🚙 Tata Harrier Review | ₹ Price Starts at 12.69 Lakh | Tata Takes On The Compass | ZigWheels.com

- Tata has finally launched its much-awaited SUV, the Harrier At ₹ 12.69 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai. Tata’s new flagship with its introductory price looks like a good value for money package.
The variant-wise price breakup, is as follow:
🚙 Tata Harrier XE - Rs 12.69 Lakh
🚙Tata Harrier XM - Rs 13.75 Lakh
🚙 Tata Harrier XT - Rs 14.95 Lakh
🚙 Tata Harrier XZ - Rs 16.25 Lakh
With the Harrier, it seems like Tata has pulled out all the stops. Beginning with what’s underneath the swanky exterior. It’s based on the D8 platform that also underpins the Land Rover Discovery Sport. But, all the aluminium has been ditched in favour of high-strength steel.
Under the hood is a 2.0-litre diesel engine developed by Fiat. Yep, it’s the same motor that also powers the Jeep Compass. But, it makes 140PS of power instead of 173PS, while torque is rated at 350Nm. And while the platform and the engine suggest the Harrier is all-wheel drive, it’s not. Power is sent to the front wheels only. As a consolation, you do get ‘Terrain Response’ modes - Rough Road and Wet. There are three drive modes too - Eco, City and Sport.
On the features front, Tata has thrown in quite a whole lot. There’s Xenon projector headlamps, cornering foglamps, 17-inch alloy wheels as well as LED tail lamps. On the inside there’s a soft touch dashboard, and leather upholstery. Infotainment duties are handled by an 8.8-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch display in the instrument cluster and a sweet-sounding 9 speaker JBL audio system. It’s loaded to the brim with safety tech too, including 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, traction control and hill descent control.

Right now I don't have that much cash to buy this car....but ever since I bought Tata Tiago almost 3 year back....I always wait for New Tata launch because they surprise us most of the Time......well-done Tata👍👍
Sorry Jeep compass, this is indian Manufacturer capacity Tata Harrier all the way before i used to hate Tata now i am really proud of this beautiful car. This time every Indians will Salute this car🇮🇳
Fyi- it uses Jeep Compass engine..
FYI its not from jeep compass, it is actually from fiat. jeep compass, harrier and may other cars are using FIAT engine.
I think compass also uses Fiat Engine
@@lohithspatil1727 lol when did I say engine is from Jeep. Fiat is the parent company for Jeep so obviously it will use 175 Hp fiat engine.

Seems like the caption is typed by maruti fan or a hyundai guy. If people are ready to pay 15 lakh for swift engined suv and 18 lakhs for a 1.6L creta made on i20 platform, then why not this? Harrier is made on range rover discovery platform and a fiat's 2.0L multijet engine, don't expect cheap pricing. This car is more about safety and build quality, things highly irrelevant to maruti and hyundai guys.
Hyundai has good build quality. 😒
@@ArunArun-rv5bn Tata Harrier is based on Land Rover Discovery. Don't you think it'll have better built quality than the Hyundai?
@@ArunArun-rv5bn google some ncap rating for hyundai india models.
Old i10 failed the asean ncap
Made in india grand i10 failed the latin ncap. Made in india i20's structural integrity found to be unstable by global ncap and indian creta is made on i20 platform. I am talking only about the indian models, euro ncap ratings are not valid here in india. Every hyundai line up from eon to creta is unsafe.
@@bibhushanshrestha5815 I'm not comparing it to harrier. Creta is overpriced. But generally compared to maruti suzuki hyundai is way better.
@@rajjat865 Where did you get that info about indian i20. Body is not specially made for india. It's the same for international models. But international model has more airbags and other safety features. That's why the higher rating. Body and platform are the same. i20 sold in europe is also made in india.
Lower end models such as i10 may not be as good. But still better than maruti suzuki imo.
I paid 7.5 lakhs for my tata manza in 2010. People questioned me would you pay close to 8 lakhs for tata then.
Let me tell you that I made a right decision then than buy a dzire for the same amount.
I am still enjoying my drive 8 yrs and 1 lakh kms later.
And I would love to upgrade to harrier and ppl who ask the same question can go to hell
Yup Manza is a great car - fantastic - matches their "more car per car" tagline
Dr Abhinandan Dutt Ch jajetsomg
Even I have a manza only done 65k km not happy with the quality even the guys at Tata say time to sell it after 5 years

