him anymore, and even Agni & Rudra, the only truly challenging bosses in DMC3 were Arkham(after he turns himself into a tentacle blob monster), and Vergil has to help you, and you also can't use Devil Trigger in the fight either, so no health recovery, and Arkham always keeps sapping your health, and recovering his own health, while Vergil just went off and did his own thing, and also, there were exploding blobs too. Really annoying as hell, as if having to accept Vergil's help already wasn't shameful enough,(although I thought it looked cool), especially the cutscene after the fight. But, Vergil 3, is probably the most challenging final boss in the game, (probably in the DMC series as a whole), and if you hadn't died enough (somehow), to get the "Easy Mode is now selectable" message yet(firstly, good job on getting that far in DMC3 to have not died that much). But you'll definitely see that message by either Mission 19(the Arkham Blob), or Misson 20(Vergil 3), the bane of my experience with DMC3.

      Monster Hunter Rise has an interesting take on a difficulty slider. Basically, there are these things around the map called Spiribirds, and they can provide boosts to your attack, defense, max health or max stamina. You can choose to take a couple of minutes to gather some of these along with other small creatures called endemic life, and they can help make the hunt easier. They're also mostly not on the direct paths, so you do have to go out of your way a bit to gather them.
      If you feel confident enough, however, you can just go right up to the monster and fight. Nothing is stopping you, but it will be a bit harder because you're losing a bit of attack, extra HP and stamina. The defense admittedly doesn't matter because it's only up to +50 or so when Master Rank sets have over 600-700 defense.

    The difficulty level selection screen in Wolfenstein: The New Order springs to mind. I believe they put BJ in a baby bonnet with a pacifier on the easiest setting. I think they also use absurd names/descriptions for them just to poke fun at the player for picking easier difficulties. I usually go with the 3rd most difficult setting; it's harder to choose when there are 4 options instead of 3 sometimes. RE7 is more polite with just saying that on they'll take it easy on the player when easy is selected. Considering how I am with horror games, that's the setting I've opted for so I can concentrate on the story and solving puzzles, and being scared, without also juggling fighting enemies that won't stay down all the time.
    Doesn't Crash Bandicoot do something with the Aku Aku masks if you die enough? I know people call it a pity Aku or double pity Aku.
    Kingdoms of Amalur is one game that will ask if you want to change the difficulty setting if you keep dying in a row a lot. When I first started playing I ran into issues fighting the Maid of Windemere for the House of Ballads faction quest. The game started showing me a little popup after respawning reminding me that I could always change to an easier difficulty. It wasn't patronizing in its wording, but knowing how easy the game is, for the most part, on the hard difficulty setting had me refuse to change the difficulty. It also means no achievement for playing the whole game on hard; have to start on hard and not change it until after you've defeated Tirnoch. Re-Reckoning added a Very Hard difficulty, but it's trash. They didn't balance it. All they did was make the enemies damage sponges without adjusting weapon damage or anything else. After just one or two fights weapons are nearly broken and it just draws things out several times longer without making it fun anymore, so I restarted on the original Hard difficulty and it works like it should.

When the game makes an enemy out of me, I make it my mission to learn the ins and outs of it until I can take everything it can throw at me and make it look effortless in dealing with it all. But what makes my point is the fact that he beats professional gamers, people who are good at the games and play their hardest all day every day, who don't have disabilities, on the regular and makes it look like he's barely even trying half the time. We're all different as human beings. We all function differently, we all behave differently, we all have different strengths, different weaknesses, and different mindsets. But Brolylegs proves that only that which we _let_ stop us, actually stops us.

      @@fierysmile2929 That’s great for Brolylegs. Never knew about him. However, he’s one person. Besides that, that’s really no excuse not to have alternative control schemes for disabled people or having them in mind during design (VR is especially bad for this). Understanding and sensitivity never hurt, either. If a disabled person (or any gamer, for that matter) doesn’t think that they can beat or even just enjoy a higher difficulty, then games shouldn’t be making fun of them for that, because that could potentially be very hurtful to someone.

    Here's an idea for a list: 7 video game reboot universes that were abandoned for the superior previous version. Examples:

    Prince of Persia, went back to the Sands of Time timeline(s) after one game in a rebooted universe.
    Devil May Cry went right back to white-haired Dante after DMC: Devil May Cry.

    • @shawnfields2369
      @shawnfields2369 Год назад

      Sounds like a great list. Ironically, I've played Sonic '06, Prince of Persia, and Devil May Cry, and let me say: I agree; I'm GLAD we went back to the superior versions, Sonic '06 was a clusterfuck, disaster, according to SomecallmeJohnny; and it's only memorable factor; was the soundtrack(which I can agree with, also, SomecallmeJohnny is an amazing person, and one of the best and funniest guys out there), the 2008 Prince of Persia reboot, I didn't actually hate like everyone else did, but maybe that's because I've never played the other POP games; but I didn't mind hearing Nolan North as the Prince; or Michelle Ruff as Elika, but I also get why people abandoned the rebooted Prince of Persia universe; it was too confusing, the game was literally too easy, and even though I didn't mind the romance between the Prince and Elika, I can see why they went back to the Sands of Time universe, with Yuri Lownethal as The Prince, is a better Prince anyway, from what I've seen from the games; I really wish I'd played the Prince of Persia Trilogy. And as for DMC, yeah; there was nothing of any real substance in the reboot, but it wasn't an awful reboot; just missed the point of WHY and WHAT makes Dante, Dante in the first place; but it did have pretty stylish and sweet gameplay; but it missed the point when it came to Dante; which is why everyone mocks this Dante and calls this version: "Donte", "Emo Dante"; etc., but I'm glad they went right back to white-hair Dante; because this Dante was a whiny; spoiled child who cried, and the white hair thing came back as soon as the game ended; literally the final scene is reboot Dante's hair turning white, while he stares blankly at the camera. We're all the better for having ditched the Emo Dante, anyways. Even DMC2 Dante was a way better Dante; and he barely said a word in that game. At least he let his actions speak for him in that one. DmC: Devil May Cry Dante, just cried like a baby until he got what he wanted; and was just as unlikable as the main villain, Lex Luthor, oh, sorry, I meant to say Mundus, sorry, but that version of Mundus reminded me of Lex Luthor, for some reason, maybe it's just me? But I'm glad DMC went back to the Dante we all know and love, with DMC5. This Dante knows how to have fun, while the other guy; was just a stand-in until the real Dante could make his long-awaited return to being a demon slaying badass. Just saying.
