Thanks for including all of your experiments with the shims into the video. It's really useful to see how different makers are using different shim combinations with different die cut machines.
Yes, I watched yana and the spellbinders guy and he said do not back it up when you use it. He stated that there are products in the works where you have to change the number of shims you use. Her video was very informative. This might take the place of stamps?! Don’t know!?! I did finally preorder this after watching several videos and learning you can use your foils with them. Glad there is more than one use for this product. Great video!! Thank you!!
Those turned out gorgeous! I especially love the beautiful flowers that you painted. I don't have a BetterPress yet, but it is definitely going on my Santa list! Thank you for the video.
I absolutely love my BetterPress. It is so easy to use and the results are amazing!!!! I made 5 card fronts in about 10 minutes after I took it out of the box. Your cards are absolutely beautiful!!!
Thanks for showing us the "real" demo of this new product! It is more meaningful when we see some of the little hiccupus that we all encournt get the scrubber block? great tool to have.
Oooo they are Elicant 😉 I'm really looking forward to the BP inks to use on everything I have whether I use the BP or not. Oh I like your wood handle scrubber. I think I'll make one with the leftover wood mounts, ez cling & stamp scrubber refill I have.
Thank you so very much for this great comprehensive tutorial. You provided all the information I needed to move forward and purchase the Better Press. Your time making the tutorial is greatly appreciated.
At first I thought this was simply a variation of a stamping press, didn’t catch on until you mentioned that it leaves an impression or debossing along with the inking or stamping. It’s cool & I saw a short by Simon Hurley using this earlier, but I don’t see me buying it. It took a lot for me to get to purchasing a Misti and I don’t have a die cutting / embossing machine - want one as it would be alot of fun to use embossing folders & dies but I already have a Cricut Maker, so can’t justify spending the money for that & definitely not the Betterpress especially when it requires its own set of special “dies” & ink. Most definitely love the cards you made & seeing how much you enjoyed trying this out, Cathy 😊.
@@czdesign 🙂 I’ll add that even if there are budget constraints, if it weren’t for you & others like @bethadilly & some other YT creators sharing, I wouldn’t know what is out there (like my Misti), techniques & more, so please do keep sharing new things - definitely appreciated!! 😊😊
Loved watching you have a play with this new project, TFS…..in Jennifer’s second video, she mentioned not to press down on the plate when running it through, to just let the machine do the work. I wondered if that maybe added to your double image, as she also ran it through mote than once. Just wondering. Your cards turned out beautiful
Thanks for the excellent demonstration. What I want to know is what is the major difference in using this system versus using regular embossing folders. I have inked up embossing folders and had nice results. I've also inked up regular dies, some that cut and some that just emboss and had good results. Trying to see if I really need to invest in a new system and pressing die plates. Thanks!
That is a great question. I would say, it's so similar in terms of the impressing into things, so yeah, it's more specific for what a letter press actually is. : )
Great demo and learned some new things about this set up. Did you know that you can hot foil with those letterpress plates. Yana did it and it's beautiful. Thanks for showing some other ideas and some additional plates that aren't included in the start up package. Also, the different pink ink which is so pretty. I'm drooling right now.
Excellent video. I also watched Simon Hurley's video. Now, the $1.98 question: Would you use this more often than your foiling system or your stencils or any of your other techniques?
That IS a good question! I'm going to make a card with this on my Wednesday live and will share more thoughts! I feel like it's just another tool to choose from, you know? BUT… it's easier than foiling!
I wonder if you splattered on a blank card first and then Letter Press the You Make Me Happy afterward. They the splatter would be “behind” the sentiment. All beautiful cards and the flower painting looks very botanical! TFS
How pretty those cards came out. The one you painted is my favorite. Thank you Cathy! With my anniversary around the corner, do I want the Spellbinders Press Letter?! 🤓
Thank you for your video - your cards are beautiful! I did get this system and am quite happy with it! My question is why the two word plates that come with the flower in the system both say the same thing??
If I remember correctly, the two plates are the same except for the spelling of the word “favorite” & “favourite” (the latter being the UK English spelling).
Wondering what you use to pop up items when you don’t want very much elevation. Seems like everything I see (and have) is too thick. There has to be something out there?! Oh, love your videos and humor!!
Oh, there are thin foam squares you can get with lower depth! Also foam tapes with lower depths, too! Simon Says Stamp has a big momma roll that is thinner. And thinner foam squares!
I love watching you play with this. You think so much like I do, so it was like playing myself. I am curious could you maybe mist a bit of water on the ink? As when you get done inking, the beginning isn't wet Ink anymore. Also can we use hot foil plates, or regular dies.
Do you mean mist the ink i'm coloring with? I think i just switched to the waterbrush for pick up. You cannot use hot foil plates with this system. But, strangely enough, you can use the press plates with the Glimmer system. They do not say you can use regular dies with this.
@@czdesign thank you for your time and reply. Does “nice” mean that you have a good impression in your paper? Yes I used the shims. They are to be used with this thinner cotton paper and removed with the thicker paper that is not yet released. I’ve watched every video on Betterpress that is out there. JM also kindly answered my question. It seems that maybe it is more about the detail it produces and not the impression. She said hers was a slight indentation. That is what mine is. Ever so slight -there almost is no indentation. So this acts more like a detailed stamp than something that gives an actual impression along with inking. I just had incorrect expectations for this product based on what I have been seeing. One of those things I needed to see in person to touch to make an informed decision for myself.
Hi Cathy, is there any chance you could see if the betterpress system works with your Gemini junior. It is not on the list of compatible machines at Spellbinders. I am really keen to buy the betterpress system, but I don’t want to have to buy a new die cutting machine as well!
So, I'm not sure I want to risk running it through and breaking either my Gemini Jr. or my BetterPress plate. I would hold tight until someone out there is willing to try it! lol!
It's actually similar in that it impressed into the paper. This is a more specific thing, designed for a letterpress (inked and impressed) image. Letterpress has been around for a very long time (like from Guttenberg's era!), just not in a mass market type of tool! at least not that I know. : )
It's a metal plate that pushes ink and in impression into paper. Similar to an embossing folder, but the metal is stronger than plastic and leaves a super crisp impression. Letterpress has been around since, oh, the 15th century! Guttenberg… moveable type… that sort of thing! Old technology, new presentation!
Yes, I agree as well! To many things needed. I already have a lot of $$$ invested in stamps, ink etc. This is just another way to stamp and I don't think stamps will go out of the picture at all.
@@tracilynn05 IDK, Jennifer McGuire has several videos on this and she talks about this. I think use can use other inks, but not the dies. So you have to start buying all those expensive new dies. Would regular die work or we have to only use press on die ?

How much/deep of an impression did you get? Mine is so small that it is almost flat like a stamp. Barely any impression just detailed inking.