These are people who go gaga over Maruti whos quality as we all know sucks i own a 1997 TATA Sierra its a bloody tank no Hyundai nor Maruti can stand the abuse a TATA goes through when thier first passenger car with no safety features can stand the test of time im sure the newer vehicles definitely does, for info i have owned the most abused TATA INDICA, Own A TATA TiAgo. No vehicles are as sturdy and as light on pockets as TATA those who say why buy a TATA, Go take a Hike.
It is a pride vehicle of indians. No matter how hard rate you down. We indians buy it.
With Nexon scoring a 5* in the global NCAP, it is clear the direction Tata is heading. A truly global vehicle designed in India. However, would hv loved slightly bigger and better designed alloys and a sunroof in the top end. 20 Lakhs for a Tata !!! Yes, 20 Lakhs for a Tata is justified. However I dont understand why 18 Lakhs for a creta !!! Can someone throw light.
When we are ready to spend 12l on a tin can... Why can't on Harrier and tata? When you really know you have the most sturdy built car that can save your family during a crash... They why shouldn't we..
Agreed! Right!
Just unsubscribed you . You are a biased reviewer. You dont care about safety
Why? Then this my answer, when Creta asks nearly 18L and gives no big feature and lesser space lesser safety features when compared with this vehicle, then this vehicle qualifies to put 20L as it gives bigger engine which suits the size of this vehicle, better safety features which an SUV requires.
Arre bhai tata aur mahindra ki car ki capacity 5 saal ke baad khatam..10 laakh bhi is company ko Dena bekaar hai.. West of money
I know this car look pretty good
JBL sound system might compensate for better insulation in the cabin 😀
Hahaha agreed! It does!
Hahaha😁😁😁👍
The test drivers probably were enjoying the sound system so much that they did not test it without the music:)
Nailed it
I don't think the insulation is that bad as it is exaggerated in these reviews.
Engine groan is one thing. Cabin NVH insulation is another thing. This is the part which may actually be good.
What the hell do you mean by saying ' are you ready to pay 20L for a tata car?....dude tata has proved its worth in automobile industry...if one is paying 20L then he is getting the worth of 35L ... really disappointed in this review
35 lakhs? haha no way. You'll get an AWD Volkswagen Tiguan with a 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission for 35 lakhs. It's loaded with all the premium features.
@@ArunArun-rv5bn Agreed. But it isn't always about features and features....only.
I wish to write this not just specifically to you but to all reading this. So no offense buddy.
Tata always spends money on things that are worthy to us, like engineering prowess and innovation. Unfortunately, these things are imperceptible to most of us Indians unless it comes from an established premium brand.
Also, I simply don't understand why people go gaga over a sunroof which has no practical purpose and is actually counterproductive in summers and for the A/C.
Trust me, myself an Automobile connoisseur and my father's profession is in the same field.
When we were staying as NRIs, He worked for Subaru and General motors. Then we had a Cadillac SUV with the brawny Northstar V8 and a Subaru Impreza with Symmetrical AWD. Both had sunroofs. The Cadillac had a Panoramic one.
Sunroofs are nothing to be proud of, and are useless in a climate like ours. Please understand everyone.
Masha ahalla, proud of Tata yes I would definitely say this worth the price it's a proud moment for us Indian to see a Indian car manufacturers with such high standards
but why?? coz creta is a joke, compass is overpriced, xuv is softroader with no terrain response system, Tucson is a segment above overpriced
The mighty harrier however is a L550 platform, muscular styling body, btw, rear also looks stunning not only the sides, durable fiat engine, terrain response by esp with drive modes integrated. Hence, THAT'S WHY..!
Also less power than a Storme with the same a
Engine as compass. Safari is the way to go
Agree 200%
i mean all people complaining abt alloy wheels.... just look at the way they look while car is zoomig on roads.. just loved it.. do watch it guys
Kartikeya singhee you are the best automobile reviewer in the world, Your voice is so clean and there is no bullshit jokes in your review, You are truly a high professional reviewer, Zigwheels is very proud of having you in their team.
The title shows how you are biased for Tata. You did the same for Nexon review and got beating from the public with comments. You didnt improve. Yes, its worth paying that price for Tata vehicles. I own a Nexon XZ+ and im totally happy with it.
Till date im getting 21-22 kmpl in city on eco mode with AC ON. And 25-26 kmpl on highways, again AC ON and Eco mode. Also your comments in between says "Tata should have given this, Tata should have given that". I hope you dont ask Tata to give you free fuel for next 5 years. It wont be surprise if you say "As we are paying such a big price, Tata should give us free fuel for next 5 years just to cover the cost". Typical paid reviewer.
Hi Sir! Glad to know that you are with us even though you disagree with our previous verdict. We will continue to share what we experience. The decision will always remain yours. We will call it as we see it. Glad to hear your Nexon is running well. I could just as well call you biased. Because we have called a spade a spade, and in this case the Harrier has impressed. But we will speak about what people want to know! Ciao!

Tata Harrier ❤❤
Tata please bring this Car to Indonesia. Striking design, it's just cool crazy appearance !
Well I am so impressed but zigwheels seems to be unimpressed and the reason is pretty simple,it's TATA and not foreign manufacturer!
Hey, firstly, thank you for watching! Why do you feel that? Did you watch the verdict? Would help me understand.
@@SirKart Hi,was a big fan of your reviews and now not much much, yet I like the way you think and review.
Well, the title says so much than I can pull it off and second it's TATA and they are progressing yet few media people turn them down because of their history.
You guys are alright compared to Autocar and I still believe this a stunning car makes me feel proud!
I am not a customer for TATA motor vehicles. But I appreciate the heart and soul TATA puts in making their vehicles. The efforts taken to incrementally improve their vehicles is commendable.

For a moment let's forget harrier and focus on the fact that The Nexon is now the first made-in-India car to achieve a perfect 5 star rating from GlobalNCAP.
It's deeply heartening to see an Indian manufacturer trying their best to offer the best safety for their customers while you'd expect the market leader to do the same for their best selling cars but that's just a hope.
I sincerely pray and hope that this *TRIUMPH* over everyone else translates very clearly into higher sales for them. *They* deserve it. While some other companies don't.
Kudos Tata. A proud moment for us.
At the beginning I liked it but somewhere in middle i disliked it, and at the end I removed disliked button and end up not voting for up and down. I'm speechless. Not sure what I can conclude here, got mixed feelings about this review,.
Too proud to have Tata able to compete with other foreign motor companies 👍
It is my request to change the caption.. Judge the car not brand.. I don't mind with caption like 20 lac for Harrier?.. Product can have some mistakes in product. But it should not harm one brand's reputation. As they are doing such a hard work and giving wide range of cars

Something along the lines of "Is a TATA car worth 20lakhs"?
No one have put up question for i20 based creta at 18 lakh and Harrier is based on land rover discovery sport platform that cast 50 lakh plus 20 lakh price is much cheaper for Harrier.
A top variant "Harrier"is available in India just "Fifteen" lakhs is an amazing thing to experienced car lovers.2.0 multi jet engines has given around 20 klms is unbelievable.Try to own a harrier is the prestigious "make in india"pledge to INDIAN citizens !!
A review done well-Not much tamasha, not much hulla shor, but definitely tries to answer a fundamental qn that almost all of the prospective buyers and their near and dear ones will ask, at least once for sure. Also, the reviewer does a great job of establishing a personal touch with the subscribers- kudos for that as well!!
brilliant job done by tata ,as said karthik there is always room for improvement steering looks cheap but i love the size of the car and the built quality is superb hats off to Tata for giving us a good car to talked about
So actually 20 lakhs for a Landrover!!!!
😂😂
Agar TATA india me bike banati believe me wo sabhi features deti 1 lakh me jo 3 lakh ki bike me hame milti he proud for TATA
Just slap on the Maruti logo and this guy will go WOAH THE BEST EVER
Well said! His bias is obvious and embarrassing. This is the same chap who actually praised the Maruti DZire's interior. In that review he had stated rather incredulously that the interior had a classy feel and that the plastics felt rich. [ Ref: ruclips.net/video/K3gdMzQTrRo/видео.html&t=141 ]
Whereas Glen of Powerdrift had actually taken time to pan this same interior. He said that the quality of the materials on the interior and fit and finish were not up to par. [ Ref: ruclips.net/video/J6YRmNhlUrQ/видео.html&t=426 ] Glen was proved right as later many had ended up calling the new DZire a rattle box. So much for the fairness of the reviews of this person and channel.
If a friend ask me why I spent 20Lac on a Tata, I will give him a Chaata.....and only then, I will ask him to hop in..... :)
Kinda disappointed with the title.
The current generation of buyers is now different enough and they don't care about any old baggage that Tata might be carrying.
And you lot try to bring back the baggage. Great
Hey, Maybe that's in your head/your take. For us it was just a way of making a point about how far Tata has come. Thanks for watching and letting us know.
@@SirKart honestly, bro, being a fan of your reviews for a long time, you deserve a lot better. I hope you enjoy what you're doing at zigwheels.
Anyone buying the car will get this question. Why is it disappointing? The video answers it quite well. If anything, its giving an answer to the questions people have.
No one likes old baggage but that shouldn't be an excuse to discount the new gen models to NOT answering them.
@@rohitbhatia90 the caption was quite offensive, but they have changed it now
@@rohitbhatia90 seems like the entirety of my points flew over your head.
Bro, the next generation of buyers now ( or current gen of buyers, depending on how you look at it ) is young and they do not, for the most part, care about old baggage. Trying to mention it again and again will only do more damage. And our indigenous manufacturers are going through a period of very tough competition and it is during this time that we must support them.
Why wouldn’t you pay for tata if they can make as good cars? Wierd mental set up but ok. Remember JLR is under TATA for 10 years now and thus making it a world brand plus 5 star NCAP ratings. So i say why not?
Great job Zigwheel. Quite impressed by tata harrier and by ur channel.
Thank you for watching Sir!
So ZigWheels,if you Criticize an Indian car for the lack of features, people go out of their mind for no logical reason. But this video is perfectly done with precise points for a consumer to think about when spending close to 20 Lakh Rupees on a car.Keep up the good work and don't give a crap about the naysayers.
Also,Which crap manufacturer puts drum brakes on a 20 Lakh car ?
The initial title was a bit offensive. Glad that it was changed. I'm not really sure zigwheels has a good history of being unbiased but as always Karthikeya manages to make up for his employer's shortcomings with his great review style. You make it hard for people to blame the review. Excluding the title, great review style. You should start your own review channel.
I say Tata gave indian middle class urban men a land rover and thats a great thing, it really solid car and i say thanks to Tata...
The music in the background is amazing. Anybody knows the name?
Seems inspired by Ironman Helmet...Good Work Tata
Harrier is a Phenomenal SUV. Sort out the engine sound/NVH factors, bring in an Automatic and may be AWD, electronic driver seat adjustment, 18 inch 7 spoke Alloys and look into some inconvenience factors like USB port at awkward positions etc.
And you are all set. This truly for the first time in Indian history has tremendous potential to be a Global SUV!
Awesome, Phenomenal engineering.... Just add some ease of life for end-users and this will compete with Fortuner/Jeep/Other real SUVs.
Bhai tere shabdo ne Harrier ko Hero bana diya. Finishing lines was like picture abhi baki hai mere dost.

Kartikeya GEM of a review!! How could TATA miss a Automatic on Launch!? Automatic with RED and BLUE color of JEEP compass a must with 6 airbags and 4 disc breaks!!
This is by far one of the best vehicle from an indian manufacturer no one gives you that kind of vehicle you are almost getting a disvovery at half price and sunroof is not a big issue it is just a fancy gimmick if you have sunroof you knw people rarely use it
I am not gonna tell my friends I bought a 20L rupees car. I will bring them to show TATA HARRIER. They might also think I have bought 30L rupees car.
Harrier or Compass ( limited plus) , which one to buy?
One of The Best revivew. TATA is transforming themselves. strong and durable body , better and comfortable seating positions , based on Land rovers platform . thoughtfull spaces in terms of praticality and even quite diesel engine . TATA also taking care of safety features with this . instead of asking all fancy things and less prices now INDIANS changing theirs mindset to safe cars rather than cheap cars . best wishes to Indian Brands and more updates to come soon . thank you .
Today July 2019 I took a test drive looks are nice and good suspension but noisy engine from Fiat with poor Tata gearbox is not matching .. it's not smooth... Pickup is poor 😧
Hi I am planning to buy harrier this month. As the showroom guys are saying that present harrier engine is also bs6 compliant.is it so and please let me know if its not. Also should I go for it or wait for bs6. I am tempted because they are presoffeing good discounts
It could a marketing n sales funda why Tata dint offer a 18 inch alloy wheels n sunroof..I am pretty sure they could be introducing it with the automatic version..but really feeling so proud for a Indian Car manufacturer..Hats off to the Man..Sir. Ratan Tata
Things TATA must include in the next Harrier update:
1: 19" diamond cut alloy wheels
2: Redesigned steering wheel ( smaller logo ? ) and speedometer.
3: Black body color option.
4: Smoked black headlamps.
5: Automatic variant.
6: 170bhp/350Nm output.
These, I feel, would make the car irresistible to any car buyer.
I would like to see harrier's plush dash in Hexa. That awkward position of DRL above the headlight literally ruined the look ( though looks are subjective ) and the price may shoot up to 25 lakhs if the same variant is launched with sunroof, auto transmission with 4wd system and other features which brings this vehicle almost close to the endevaour or fortuner. Being an Indian I would like to see Tata on the top but I don't understand why people are more focused on JLR's platform, out of 100 people , 90 dont even go for offroading with their suv, I am not an expert to talk about rigidity or stress resisting character of the frame or chassis but being an average middle-class man who wants to buy a proper SUV with ( not talking about ecosport , creta or shit like compass) good road presence , harrier disappointed me. I won't say the current pricing is an issue but as soon as they launch the new models of harrier with 4wd and other features this vehicle will certainly lose its charm for sure. The only thing which made me happy about harrier is the quality of their cabin : )
@Karthik
At the beginning, you have shown a Discovery and a Discovery Sport. Both are on different platforms - the former is the flagship products aluminium architecture & the latter a steel one is relatively cheaper.
The Harrier is based on the latter .
TATA had come out of its grey area in terms styling and design. Thanks TATA. Now i am struck at crossroads, HEXA or HARRIER.
The second Row of All TATA vehicles are known for their comfort and support. For instance, SAFARI second row is dubbed as Maharaja Seat.
This is one of the better reviews out there. My brother booked one and I am waiting to test drive before taking it.The reviews for most of this automags are supposed to be biased. Thanks Kartikeya for pointing out things to look out for. Also he is more of an actual driver than some of the cinematographer turned car-reviewers and Vlogers turned ones.
And Nexon isn't all that good. When I tested(Petrol) it it felt slow and had a turbo lag and was bumpy in low speeds. When I watched the reviews 99% of them were overly positive. There were some reviews correctly pointing out the issues and those were filled with negative comments by fans. The NVH is a real big issue if not corrected before launch. So is Faulty infotainment system. If you spend 20L of your own money these things matters, a lot.
Hi Kartikey .. I became fan of yours when you reviewed Gixxer when it launched and bought it straight away after the test ride.. you were spot on about the bike.. As your fan would just like to suggest one thing that at the end of the day we are indian and this is indian channel. So request you to please have additional respect for the TATA products. you even not mentioned as an indian premium SUV.. it will defiently go down well with all of us indians. keep your good work as it is but give a second thought while reviewing indian prodcuts with your honesty as you do all ways... cheers
Ratan Tata the name and the way he deserves love u sir i will surely buy this car
You nailed it. You are the only one, who talked abt stearing so far, true IT'S UGLY. Your review is awesome bro
Review should be explaining the product. This looked like an attempt to say it's 20lk vehicle and what we get to justify the cost. That's kind of adds a negative thought for the viewers. Also please talk about the ex show room price .. no one uses on road price in their review title. Seems like an attempt to damage the vfm aspect of the product. Also there is no official statement from Tata motors for it to be 20lk vehicle. I guess if the same would have been from Maruti, your title would say ' A JLR for 13L .. ? ' so there are different ways to influence the viewers. Please discuss the good/bads of the product, leave the price part for buyers to decide.
I'd +1 to that. Exactly, my point. Especially coming from a veteran like Karthikeya.
But then again, I don't think he is the one deciding what goes into a review and what does not.
Good to see the title changed now. But the review itself focused on the product pricing .. can't change zigwheels hatred towards Tata. Let's see how they compare harrier against a maruti. Oops there is nothing to compare except for brezza at the moment :)
@@AnoopMaddi Yep. Although the addition of a diesel auto combination at launch would've been a heavy blow to compass and creta sales
AWD doesn't matter as much it seems since the sales of it are less than 5%, but the common buyer places very big importance on two things, a diesel auto, for this big of a car, and a sunroof.
@@siangetz8808 yes agree with that. Guess Tata is working on these features for later upgrades. The key at the product launch is to keep the cost under 13-14 lk bracket. Otherwise Hyundai sourced auto box would affect the cost. Jeep also did the same .. launched at 15lk and now getting a 9 speed torque converter. Sunroof .. yeah they may get in 2019 diwali upgrade :)
@@AnoopMaddi Agree on that. But what Tata failed to see is that there is currently a void in the market. The creta isn't available in the top end diesel SX(O) variant with automatic option, so it misses out on a lot of features including 6 airbags, ( SX automatic only gets two airbags ) and the compass doesn't even have a diesel automatic option. The Harrier could've filled in that void and that would've affected the sales of both by a noticeable margin. Nevertheless, better late than never. Hoping for the diesel auto.
Awesome bro. This harrier is just a mental beast.....so well engineered!!!
, Put your money in safes, jeep compass!!!
The front design, while it's not graceful at first sight , is something that will grow on you.
Almost expected you to say 'back to the studio' at the end, followed by an applause from the audience. It was that good! Bravo!

I actually liked the previous caption , but guess people took it other way and it had to be changed .
Tata motors have come a really long way just five year's ago no one cared about the brand and now it's suddenly the most talked and actually the one which is not afraid to take risks . Great going tata.
And Great going zigwheels you have come a long way too.

Much better review than Autocar! Waiting for the automatic version to book!
Land rover pedigree , super spacious, fantastic engine, lotus tuned suspension, sturdy build(could be min 4* like Nexon in gncap), creta is not even a fair competition to this in MT. Good Job Tata....price this aggressively like the Nexon...give an AT and AWD shortly...it will be fantastic. Sunroof can be given as a customisation option now only....
I will buy, started hard working
R u still working hard
Yes offcourse, but god himself have to appear to get one😀

Best Harrier review... and so not dull. Sir you just got the Zig into Zigwheels... always save your video for the last. Cause I know... it's never gonna be a let down.
Yup, Harrier seems to be a quite surprise from TATA, but I think JEEP COMPASS still has a upper hand in terms a drivability and punchyness.
The most honest review of Harrier till now.
Sorry after looking again and again this video is not actually anti-Tata.. I think it was just caption.. Sorry karthikeya sir.. It was great review.. And I really mean it was not biased..
The introduction is very nice, 'But Why'.....nice video....rear AC vents should be there, if Santro(Hyundai) can offer why not in a >15L car.....
I guess the Japanese and Koreans should be concerned now.🤔Tata and Mahindra are now very competitive.Wish them all the best.👍

How could the review not show the bootspace?? Or did I miss that?
It isn't always about features and features....only.
I wish to write this to all reading this. So I mean no offense to anyone.
